How does the lineman who has won championships with no deal handle a big money QB with 6 figures before he ever takes a snap?
Talked about this last night at dinner. Will be interesting for sure. Will a Qb making 1.4 mil throw money to each of his ol? This legal? How many qbs or star players would want to give money out? Going to get interesting. The big ugliest in the nfl at least have a few million! College OL value will be interesting.
Not the first guy to question it. I think it will work out as long as the high paid player continues to work his *** off for the team, and maybe buys presents for his linemen. If he starts putting himself and his deals above the team, you may have issues.
If these college programs are smart they will make a money management/tax class mandatory for its athletes.
This education like most should have been started by mom and dad a long time before college. This is one of our society's failings, a general lack of understanding of basic economics.

Y'all know what side of the spectrum I am on but this is a white privilege answer if there ever was one. Most people in this country have no clue on basic economics. When you get into places where some of these kids come from their parent or parents might not even have a checking account. Also basic economics doesn't cover the money some of these NIL kids are making.

I have posted this before. If these colleges were smart they would each have a curriculum on professional sports. It is a major industry in this country and much of the world. You can have classes on finance, communication, law, marketing, and the athletic side of it. Why should a kid who goes to school and wants to be a pro athlete have to pick a totally different career path to study. Of course they can if they want, but give those who want to be pro athletes, or be in that industry, an option of purely concentrating on being the best they can be in their chosen path. They shouldn't be limited on their time spent with the highest paid people in the school.
I hate the term. My point is that was the type of statement they get to use as an example to coin the phrase. To assume that all parents could teach their kids basic economics is silly.
Yes I agree if everyone practiced individual responsibility it would be Utopia; and my preferred form of it. The problem is Utopia can't exist either as a communal or an individually responsible society. When I went to school we did receive some life lessons and not just scholastic lessons. I think it would be something good to have available for those who weren't able to get it at home. Especially when all of a sudden a person that comes from the lower economic levels all of a sudden is earning millions of dollars. Basic Income does not totally cover that situation.
