It is hard to compare players across generations or eras. In Jordan's last year with the Bulls, the Lakers led the league in scoring at 105.5 PPG. That Lakers team would rank 27th in today's NBA in PPG.

Throughout Jordan's career, the NBA adapted rules to curb scoring, help defenses and stop teams from running ISO plays. From the day that LeBron James entered the league 2003-04, the NBA changed their rules to help improve scoring, due to the loss of Jordan and declining ratings. Eliminating the hand checking rule changed the NBA.

If you’re arguing that Lebron is the GOAT, you cannot use his scoring as justification.

I get your point but LeBron gets hammered on drives and it's rarely called. Plus I don't think any hand checking is gonna slow down or stop him from getting to the basket. Dude has the craziest size, strength, and athleticism combination in a basketball player I've ever seen.

(1) A "pass-first" player doesn't score that much. Doesn't make sense. (2) If he can score whenever he wants, then has certainly hasn't wanted to enough in the NBA finals.
He averaged damn near 40 against Golden State.

But he is. He's the athletic Magic Johnson.
He is a ball-dominant player whose best move is attack the basket. He is a willing and smart passer, but he is not a pass-first player. And a good thing too, because he is more skilled at scoring than passing. His best passes are when he leverages his threats to score.

1. MJ waaaaay above the rest.
2. Bird most underrated. One of the Best passers and shooters of all time(top two in both)excellent rebounder
3. Magic: clutch, dominant, and wins
4. Lebron: despite mailman size would struggle with 80’s 90’s physical play and D. Can’t shoot. Freak athlete and size
5. Dream:clearly most skilled post player all time
5b. Shaq. Too big for comp

I like your five. Just not the order. And I will admit I am a Jordan hater. The only player to get better after he retired. Magic was my number 1 until about 4 years ago when Lebron Passed him.

Jordan played in a MUCH more physical era.

Would be interesting to see Lebron's reaction to being horse-collared by Laimbeer.
There were only 3 or 4 teams that were real physical. It's a myth that the 80's and 90's were more physical than now. Lebron would be the second biggest guy in the league in the 90's behind only Shaq and he would be the biggest guy in the 80's. His basketball IQ is second to none so he would dominate in any era.

No. Sorry. You’re not close on this one.

Derek Harper hand-checked so much he’d steer players around the court. This was routine he was just the best.

Players routinely got stitches on “routine fouls”.
Now intent not result brings a flagrant 1–at least.

It’s not a close comparison. That’s why they changed the rules.

LeBron is one of those guys who haters have a hard time making great arguments against, so they choose whether or not to count certain years based on what results they want.

Scoring? Oh yeah we can't count all those years, other people weren't ready to play out of high school so somehow that hurts LeBron.

Championship series? Oh now we have to count those early years when he dragged one of the worst teams ever to the finals and hold it against him that he made it there, unlike MJ who was could not make it to the finals in that time period.

What are these “political views” that you guys keep referring to, and why would they keep you from appreciating a talent like LeBron James?

No one uses 2007 against Lebron. Some just don’t use it as a cudgel against a Jordan who had a different set of opponents when he was the same age.

ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME , but such a PITA crybaby its hard to root for him , and the whole dog n pony show with ESPN and Miami .
Yeah, at a pep rally for Miami fans he said he really thought they could win multiple championships if the came together and played the right way, not 1 , not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7. That's greatly upset you and you call it a dog and pony show but he's the crybaby. More irony.

In 2004 all the leading scorers from 2003 took a hit in scoring, how is that possible if handchecking was so important?

Oh, because zone defenses which was allowed in 2004 had a far greater impact than handchecking.

Zone defense was allowed back earlier than that, sometime back during the Shaq threepeat. There was a few years of rule changes that took a few years of digesting. Nothing was overnight. But suffice to say that a game that gave offensive players more freedom as it pushed the tempo would have been an ideal environment for Jordan.

The zone defense and latest handcheck rule happened in 2004. They added zone to help defenses since they were eliminating handchecking which had already been a rule for decades.

Google says 2001-2002 was the first season they got rid of the illegal defense rule, which sounds right for my memory of it being sold as the anti-Shaq rule.

LeBron is an All-Time great talent. Fantastic athlete & BB-IQ. He’s also a coach killer and started the whole trend of guys in their prime joining super teams. Some guys are narcissistic, some guys are humble and guys like LeBron are so narcissistic they think they’re humble.

NO!! most people tune in to sports to get away from politics, not to hear someone who thinks they are politically relevant because they were born to be 6' 8" and play with a ball!!

Again, can someone point me to this “political” stuff that LeBron is doing on the court??

Also, most people don’t tune in to sports to get away from politics. Most people don’t sit around judging everyone and everything from a political slant.

Most people tune in to sports to see something awesome, like a 4 OT playoff game or the Cavs beating the Warriors in game 7 of the finals.

But seriously...how in the hell do you hear the name “Lebron James” and immediately think of politics? What has this guy done that I’m unaware of?

And did you poll a statistically representative # people who watch sports to come to this conclusion?

Watch the Rockets and Warriors game tonight. Guys still hand check like crazy.
You named 1 player and he's supposed to make the whole league physical. Like I said outside of 3 or 4 teams, the NBA in the 80's and 90's weren't some monster physical teams.

no i don't trust poll's..maybe you and Hillary shouldn't have either..
But also both of your posts don't address the statement of his politics making people unable to appreciate a talent like LeBron, which is what I was addressing in the first place. So congratulations on proving my point.

You can ask but they wont answer. I been asking for years why a free agent having a special that raised money for kids upset them so, they can't answer. I've also been asking for years why the Miami prep rally upset them so, they can't answer that either. I guess you can just chalk it up to them being haters.

It’s a different game and all, but this notion that there were only 3 or 4 physical teams is silly. It was a post-oriented world and everyone collided in the middle and hard fouls were coached as the smart play.

The pep rally was just grandstanding fluff that you usually don’t see until championship parade. Silly but eh. But you kind of answered your own question about the Decision. It was a shameless PR move that held multiple teams hostage when the outcome was already known to Lebron, dressed up as a gimmick charity event with live children props. It was so crass it defied logic.
