Good morning folks. The Canadian wildfire smoke has settled in heavy on DC. My eyes are stinging like I have a mild case of welder’s arc burn. The sun is a Blood-Orange disc hanging in the east right now.

Making my way by stages to NYC for my wife’s aunt’s funeral today. Taxi, subway, shuttle bus, more subway then Amtrak train to Penn Station in Manhattan and a final taxi through NYC streets. My daughter is meeting me at Union Station in DC so I’ll have good company for that part of the trip.

My son’s crew was pulled back from the fire zone in Colorado early this morning and he’s got a mandatory 3-day break.

I hope all is well for you folks.

Good morning everyone.

Home from the lake and now, as usual, need to catch up on work here at home. But, I find myself sitting in my favorite chair out in the patio drinking coffee, watching for critters and listening to the pond waterfalls.

We had a good trip... caught some fish, got some work done and had a nice day trip sightseeing around some places we haven't been.

Well it seems we outplayed the La Familia team this week. I haven't seen any videos of the scrimmage or heard any reports.

Men's Conference at church tonight and tomorrow. Hope it's good.

Y'all have a good one.

Hello All,

Been with the BB this morning but his Mom just picked him up. My Darling is off with her friends to a lunch date... I enjoy she can do that. Me, ..in a few minutes, I am heading over to my oldest house to spray for ants and weed-eat her yard for her. She does the mowing. Was thinking about heading to my youngest to mow her grass but I am thinking better of it. (Just the lazy side coming out...)

Have a Christ-Blessed day and my your pains be miniscule...

MdW,

You sound like you have some expereience with arc burn... I had that once, just once!

I welded on boxcars for a living for a while at Whitehead and Kales in Michigan while in High School... Never had an issue as I was cautious. THEN, I became a big shot. I had just graduated and was actually working part time for an equipment company selling mig-welders. Yeah my company at the time MOE Equipment company (The owners name was Ebbe Moe a Danish man. A super person.) booked me at a high school to do demo's with their mig-welders.. Yeah, I was a big shot walking around while students tried them out. (Had three machines to demo...)

My big shot self that afternoon had the worst pain of my life when I came down with a severe case of arc burn. I have NEVER hurt as much before or to this day... Yep. Once, just once...

Have a bad event-free day all...

BBUK - I carried a union card in Pipeliners Local 798 from the time I was 15 (my father had some pull) until I was 25. I didn’t pipeline all that time, but I was on quite a few jobs —the Alaska Pipeline in 1976 but also jobs in Montana and Utah and Colorado and Wyoming, the Dakotas and Minnesota and back east in Kentucky, Ohio, WVa., Penn., and Maryland. I never became a full fledged pipeline welder, but I did my share of utility welding on equipment and so on. We used the Lincoln 200D most of the time. No mig welding. And yeah, I had my share of arc burn. It can be misery.

Greetings from Manhattan.

Austin, I’ll continue to pray for a peaceful passage for your wife, as it sounds like that’s where her journey has come.

We had the service for my wife’s aunt at the Century Club where she was a member yesterday evening. A lovely experience. We are staying in my aunt’s place on the upper east side, just a block from Central Park, and I must say NYC has its charms if you can afford to live well here.

Heading out with my wife, daughter and a couple of their cousins to see some museum exhibits. I hope you all have a great day.

We can launch our boat just a mile or two away on the opposite side of the lake. We fish up there occasionally and actually drove around to the old Ali I area last week. The day trip I spoke about was actually over there and visited a friend that lives close to the Eli store.
My sister and her husband have a place there close to Eli/Alligator 1 boat ramp🤷‍♂️

Good Sunday morning everyone

I attended the Livestream of the 1613 Men's Conference the last two days at our church. It was great and recommend it if you ever have a chance to attend or watch. It's based on Corinthians 16:13

However, I'm now behind on my Sunday School lesson for today so time to open up the book.

Have a great day!

Good afternoon folks. Rolling down the east coast on an Amtrak train. Next stop, Philadelphia. Destination: Union Station in Washington.

Had a nice morning walk through Central Park. A lot of energy ahead of the World Cup finals in the Meadowlands stadium tonight. If this was a Final Four, Argentina would be Kentucky; their fans are everywhere.

Beautiful day in the east; yesterday’s rain pushed out the last of the Canadian Wildfire smoke.

Hope you all are doing well.

Got my colonoscopy results back and met with the docs nurse practicioner Friday. They took out several polyps, some pre cancerous. One very large. Had to take it out in sections. I think she was afraid she may not have got a tiny shaving. She wants me to do another in a few months. I had an appt with a doc (now retired) who was probably going to schedule a colonoscopy back during covid and they canceled. That likely allowed the big one to grow. I should have pushed to get an appointment rescheduled, but I didnt, so I share the blame.

