It was actually just an introduction and a pep rally, kinda like Big Blue Madness but somehow made you guys furious. I'm not sure why you even cared.
He didn't hold any team hostage during the decision, he was an unrestricted free agent making his decision the first week of free agency. Again, I'm still not sure why "PR" makes you guys so mad. Everybody wants to be outraged by something these days apparently.
The pep rally wasn’t a big deal. It was a weird look as it had the feel of a championship party before the first practice. It became doubly bizarre after Dallas. But it wasn’t a big deal.
The Decision was ugly, no other way to slice it. He knew where he was going like a year earlier. He produced a tv infomercial while the world waited. A two-word fax should have sufficed. Again there were children props. And lastly the 3 created their own superteam in the most inorganic way imaginable, yet paving the way for a new paradigm shift that has left my NBA love dwindling. I was a Lebron fan up to that moment. Now I’m indifferent at best.
But why do you care? It's his life, his decision, he didnt put a gun to your head and force you to watch it, yet it bothered you.
Every player on our team for the last 25 years had an announcement to say where the were going to college when they already knew could've simply faced in the letter of intent, some were on ESPN. Dies that bother you too or is that different?
Children as props, you talk as if the children were being abused. They were kids from the Boys and Girls club, the organization that the proceeds were going to.
Almost all the world’s news happens without my direct involvement. I have the capacity to care about things that happen outside my personal space. The most physically talented player of his generation who decided to blow up the NBA free market landscape by creating superteams based on friendship while producing a 1-hour or blitz with a fig leaf big enough that allows you to say he did it for the kids with a straight face is just silly. You don’t have to agree with my thoughts on the matter, but don’t pretend they aren’t real.
He was an unrestricted free agent who decided to play for the team that he felt was best for him. He didnt blow up anything, he honored his contract and didnt violate any rules. Even if he didnt do it for the kids, even though Boys and Girls club got a ton of money, why does that still trigger you? He's a grown man deciding where to work the end if the day.
It's just weird because public perception wise, he would've been better off if he had beat his wife or committed some other crime than televising the announcement about his decision about where he was gonna play. That made him the most hated man in sports and that's just weird to me.
I actually wouldn’t be half as bothered if Lebronistas didn’t continue to say it was for the kids and that there wasn’t any real reason to find it problematic. Though it still left us in a world where 73-win teams add their rivals MVP to get over the hump, so I won’t walk back my Decision disdain much even if it wasn’t still being defended beyond all proportion.
You can hate whatever you wanna hate, I just think it's weird to put so much energy into a mans decision on where to work, even if it hurt your feelings by being televised. Also I grew up in an era where the Lakers had arguably the best point guard of All Time, arguably the best center of AllTime, then got James Worthy with the number 1 overall pick so big 3's dont really bother me. I'm not gonna act like it's some new phenomenon.

Genuine hatred (or obsessive fandom) of a grown man who happens to play sports but doesn't know you is just as dumb as how grown women get emotional over celebrity relationships.
I don't mean having guys that you personally like or don't care for, but if a certain player is mentioned in a thread title and it's a 100% guarantee that you'll pop up in the thread to rant like he ran over your dog, you're essentially just watching the Kardashians at that point.
I always like when people take historical context into account, because it's the only way you can legitimately talk about comparing stats across different eras. However, you're missing something here, which is that the league Jordan entered in 1984 was much higher scoring for at least the pre-retirement portion of his career than the league LeBron has played in, at least until the last few years.
In Jordan' rookie year, the average team scored 110.8 ppg. That started to drop gradually, but never got below 105 ppg by 1993.
Jordan's retirement year was also, coincidentally, the year of the big NBA slowdown. Scoring dropped to 101.5, and by the time Jordan's Bull's run ended, was down to 95.6 ppg.
In LeBron's rookie season (03-04), scoring was at 93.4 ppg. It didn't get back to 100 until 08-09, dipped own below that from 11-13, and only hit 105 in 16-17. And this year was the first time it was over 110 since 85-86.
And we're all really, really, really thankful that you let us know that.

It’s very much different but I think the trench line is pretty much dug in. Lebron is great and maddening and everything in between, as are the Lebronistas.
They have pace-adjusted stats. Long story short, there was no season where Lebron scored more than what Bulls Jordan averaged per 100 possessions. Only rookie Jordan and ‘95 Jordan scored below Lebron’s average.
Not surprising. LeBron never wanted to be the "hang 50 on you" guy.
But there are also assists and rebounds to take into account.
I saw Jordan's entire career. I'll always lean towards him as the ultimate non-center. But Lebon is easily the best challenger to that status.

Ok. Watch any of the Bulls teams. Ron Harper, Pippen, and Mike made handling the ball really difficult.
Watch Pippen harass Magic in the finals and completely change the game. Pistons, Knicks, and Bulls were all known for D, but there were many other teams that played very physical. Can I name everyone for you? Maybe.
A real hazard was driving to the basket and what might happen.
Common foul back then. Today they would call Malone’s parents in for a conference to find out why he acts so mean. Maybe call the cops too.
That was something that was in the back of smaller players minds. Because it hurt physically.
There’s countless examples of how and why the game was waaaaaay more physical and how handchecking affected the game. It’s really not reasonable to dispute these facts. But, of course, you’re free to.
And no they don’t hand check—at all—like they used to. They may briefly touch. If that. Not ride a player the entire drive like they used to. It’s completely different.

Yeah, Lebron is a freak athlete and a great and very talented all around basketball player and definitely the best basketball player of this new era (I don't consider Kobe "new era"..his career started in the 90s) but I rank Lebron #5 on this list because he has almost no killer instinct whatsoever and his 3/9 in Finals is pretty damn horrible. When you've lost twice as many Finals as you've won, that's never a good thing, sorry. Yeah, I know it's a team sport/game but Jordan and his Bulls were 6/6 in Finals, Larry Bird and his Celtics were 3/5 in the Finals battling Magic and the Lakers and the Bad Boys Pistons, Kobe Bryant and his Lakers were 5/7 in the Finals, and Magic and his Lakers were 5/9 in the Finals while battling the Bad Boys Pistons, Jordan's Bulls, and Larry's Celtics. None of them were even near 3/9..and none of them got the hell beat out of them 3/4 years by the same team like LeBron has by the Warriors..it probably should have been 4/4 times too..they would probably feel like vomiting every second of everyday if they had been owned by the same team/organization like Lebron has.
Lebron has also played for 3 different organizations and is now on his 4th stint with a new team. Sorry, but I give big props to guys who stick it out with the same team/organization through the mediocre times, the good times, the great times, AND more importantly, the bad times. Lebron is like the 90% of this new sad *** generation of basketball players..dip at the first sign of trouble, when things get stale, or when something, anything better becomes available. "To hell with my team, I want a new one." The Lakers are next on his list. He'll be on another team/playing for another organization before his career is over, no doubt.

People think Lebron is the GOAT because he has been at or close to his peak for longer than the others in the discussion, but his peak is not as high as theirs either. Just because he is going to play more games and years than others does not make him the GOAT in my opinion. Right now for instance Lebron has played 16 years in his career to Jordan's 15. Jordan has Lebron beat on Titles 6-3, All Defense 1st team 9-5, scoring titles 10-1, steals leader 3-0, and Jordan has a defensive MVP as well. so maybe Lebron plays 6-7 more years and tallies up more all time points, rebounds, and assist stats, he will still never come close to the peak Jordan had.
