At first glance it seems like a bit of a reach, but could be a late bloomer that hasn't hit up any camps to get his name out there.

he'll have at least 3 stars by week's end

rivals rankings aren't the end all be all. lots of kids out there to evaluate, this here website doesn't employ thousands of dorks with clipboards

I trust our staff to evaluate much more than the clouses and callahans of the world

How is his camp history effecting his rating? If he isn’t going there that limits exposure. What is his actual on the field work reflect?

Sounded to me like this kid is an example of the staff knowing this area well and the staff having confidence in their own evaluations rather than waiting for other schools to offer and just go off of that. And he was starting to get a lot more interest so the staff wanted a commitment from him early, thus the official visit this summer. If you're confident in your evaluation, it's better to lock him up early if you feel that it's likely that the kid will garner a lot more interest in the fall.

Good luck with this one. Not even rated.

Neither was the QB we offered a couple weeks ago. Within a few days after we offered, he had offers from LSU, Oregon, Washington State, and Utah.

Cam Taylor and Braxton Clark were not highly rated, but they have impressed while the higher-rated guys (Cam Jones and CJ Smith) didn't even last a year here.

I remember back when I ran a 22.7 vs "End Zone" Jones and Kenny Clark, I used to ask them to save me a coke and popcorn when they were done, fwiw! so not exactly top shelf RB speed even back then, but getting it done none the less. Congrats & welcome aboard young man!
found this tidbit, grandpa played for Bobby B.

Dicaprio Bootle was a 2-star recruit when he committed to Nebraska. A 2-star is worse than a kid who isn’t rated. And Bootle will play on sundays. He’s a helluva a CB. Arguably Riley’s best recruiting work was on Bootle. Yes he landed better commits but Bootle wasn’t a crystal clear land. Finding Bootle is about the only high Praise I have for Riley.

But all the same negative things you can say about this kid, we said about Bootle. Diamonds in the ruff aren’t suppose to happen in Miami or Orlando. These kids are well exposed to coaching staffs, recruiting gurus, etc. but guess what? They happen. All the time. I will say Bootle had/has better speed then this kid but still not worried about it.

Dicap ended up a 5.5 3*, but the kid has some wheels. Sub 11 100 and sub 22 200. Lynum must be a kid Fisher liked enough to lock him up early.

For those who complain about commits, do you seriously think this staff is going to take a kid in June that they aren’t high on?! Do you have some deep-seeded fear that HCSF and staff secretly want to destroy the program by recruiting kids that don’t fit their system and/or can’t play a lick of football?! Get real.

I have 1000% confidence in everything this staff is doing - THEY know what they want/need and are going to recruit the kids which give us the best chance to win.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride people - it’s an exciting time to be a Husker! The glass isn’t half-empty anymore!!

Tamon Lynum Is a 3 star on 24/7. I’ll take him, he does have that D Bootle feel to him. 6’2 180 range. Has a 33.20 vertical and 4.3 shuttle. And the lack of high D1 offers now...oh well. We have seen this staff offer players and then suddenly LSU and the other big boys come knocking. Any Iowa fan wanting to talk crap...you may want to look at every recruiting class you ever had...it’s full of 3 star players like this guy. Just give it a week or 2, I bet he’s a 5.5-5.6 3 star on Rivals. ;)

I wouldn’t worry about initial rankings.

This time a year ago a Safety named Kyle Hamilton was a LOW 3 Star, almost a 2 Star on Rivals. On signing day he was a 5 Star & #1 ranked Safety in the country (15th overall) by another service. (High 4 Star by Rivals).

weird, it's almost as if things change quickly with 16-17yr olds.. who'd have thought!

Yeah, you have to trust your own coaching staff’s ability to evaluate talent.

And us Huskers definitely do. We have seen them offer a player and then other D1 one teams come calling right after. Shows a lot in itself.

He should also have offers from about 10 other P5 schools