Yes Sir,

I am like you in the regard I share the blame with my medical issues. I have a bad hip. At about mid-afternoons I am at the point where I cannot lift my right leg more than a few inches. My stupidity is, I have been working with the VA hospitals for decades getting this addressed. I have BCBS as a retired fed and have been going to the DC VA hospital since 2017 for that and other items but I am going outside the VA soon. I am too young to be like I am to have them tell me I need PT. I have had that many mutiple times but I know and they know I have partially torn tendons. (MRI with contrast) I will stop...

I hope you get it worked out.

I was in a wreck when I was 33. Broke an ankle and had to have a pin in it. Tore ligaments and tendons in knee. I was in a cast up to my hip for 3 months, then to my knee for another 3 months. At the end, my leg was so weak, I couldn't even push down the clutch on my car for a while. It robbed me of my power in softball as I couldnt step hard into my swing. Our eighty pound dog ran into that knee at full speed a couple of years ago and it is getting worse. It wobbles when I walk and I fall now and then, so I know how you feel. Good luck with your problems.

Morning D-Leaguers!

Hot... starting today and going forward we will be having over 100° days. Predicted at 107° for Sunday.

Had one of those trick questions yesterday from my wife. We went out to have breakfast at a local restaurant called Ann's Country Kitchen. Food is always good there and plenty of it. Wife gussied up (Country word for the occasion) and after coming back I told her she really looked good today (bad choice of words). She responded, "What about yesterday, did you not notice?" And you know that Warrior-Cat was so smart and so slick, he thought up a lie and thought it up quick (Christmas in July you know). I told her that she knew that I was not good with mushy conversations or compliments. The old drill sergeant in me is just crusty old man and that her question is why sometimes I don't say it enough because of that kind of response. She just looked at me and went back to reading whatever it was she was reading at the time. I slept with one eye open last night. ;)

Hey, you worker bees get started this morning and be safe.

Too everyone... Prayers for those who need it and God Bless.

Hello All,

The BB came over early. We never went back to sleep. I am thankful... Coffee, orange juice, and water. Deciding about breakfast. The BB is ready for pancakes so...

We pray together now in the mornings. I am truly thankful as I messed that up with my kids. I am still working on them until the Lord takes me home...

Take comfort that God still allows you to proclaim him... God Bless your families and may your pains be lessened...

Hello All,

My Darling and I had an early appointment up in DC but we actually got back early. My Darling is asleep on the couch. (We stopped off at Red Lobster for dinner.)

Plans change so quickly as do scheduled items. In any event I am still busy but I am breathing better looking for the day when I can just be.... 'retired"... I am thankful, we were going to head back to Florida Monday this coming week for a week but those plans changed as it may be another week before we can or who knows...(The Lord knows.)

HA, on a manual labor note: My 2015 Camry needs a bit of body work and paint in a small area on the rear driver's side quarter panel. I got a couple quotes. One was $1900.00 plus, I had another estimate of $800.00 plus.... (Yeah, isn't the difference ridiculous...) I just bought the paint, primer, and clear coat to do the work myself. (The area is just a little bigger than my outstretched hand.) Been years but I think I can get it into good shape myself. Bought the "stuff" for under $75.00 total...)

I am heading to our room shortly and plan to stretch out a bit, then do some reading if nothing comes up.

I am waiting on three or four decisions any time now that will better map out my exit strategy in several areas. I know what will happen but I need it confirmed...

In any event, I am thankful, I DO hope all your desires in the Lord come to you in God's time... God's time is the best time. Trust in him...

So my 30+ years old computer desk has a slide out shelf for my desktop's keyboard & mouse. I really like the old desk. However, the shelf detached from the metal slider on one side due to the screws holding them together breaking out from the shelf particle board. Been holding them together with duct tape (what else?) for the last two years or so, but tape keeps sagging and the shelf drops down. Several layers of tape on the shelf's outside edges. Looks great !!

Couple days back genius me - LOL - finally hit on putting a small C clamp on the slider piece & letting the shelf rest on it. Strong a support as can be. Showed DW & she commented that it fits right in with the rest of my office's decor. 🤪

Morning D-Leaguers!

Hot...

Reds won last night. Saw that one coming because Chase Bruns was on the mound. They are now 12-1 when he pitches. Imagin that. A winning record when you have good pitching. Who knew? Another tidbit of info, the announcers last night said that the Reds were 4th in MLB in total home runs hit.

Hump Day folks so go out and climb that hill.

God Bless you all.

They're also 23rd in team ERA and tied for 9th in number of blown saves (The latter is actually better than I would have guessed.)

Good morning folks. Hot in the east. I'm downtown at work, but my wife just sent me this photo she took from our back deck, down across our back lawn...Red-Shouldered Hawk? Not sure if the victim is a squirrel or rabbit. Nature, red in tooth and claw, as Tennyson put it.
