We could certainly do worse, and knowing MS, we probably will.
THE universal truth about Mississippi.
We could certainly do worse, and knowing MS, we probably will.
Did they ever get permission from K-Swiss for number 1. Would be a monumental fail to get copy right infringement over the flag.
I haven't been a resident of MS in 15 years, so my opinion doesn't matter, but I like the simplicity/minimalism of the top left as well. Other than it being red and blue, and looking like the USMNT shield, why do those of you that hate it do so? Simply curious.
Yep, that is basically the flag of the Kings of Gondor. There very well may be copyright issues it's so close. If the bottom middle wins, I vote we rename Mississippi the kingdom of Gondor.

People also said the Confederate Battle Flag was a recognizable state symbol. **
Bottom middle is a timeless design. The top 2 look trendy. The other 2 that look like twins just suck.
That depends on which version of Denethor you mean. The movie and book have different interpretations.
Top 2 are terrible. I'm okay with any of the bottom three. I must have missed the discussion on why one of the stars is gold?
I really hate the shield design, but it might be the only finalist that can be accurately drawn by an average third grader. That's an important consideration IMHO.
Agreed. I wish "In God we Trust" wasn't on any of them. We all know that will be a point of contention the exact day this flag is adopted. In my opinion, we are not a country of Christians but of many people. I am a Christian, but I do believe this country is not supposed to be what this flag is saying. Same for the Pledge, same for our currency, same for this flag. Our official position as a society is that we have no official position except that we hold all faiths as your right to practice the beliefs of said faith when it does not impact someone else's ability to practice theirs. By our state or this country including "In God We Trust" on official items such as flags, currency, and the such we are declaring that to be part of this country, that is a belief requirement. And it is not.The first one or the middle bottom one.
We are a nation with proclaimed belief in God, and I like that. Our freedom means no citizen is required to adopt religion or any religion. They are free to live in a county "under God" while not believing in "our God".Agreed. I wish "In God we Trust" wasn't on any of them. It is time for Mississippi to move past these arbitrary bullcrap moves like this. I am a Christian, but I am also an American patriot. We know better. There is a time and place for each. This flag is not one of them.

Edited to add, if "In God We Trust" had to be added to get dumbasses to agree to burn the old one, then I am all for it. Forget everything I said above. The trade was worth it.
People just aren't going to agree on what's aesthetically pleasing and what's not. If that's what people vote on, no flag will ever pass.
So what was the official story on why the Stennis/Hospitality Flag was included in the process. I saw something that basically alluded that the family didn't want the possible blowback from some of the senator's positions on segregation.
Was that it or something else?
I liked the idea of the Green color scheme and hate one wasn't included. I agree that Gondor looks the best when you see it fly although I don't really love the design itself. #2 is just awful in about every way

What if we put boobs on it?[/QUOTE]
Dude.. NOBODY would vote for a flag with a picture of Tate Reeves on it.
