I was all for Cal leaving but looking back Im starting to think Mitch was the issue all along. If Peevy was AD then maybe Cal continues his dominate ways. Not sure any major coach can thrive under this current athletic department administration.

I’m beginning to think it was both. Sometimes both parties need to be away from each other. Cal still isn’t CAL of 09 but he’s gotten a slight pulse back.

How did he violate the contract?

And if he did then why wasn’t he fired for it?

Just because Matt jones runs with a story doesn’t make it true.
It’s actually in the contract that he’s not allowed to speak to another program and he did. He admitted it. He spoke to several Arkansas people about the job including the AD.

The issue wasn’t just Barnhart but I see where people think that. Contributors were done with him, lots of rumors he was intentionally sabotaging UK so we meet his demands. He probably didn’t think we would get rid of him. He called Ohio State during / before the NCAA tournament (this was said by some guys around the time and Jones I believe heard this too) wanting to gauge interests. They had none. He then used Arkansas to get Kentucky to give him what he wanted and that’s when Barnhart found his out. Barnhart wanted to do it but it was coming anyway because the boosters were largely done with his act. He was given a very gracious contract and used it against people. This is how Calipari operates. He had to go.

Barnhart was always an obstacle for Calipari we are very fortune that Calipari wanted Kentucky bad enough to overlook it. His first order of business was to get Barnhart out of basketball operations and did. Calipari was rumored to have called Mitch and offer to make the changes necessary when is method of sting arming didn’t work. That’s when Mitch said we’re gonna move on.

Watch calipari get off the plane in Arkansas. Watch the interviews. I’ll never forget being told all of this then watching all of that and seeing Calipari’s face. I’ve been watching the guy for 30 years, was in school at UM during his time there. I can tell you that is what calipari looks like when he’s lost a battle and didn’t expect what came to him Calipari never thought he’d end up at Arkansas.
all imo, but from very good places.

I wish you’d stfu for a day but that ain’t happening. Grown men crying over Cal are as bad as those defending Pope at all cost.

Long ago Cal started to believe his own BS and stopped coaching to win games for UK. He thought he was the program and his main job was to not win games but to get players to the NBA.
In a nutshell ... this is absolutely true. By the time he leaves Ark, those fans too will hate the slimeball. It's true with every one of his former employers.

Agree Sensemaker,
COW did not put KAT, Davis, Gilchrist, Wall etc in the NBA. They would have been drafted out of high school if that was an option. He had them for 6 months, not 4 seasons where they could have developed and he might could have taken credit.

Take a 1 or 2 star and get them to the NBA and the coach and player get credit. BTW, the UK coach is supposed to put together the best possible team for his employers who pay him. So glad he is gone personally.

As for Brad, Bruce Pearl has created the blueprint. Keep your son on staff, make him the associate head coach, credit him for offensive/defensive success, and his rapport with the players and staff and he may be the next Head Hawg. Nothing against Steven Pearl but he got a top 50 coaching gig with no previous head coaching experience.
