Tarboro is very battle tested for sure. I expect some trash talk this whole week haha. I imagine swe is gonna try to replicate the success mez harris from hunt had against Tarboro since Mayo can run also. One thing is for sure, Tarboro can't turn it over.SWE fans, players & coaches are looking at the games that Tarboro has played & assuming that THS isn’t good but trust me when I say that humble pie is coming. Defense stepped up big against Havelock 2nd half only allowing one TD. IMO that game should’ve been a blowout for Tarboro. Tarboro is clicking on offense. Will SWE be able to stop the run game will be the question & can Tarboro be prepared for the passing game & mobile QB next week also? I have faith for sure. I’ll save my prediction for later this week

They will definitely be prepared. Our guys gotta come in lazer focused and prepared. Imo this is the best opportunity they've had to beat us in a good while. After this year though, who knows when the next big opportunity for the cougars may come.
We lost our best receiver,and tailback, also a lineman and a linebacker to the "transfer portal". And we really miss the wide out and tailback. Depth is our main issue. Hell, our QB is playing safety, a recipe for disaster. DJ will need to come up big for SW to hang in there with the Vikes. Yall's offense only needs 2 1/2 yards a carry to keep the chains moving, it's very hard to stop,. If the Vikes play like they did against Havelock they will win. If they make some mistakes and penalties SW can't allow Tarboro to overcome them and sustain drives. #17 is a beast..He's a damn problem son..He's in the backfield fast. We're gonna have to chip him with the tailback like Havelock did. Even with a double team he's getting pressure and drawing holding penalties. Hopefully we can keep it a one possession game and pull something out of our butt to win it.
17 and his brother, number 3, are studs. Thankfully we've got a few more years with 17
I hope the start doesn't get pushed up. We got too many guys playing both ways. At our Hertford County game there was noticably more security especially around the back of the school. The sheriff's department was even flying drones around. When the games are at SW they used to keep the fans separated by putting up a fence between the away stands and the concession stand and they would bring in porta johns and have an extra food truck on the visiting side. All because y'all always starting trouble.
Last time at Tarboro was a Saturday game. I liked it too. With some promotion, it could be turned into a community event and fundraiser for both schools. Like, a whiffle ball tourny, 3 on 3 basketball tournament. A skills competition, like maybe field goal competition. A chicken wing competition cook-off. All sorts of stuff to raise money. Perhaps the winners could get free admission or a free hot dog. Anything to get more people in the stands.
That honestly sounds like a great idea. I think many would get on board with that. If you turn it into a big community event it would raise a lot of money for both schools for sure. Regarding more people in the stands, they actually said last year's game was the most attended Tarboro Southwest game ever which Idk about that. The sheriff said that in his press conference last year. I'm pretty sure 09 and 17 had way more people
I was working last year, but those mid and late 80's games was standing room only. And a couple of games when Raymond came over was really packed and had a college feel to the pregame. I remember getting there an hour early just to be sure to get my regular spot against the fence on the 40.

Yeah that comment surprised Me to. Zero chance it was the most attended game ever. I wasn't at the game in 2009, but I've heard it was packed like a college game packed. My senior year in 17 was packed to.
I saw a few Southwest faithful at the game last night including a assistant coach. I'm sure they were doing some scouting. It may not be the passing game for Southwest that is the difference it may be the legs of quarterback Mayo.
Yea, him extending plays with his legs is something that I worry about
With the unrelenting heat we have been having and the tendency for it to still be really hot in Sept. I don't think it would be good for the fans or players to ever have that game on a Sat. afternoon unless it get pushed up way into October. An afternoon game could easily have a heat index of well over 100 degrees in eastern NC even some weeks into Sept. If I was a fan, I sure wouldn't want to sit in a blast furnace like that in the sun for 2-3 hours. It is still miserable and hot even at 7pm. But at least the sun is starting to set a little at this time of year by 7pm. I haven't looked at the forecast for late next week, but hopefully this heat gets the heck outta here.
I see your point. The thing is with September sometimes it can be really hot sometimes it can be cool outside. I do miss when Tarboro and SWE would be in the same conference it added more to the rivalry. Maybe one of these days they can be in the same conference again.
