Someone with more energy should go through this thread and make a list. A list just of names - the names of those who exhibited sheer dumbassery in December. I mean, sunofabitch, does this not happen with some frequency with freshmen dominated teams? That they are capable of looking sorry at times and then eventually round into form. It's like some people have zero recall, they are like the dude in Memento. Just starting the verbal flatulence all over again in December.

Nope. You need to own your comments. Your garbage comments. Bro.

I’ll own my comments. Funny bc they aren’t that bad. I also won’t apologize for what was UK basketball in Nov and most of Dec. it was awful to watch and coming off a bad season from the year before, it looked like it might be trending in the wrong way. Fortunately, Cal was able to right the ship. Which I said would have to happen if Cal didn’t want to see the heat intensify. I give Cal a ton of credit for getting this team to buy in.

I never called for Cal to be fired. Majority of the comments in the thread were from fans frustrated at the product at the time and I think most were fair assesments of where the team was at the time. It wasn’t like we were going into the UNC game with a lot of momentum. But no, you want to be a jackass to me for some unknown reason. We’ve had very little interaction on here. In our short interactions, I’m guessing I was probably right sometimes and sometimes you were right whatever man...keep being you. The fans that are hardcore negative and hardcore postive make me roll my eyes bc you’re the extreme fan.

That is true but he is responsible for us getting in a 13-0 hole to start the game. The team was not ready. Cal is a top 5 coach but we were not ready to play that night.

Our fans can be so dumb sometimes. We literally have a top 5 team, likely closer to 1 than 5, and so called “fans” post this garbage. If the bloom is off, tell me what other coach can do what Cal has done.

I only pray that he retains the ability to laugh at these idiots every year and focus on keeping us at the top where we belong.

How hard is it to understand - you don't want old threads to be drug up? Don't make irrational/knee-jerk comments in the first place... or if you do, just own your irrationality and lack of ability to take the "let's wait and see" approach.

What’s funny is the fans (including myself) last year with the wait and see approach never materialized. We were bounced early in the tournament. Did that make the overly pessimistic group right? I saw a lot of the “let’s wait till March” threads drug up when we dropped the game to Kstate. I thought it was stupid then just like the overly positive people bringing up a thread from Dec is dumb.

Nope. I’ve been critical of Cal with some of his decisions. But struggling in November and December when putting new team together is to be expected. It should also be expected that the team will improve because that is exactly what has happened the vast majority of time Cal has been here.

That I’m an extreme fan. What I am is a UK fan confident that they will turn the corner and be a dangerous team in March. And Cal has the history to back that.

I usually am too. I was last year but the corner never turned last year and after the start to the season, I was concerned. It didn’t mean I wanted Cal gone just that I understood where the frustration was coming from. Congrats on being patient but again, no reason to be a jackass to me. There’s plenty of actual idiots in this thread and on this board who did want Cal gone and are miserable. Go be a jackass to them.

After reading a lot of post, after the Seton Hall game, I believe the "Bloom is off the Rose," as far as Coach Cal is concerned. There are still a lot of Coach Cal fans, and a lot of fans who are NOT Coach Cal fans. Coach Cal was the best recruiter in basketball when he come to UK. He is still a good recruiter, but players have found out they don't have to come to UK to get drafted after one year. In 9 years of being either No. 1 or No. 2 in recruiting, he has won, one Championship. Three other teams have won 2 each, and two of those teams did not have the talent UK had. The coaching was the difference.
Vance Walberg was the inventor of the "Dribble Drive," but in two years as the HC at Pepperdine, his record was 14-35. The "Dribble Drive" doesn't use a lot of plays, but primarily lets a player go one on one to get to the basket. Offenses change over time, but it's hard to beat, Pick and Roll, Give and Go, set screens so the player can get away from his man, double screens, back-door cuts etc. Just about any Kentucky man, who played basketball in high school knows what I'm talking about. You don't have to have the best recruits to win, but they must have discipline to run the plays.
When we won the NC, we had the No. 1 an 2 in the draft, but more important, we had a leader in Miller. We haven't had one in a few years. Hopefully one will come forward on this team. If not, It's going to be a looong year, and the booo birds will be loud and clear.

I'm not saying don't be critical. I'm just making a general point that if you post knee-jerk stuff early in a season, know that there is a very high risk of being called out later on for being irrational.

And that’s fine for the morons. My point is I’ve never said anything too terrible outside of probably something I said off the cuff in the game thread in a the heat of a moment. I have no idea why Irishcat is coming after me. I thought we would probably lose UNC and maybe UL. At the time it wasn’t a long limb to go out on

Why do people always screw up the term fair weather fans? It was coined because of fans only showing up when the weather is good.......

it doesnt mean fans being upset when the team loses..... it means the fans not caring and being absent when there are down times...
What are fans called that only show up during **** storm. Not talking about you Calthebomb [winking]

“Facts”? UK has had more comparative success than any other program in the United States during the time he has been the UK coach. Because Cal has won one championship instead of 2 you dismiss him as unsuccessful? In the glorious history of UK basketball only Adolph Rupp in the late 40’s and early 50’s has had better success during a similar period of time.

Cal rescued UK from the abyss of mediocrity or worse following the Gillispie snd Smith coaching tenures. UK could have slipped into the bowels of college basketball like the former Indiana and UCLA dynasties but he instantly brought UK back. Prime time players came to UK because of Cal not because of UK.

If Four Final Fours and one national title later in 9 years is not enough for you to conclude that Cal has demonstrated he’s been the best coach in the country during the same period of time dude, you are the ignorant one.

This is why posters shouldn’t be like a woman and post “emotionally.” Men are hardwired to use rationale and logic not emotion. So stop posting using emotion the few times a year things go bad. Be logical and rational and enjoy the damn team. Stop being miserable in life and enjoy it. It’s as simple as trading your expectations for appreciations. Go big blue!

Silly to bring up stuff people posted in the heat of the moment.

You’re not human if you’ve never said things you really don’t mean.

Some people are more emotional than others.

I’m sure most of us growing up at some point told our Moms that we hated them.

I’m pretty sure my Mom didn’t hold that against me, so I’m not going to hold a fan who said something in a December against him.

We looked awful and poorly coached at times earlier in the year. Just because the team has played a lot better the last 6 weeks doesn’t change that.

I’ve posted stupid things that I really didn’t mean.

Hell, I’ve ripped Cal a few times. However, anyone that knows me will tell you that there’s no one on the planet that I want as Coach here besides John.

If Jesus can forgive those that have done truly evil things, then I think we can forgive posters that said something negative back in December. But hey, that’s just me.

I have no problem forgiving and overlooking the occasional rant but the ones that continually do nothing but put down and tear down a program they pretend to be fan's of is what I have no tolerance for. Not saying that's you but the one's that been on here for the last 10 or so years know the ones that do it.

It's funny to me how the younger generation is always criticized for being the entitled generation, the "I want it now" generation. But when I come to this board, it's ALWAYS an old timer who has no discipline to follow the process, who demands immediate gratification, and is totally incapable of seeing the big picture. I'm certainly not laying this on every older poster because we have a ton of great ones. This is just something I've noticed around here.

Probably my least favorite thing about this board right now. The November/December rehash topics. This team was a train wreck early in the season and people were venting. I know I use this board to vent sometimes. But I also use it to celebrate the fun times too.

I’m sure I’ll say some more asinine stuff in the future. People get WAY too bent out of shape over it.
