While it’s against federal law to hire or fire someone based on their religion, proving religious discrimination is very difficult, especially in at will employment states where employers can fire someone for any reason other than the protected classes.

I personally don’t care what someone’s religion is as long as they contribute to society and follow the nation’s laws. I think it’s dangerous to pass laws that favor a particular religion because we don’t know which faiths will hold influence or find themselves in the minority in the future. I would rather have a country founded on shared laws and ideals, not religion.

History gives us little reason to assume the status quo of today will last forever. Standing up for someone else’s faith and their right to practice it today helps safeguard your own faith and right to practice it in the future.

While the cases above are relatively cut and dried, Adhering to Title 7 is often fraught with practical challenges. Allowing for two or three prayer breaks a day may be considered an undue hardship for the employer in some work environments. Reasonable accommodation would generally be much simpler in an office environment as opposed to an assembly line setting. Where the reasonable accommodation ends and undue hardship begins is often quite murky, but the topic was originally about hiring and firing, so I’ve probably gone a little deep in the weeds here.

That’s not great.

Also, the Treasury (Trump) announced yesterday that it will double the amount of money it’s currently pumping into the bond market. Coincidentally, this is scheduled to continue into November, artificially pushing interest rates down in the run-up to the election, which would have been a huge scandal for any other president.

This could have dire consequences when it ends. You can’t mess with the bond market like this without consequences.

Oh, mac! Whew! I'm so glad you're okay! I was hoping you just needed a little time to recover from the interrogation you've been through over the last couple days. I hope your moral victory lap after your beliefs were ruled only A-Level bigotry rather than S-level bigotry went well. Good to have you back, lil' guy.

I'm impressed that you chose to share the reporting from NPR. You must have known we Leftists already consider it a valid source. Lemme guess: you first saw it on FoxNews, rubbed one out, then went looking for the same story at a site Leftists might find more palatable, right?

Did you actually read the article? A guilty plea is a guilty plea, but there are a few excerpts I'd draw your attention to...
1. "The coronavirus research in question has come under fire by Sen. Rand Paul and other Republicans, who have claimed without proof that the coronavirus that caused the pandemic came from a lab in China, and have accused Fauci and Morens of covering that up. Both scientists have denied this. Many researchers agree that the weight of the available evidence suggests the virus emerged naturally."
2. "Some experts have said [Sen. Paul's committee's] moves are part of broader undermining of science and scientists in the United States."
3. " 'Criminal prosecution of scientists is a classic authoritarian tactic' "
Sorry if that ruins the mood for you. Congrats on that guilty plea, though.

Yeah it's odd that Fauci was pardoned for things he hadn't even been convicted of. All the way back to 14. Really strange.
No different from President Ford's pardon of President Nixon. Pardons are often offered to people who may face prosecution in the future, vindictive or otherwise. Watch who President Trump pardons in these last few months in office and how President Vance rushes to pardon him once he takes over next spring.

Haha, Trump is 100% going to pardon himself, his family, and all his friends who’ve been getting rich at the expense of the American people during this term. It will bookend the most shameless, corrupt administration in American history.

I’m sure our friends in this thread will find a way to justify it, though.

You a little ticked off this morning? I bet you're out of your meds. They don't get any more compassionate than a white male over 50. Do you have a pony tail too?

It seems curious that some arent curious why a senior adviser to Fauci would rather plead guilty and risk jail time than plead not guilty and likely have to testify. Wonder what was in those records? If this is some sort of anti-science witch hunt , it seems strange that Morens would fall on the sword, sacrificing his reputation in the process.

They don't want to know. Finding out the truth would taint everything they've believed. Let me put my tin foil hat on KD. Falling on the sword is probably his best option. Might be some photos out there of him caught in some situations (women) that have put him between a rock and a hard place. Whether it's that or not, he's been bribed. Liberals just doesn't realize how evil some of these people are. They think Trump is the only evil one. They have no clue.

I know these tv series, and many movies are fictional. But I think it's very possible that these shows have some truth to them. Look at the Paramount series 'Lioness.' Season 3 is out now and will make you think.

