JMO, but if Calipari were to jump to Texas, it would be a terrible look for him. Just finishing a 9-16 season and catching some guff from fans because of it. Then, bolting to a lower tier program to escape the heat without fixing the mess HE created? That's a punk move and I can't believe his ego would allow that.
Not arguing he shouldn't do it, just stating that the optics would be really bad.

Cals Honeymoon is over Texas for sure has the money. Cal would probably benifit with a new start. I'm not anti Cal. Just think he may do better. Now let's see if it happens how many coaches that are better that would take the job line up. I won't be shocked if it happens

He might go down there, change his ways, adapt to the modern game, recruit like he did 10 years ago and be a huge success. However, he's not going to be doing any of those things here so would it really be a big loss for us to have him walk away?

But are they willing to pay a guy $9 million a year plus $1 million every year after he retires till he dies? I’ve heard NBA guys laughing at how ludacrus a lifetime contract is.
I have no idea if they will but they can if they want to.

That’s not his contract. He does not get $1 million for life.

I don't think you understand. If Cal leaves you're not getting Coach K, Brad Steven's etc. You're going to go backwards. All I can say is I told you so when it happens.
You probably need to be lining up some sick days so you can be off from work.

You're not going to handle it well when Cal packs up his carpet bag and heads to Texas.

That's why Cal said everything would work out in 2-3 weeks. His agent has probably been shopping him around like a two bit who er trying to find a new landing spot for the King.

I would like to see Coach Cal figure things out and get UK back on top again. If not, there isn't anything I can do a about it, so no sense in losing any sleep over it.
But if Coach Cal thinks fans got mad over stuff here at UK like taking a knee or some of his other social agendas he likes to push, wait till he pulled that crap down in Texas.
They like the flag down there pretty good and don't like all this "woke" BS being shoved down our throats one bit.

Austin is a "woke" city. It's a perfect place for anyone who wants to appear "down for Wokeness" but also clean up financially with no state income taxes. Best of both worlds.

Haven’t read whole thread but hopefully someone has correct the first few pages
Buyout is one way - Cal has no buyout and they should let him walk freely to get out of that crazy contract they gave him.
Go get a Scott Drew - Dana Altman - Nate Oats
Cal has stayed long enough- fans are burned out with schtick

Then I'd hate his guts as much as Pitino

Cal you can leave in good graces if you just GO. Just be gone GO. You divided the fan base past the point of no return and the only way we come back together is to start over, without you. Please do the right thing and get out of Lexington. GO

The mutual respect between many fans and Calipari has ended. Just GO Barney make him GO

Not worried about Cal leaving. He needs a new gig so he can get back to being the guy he was. No matter how good he ends up being wherever he goes, he won’t deliver the same results here if he stays. He’s become complacent-maybe Texas can help relight the fire he once had.

Yeah. I mean I don’t wish harm on him or anything of the sort but I wish for him to leave. He’s wayyyy past his prime and his model is broken AF. Boring basketball with way way to much emphasis on getting 2nd tier 5 stars for 7 months.

He runs exactly zero offense. None. “Go make a play”

Appreciate the ride Calipari but you’ve also lost the respect and support from majority of the fan base and it will never come back.

Cal walks that saves KY a ton of millions. Who would ever think the Indiana and KY job open at the same time.

As long as Mitch is doing the hiring, definitely no thanks. We lucked out on getting Cal and Stoops seems to be a good hire. However, some of his other choices make me terrified as to who would be the next HC.

Give him Cal, we take Few or Oats. That's a fair trade. There's a good chance that Oats wins a natty this year, and he is my number one option to replace Cal. Then it's Few then KP. The fanbase needs a shot of energy and I think Oats would bring that.

Of course, all of this is Null if Swaggy Cal comes back and makes a FF run next year.

The only thing I'd say here is that if Cal does leave, next year might be REALLY bad. We'd lose basically every recruit and whomever got hired would have a really bare roster. Could be a lean couple of years to right the ship.
