My biggest criticism of the band is that they can work harder to create a distinct identity with the fans. If the band can do a better job of winning the fanbase over, people will realize the band is far better than they are given credit for. Right now, it's the band just has the identity of "being there..." they play "Go State, Hail State," and some cheers, and play some music for a halftime show (even though I personally enjoy a good bit of the music they play... the Hans Zimmer show was REALLY good this year). LSU and bama have marketed their bands better than we have.
One of the things other bands do is play the same cheer for first, second, and third down... and not just "Go, Go" or some other song a jr. high band does, but something unique, engaging, and fun. "Go State" is a great first down cheer, for instance... right now, the band just plays whatever is next on the set list of about 10 defensive or offensive cheers.