Trump was President during the COVID lockdowns, vaccine development, and the beginning of its rollout. Is the president not responsible for what happens under his watch inside his own administration? Where does he fit into your theories? Just curious.

If Morens broke the law by hiding or deleting federal records, prosecute him. He pleaded guilty, so I have no problem with that. Lock him up. Lock up the co-conspirators too. Government employees are required by law to preserve those records, after all.

But do you have the same outrage over Pete Hegseth, JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Tulsi Gabbard, John Ratcliffe, Mike Waltz, and other members of the Trump administration using the Signal app to conduct government business during this term, including chats with disappearing messages that can be used to evade FOIA requests and record retention laws? How is deliberately hiding government communications from being preserved different from what Morens plead guilty to here? Should we lock them up as well?

Ticked off? I think it's pretty clear I was joking. And I did so without using mental health as a punchline, but you stay classy there, mac.

We've been over this. There is no global conspiracy of unrelated scientists employed by different countries and companies. It would be impossible to coordinate something of that size without actual proof getting out.

Are you suspicious of all information that doesn't fit your predetermined stance?

Like Watergate, it could be that the coverup is the worst thing. They got him for trying to hide info by using personal email. I didn't see anything on the content of those emails.

Oh, good thing you know it's fictional. I'd hate to be as bad as a pedophile for pointing that out.

Being suspicious of everything you don't like doesn't mean you have a clue. Suspicions are not a substitute for facts.

You're already on record here claiming you want the Epstein Files to be released... but that anything in it about Trump is fake. Pretty rich saying anyone else doesn't want to know something.

This coming from the same guy that denied anything was wrong with Biden for almost 4 years. I keep using it because it's so true, and made you and your side look like the snowflakes that you all are.

Yes, we've been over this. Because you say there's no conspiracy because scientists say something that disagrees with the Right. Many of these people are bought off, but believe what you want. Again, facts are coming out like I said they would. I believe more dominos are to fall.

This is way deeper than you want to think. Yeah Trump was President during the lockdowns, but he was in a no win situation. That's obvious. Medically, who had more clout at the onset, Trump or Dr Fauci? And they knew he was caught. Moving forward, most rational people started to see Fauci for who he was, which was bought off. The little weasel was nothing more than a political tv doctor, paid handsomely to keep the sheep scared. Did you ride alone in your hybrid with a mask on?

Your part on Hegseth, Vance, Rubio... that may be true. But as long as it's coming from left wing sites, forgive me for being hesitant to share your enthusiasm. The last 10 years have been nothing but proof as to why I'm skeptical.

The Morens news is just the beginning. We've been saying for years how much we got conned. Just keep watching.

Fauci was more powerful than Trump? Wow, that’s a new one. So no accountability or blame for the president who was in charge at the time?

Here’s some links about the Signal chats from one of your preferred propaganda networks:

The story is real. So, should we lock up Pete Hegseth, JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Tulsi Gabbard, John Ratcliffe, Mike Waltz, Scott Bessent, Susie Wiles, Stephen Miller, Steve Witkoff, and any other members of the Trump administration who used these group chats to deliberately evade federal record keeping and transparency laws? The same thing that Morens just pleaded guilty to.

Waters last voted on July 23, and the House hasn’t held a single vote since then. Congress has been on vacation, so why are we saying she’s absent? Is this a social media thing you saw? Haha.

Regardless, Waters is way too old and should be replaced, just like the rest of the gerontocracy who refuse to give up power.

Sounds like a possible witch-hunt. You can’t compare what is going on militarily to a virus. There’s some things that don't need to be broadcasted out there.

Yeah, let’s make it known to the public that we’re going to strike another country.

Morens’ criminal behavior overlapped the Trump and Biden administrations so there’s no point any longer pretending Trump is exclusively responsible. On top of that, the executive branch employs roughly four million people. It’s implausible to hold any President responsible for the behavior of each employee. If a school teacher shows up to school drunk or molests a student, would the School principal be held responsible? Perhaps if previous warning signs were ignored or under disciplined, but otherwise no.

