Good morning folks. The Canadian wildfire smoke has settled in heavy on DC. My eyes are stinging like I have a mild case of welder’s arc burn. The sun is a Blood-Orange disc hanging in the east right now.

Making my way by stages to NYC for my wife’s aunt’s funeral today. Taxi, subway, shuttle bus, more subway then Amtrak train to Penn Station in Manhattan and a final taxi through NYC streets. My daughter is meeting me at Union Station in DC so I’ll have good company for that part of the trip.

My son’s crew was pulled back from the fire zone in Colorado early this morning and he’s got a mandatory 3-day break.

I hope all is well for you folks.

Good morning everyone.

Home from the lake and now, as usual, need to catch up on work here at home. But, I find myself sitting in my favorite chair out in the patio drinking coffee, watching for critters and listening to the pond waterfalls.

We had a good trip... caught some fish, got some work done and had a nice day trip sightseeing around some places we haven't been.

Well it seems we outplayed the La Familia team this week. I haven't seen any videos of the scrimmage or heard any reports.

Men's Conference at church tonight and tomorrow. Hope it's good.

Y'all have a good one.

Hello All,

Been with the BB this morning but his Mom just picked him up. My Darling is off with her friends to a lunch date... I enjoy she can do that. Me, ..in a few minutes, I am heading over to my oldest house to spray for ants and weed-eat her yard for her. She does the mowing. Was thinking about heading to my youngest to mow her grass but I am thinking better of it. (Just the lazy side coming out...)

Have a Christ-Blessed day and my your pains be miniscule...

MdW,

You sound like you have some expereience with arc burn... I had that once, just once!

I welded on boxcars for a living for a while at Whitehead and Kales in Michigan while in High School... Never had an issue as I was cautious. THEN, I became a big shot. I had just graduated and was actually working part time for an equipment company selling mig-welders. Yeah my company at the time MOE Equipment company (The owners name was Ebbe Moe a Danish man. A super person.) booked me at a high school to do demo's with their mig-welders.. Yeah, I was a big shot walking around while students tried them out. (Had three machines to demo...)

My big shot self that afternoon had the worst pain of my life when I came down with a severe case of arc burn. I have NEVER hurt as much before or to this day... Yep. Once, just once...

Have a bad event-free day all...

BBUK - I carried a union card in Pipeliners Local 798 from the time I was 15 (my father had some pull) until I was 25. I didn’t pipeline all that time, but I was on quite a few jobs —the Alaska Pipeline in 1976 but also jobs in Montana and Utah and Colorado and Wyoming, the Dakotas and Minnesota and back east in Kentucky, Ohio, WVa., Penn., and Maryland. I never became a full fledged pipeline welder, but I did my share of utility welding on equipment and so on. We used the Lincoln 200D most of the time. No mig welding. And yeah, I had my share of arc burn. It can be misery.

Wild fire smoke haze hasn't been bad (I haven't noticed.), but coming storms will wash it out soon.
