i love what cal has done here and the way he has re branded the Kentucky brand. Players first I like the slogan. That being said does this have a negative effect on recruiting? I read the tweets sent out by the one douche saying if you go to uk and you're not a OAD you're considered a failure. I know this is mainly geared at 5 star players. Obviously that's not true as cal has had a few really good players come here and stay more than one yr and go onto get drafted. Do you feel some guys stay away from us because they don't want the added pressure of being OAD on them? Looking at next yr I don't think green, Alexander, and Vanderbilt are OAD players. Will cal change up his philosophy in recruiting to assure he gets some guys that stay more than one year and not risk them transferring out because they aren't OAD and feel that since they chose uk they are entitled to being a OAD? What are your thoughts? I would like to see the rule changed to either go straight out of high school or stay two years at minimum in college. If that were the case cal may have another ring or two. I also think we may see cal add another 3-4 star player besides the last 3 5 stats we are currently after even though I think young ends up at ok or ku

There are several points in your post that raise good questions based on what has taken place here.Posters here on the board have raised the issue that the mindset is if you come and stay longer than one year you are somehow a failure,it is not surprising that potential recruits are beginning to feel that way? Lee and Matthews both opted to leave(probably for differing reasons) As I said in another post OAD is more fluid than we think, the thought process of OAD's is changing all the time.Cal may look at the departures and how things went in recruiting 2 years ago as well as this year and conclude he does need to change the way he does things

The Young comments (which set this in motion) may well be an isolated view of someone who got left out and is trying to rationalize the situation to his own best interests.

If we could somehow get to two and done I think it would be better for all concerned, players would be more ready from a skill and maturity level, college and pro basketball would benefit because they would both put a better product on the floor

I think Cal modified his recruiting style somewhat a few years ago with TU's class. He still goes after the best of the best, but he seems to also go after a few elite multi year players also. I think this is the best approach. We have had a few of the multi year guys slip thru.

As far as losing guys bc of the extreme success Cal has had--honestly, I think Cal says it best. He can't hide you. If you come here be ready for the spotlight right away and there is a lot that goes with that. Some players are scared of that. But, honestly all in all we I believe are better off without those guys. ESP with the way Cal runs things.

I couldn't be happier. Gotta take the good with the bad.