The U.S. government has secure lines of communication for a reason. Which is why Signal isn’t authorized for transmitting classified information, and the Defense Department has rules that expressly prohibit its use. Yet members of Trump’s administration used it to discuss military attack plans and used disappearing messages that pretty blatantly violate the Federal Records Act.

So it’s legit when Morens gets busted for using gmail to evade the Federal Records Act, but it’s a witch hunt when members of Trump’s Cabinet use Signal to do the same thing? Seems a bit hypocritical to me.

We've been over the President Biden thing, too: when you're claiming within a year of his term starting that he is the WORST President EVER ALL-TIME in the ENTIRE history of the US BY FAR, there's a whole, whole lotta room between that and defending him. We've covered this sooooo many times, mac, and you keep returning to the same lie about defending him. Why isn't this getting through to you? It's as if you just can't think of anything else to say.

Who was bought off and by whom? Where are the receipts? It's easy enough for you to claim I don't believe in conspiracy theories because we disagree with the right, and it's easy for me to say you believe in conspiracy theories because you already agree with the right. The difference is, if you believe in something, outside of actual religious faith, you generally need to provide proof. That's on you. If you're going to tout a conspiracy, show the proof. It's logical for me not to believe your baseless theories that have no evidence. It is convenient for someone like you who struggles to articulate much of anything to be cynical and toss around theories that are unfalsifiable.

What facts are coming out? That Dr. Morens illegally evaded FOIA by using personal email? Sure. Okay. So what was he covering up?

You have said, in the same breath, that if President Trump did anything, he should face consequences... but it's all a witchhunt with made up charges. You have already decided you won't believe any info that is revealed about him.

Okay, money powerful. Money make shadiness. People get bribed. It everywhere both sides. Happy? Those are such basic ideas that no one would deny. What I have said is that you, mac -- you personally -- only bring up "both sides" when the spotlight is on your guy. When it's on someone from the Left, you never mention both sides. So your use of this basic-Betty fact that a child could understand is a weak deflection you apply with bias. And apparently that is too complex for you to grasp so you mistake it for a denial.

Here you go again Datt. For the humpteenth time, I do not feel Trump did any of the shenanigans involving Epstein. If I’m proven wrong, I will say so. But for now, and we weally, I mean weally, know how much the powers to be despise Trump that they have, and will, try to diminish his Presidency. You forget they tried to assassinate him at least two times? You forget all the crap they threw at him his first term? So forgive me when I say I don’t believe the Left. All you are is a sheep for them. Nothing else.

For someone with education, you’re pretty naive. You don’t realize how corrupt ‘they’ve’ been for a long time? Oh I get it, you don’t want to.

Money man, it buys power. You don’t need a college degree to see this. You refuse to think about this group of people. They control the media, and too many politicians from both sides. Do you think the people from your party have gotten wealthy from honest ways? Oh, it’s just the other side. Gotcha.

Think Datt. Seriously.

Think? Isn't that one of the things you mock academic types for? All of our thinking?

I acknowledged both sides are corrupt. No one here has ever denied that. I just explained to you what the problem is with it whenever you bring it up. It's the same thing I've explained to you repeatedly and you continue to return to the lie that we don't get it, won't get it because you can't handle anything any more complex.

You literally said that anything they say Trump did is a lie. No one will ever "prove" anything to you because you are absolutely resolute on denying facts you don't like.

You’re right. I don’t believe the media. For good reason. Why would I when I’ve seen what I have since 2016? You wouldn’t either if what has happened to Trump, happened to the president if he was a Democrat.

If you know both sides are corrupt, then you need to connect some dots and figure out why they’re corrupt.

You say both sides are as merely a general statement. Just to make yourself out to be an unbiased observer.

If you truly believed it though, you’d feel a little more like we do, and say more things that line up to blaming the system. Instead it’s Trump this, Trump that…

After all this time, you still think you know how i'd feel if only this, if only that?

I'm so, so stupid I couldn't possibly figure that out on my own. Why don't you tell me?
