6 freshman on the DL on the two deep including 2 starters. There's not many SEC teams Bama included that wouldn't have a big drop off with that many freshman playing on the DL in the rugged SEC. Hell, our only Sr is Autry who's suspended pretty much the whole year. That's a lot to over come.

Because you're not critically thinking. We get on the coaching carousel and you are MUCH more likely to spiral out of control. See Maryland getting rid of Durkin, see Tennessee, see Arkansas, see FSU, see A&M minus the 2 Manziel years, see Miami, etc. etc. Every time you change coaches you almost destroy a recruiting class. Fire JoMo this year and that's 2 of 3 recruiting classes hat will be virtually destroyed for what is likely to be a no different hire. There are so many roster holes from Dan's mismanagement plus all the other stuff that we are having to deal with. He's going to get next year absent an epic meltdown a la 2002. Because then you likely lose the recruiting class either way. But if we are 6-6 or better (which is most likely) you simply can not even consider letting him go.

I guess you didn't understand my post Triton. The fact of the matter is you can all whine and cry about our coach and argue over when he should be replaced and who we should go hire but when it's all said and done our coaches name will still be Joe Moorhead next year and the year after that because the people who have the ability to fire him are not consulting this board

Wait...WHAT?!?! I thought all coaches, players, recruits, and others of influence were influenced by this board. ***

Makes me sick to think of it. I'm still not 100% sure firing Joe this year is the better choice, but I am damn sure worried about the "other costs" we'll pay if Joe does ultimately crash & burn and we don't do anything about it until Ole Miss is on an equal or even stronger footing with us. How often do we get a chance to position ourselves as clearly better?

It's one helluva conundrum. Both sides of this coin can be the right or wrong choice, and the wrong choice can be absolutely disastrous for us.

THIS RIGHT HERE. (sorry but I just borrowed the parts that summed it up perfectly - saved me from typing).

I appreciate his enthusiasm but he is getting close to making this board unreadable.

I'm hoping we win Saturday so he will disappear like he did after we beat Kentucky.

I would add that our ability to take, "the next step up" rather than go back is affected by our relative status vs our in-state rival, Ole Miss. Part of moving up is establishing our program as much superior to Ole Miss so we can capitalize on recruiting relative to them. We have been better, and at this point should be much better...but that is looking questionable now.

If Joe runs us into the ground this year and next, any chance we had of taking that step are gone. In fact, it's entirely possible we'll become the ones getting "stepped on" by Ole Miss. We will have completely wasted away the chance we had to put Ole Miss in our rear view for years to come, thus making moving up later much more challenging.

That said, firing Joe and hiring the wrong guy to replace him could make things as bad or worse. As much as I am disillusioned with this team under Joe, I can't simply dismiss the fact it is just year 2, he is using mostly Dan's recruits, he has lost 3 first rounders on D, is dealing with suspensions that are hurting us, and his QB got injured. There is enough there to give me pause about Joe's actual quality and potential as HC. He still may well be a great coach for us if he has his guys playing his system the way it is supposed to be played.

It's one helluva conundrum. Both sides of this coin can be the right or wrong choice, and the wrong choice can be absolutely disastrous for us.

Neither Ole Miss nor State can take over Mississippi recruiting from the other. It just doesn't happen. It didn't happen for State in 2010-11 when we dominated over OM and they had a 14-game SEC losing streak, and it didn't happen for OM after they won 10 games in 2003 and we were 2-10. I'm not saying it's impossible, it's just never really happened despite opportunites for both schools, at least since we got Sherrill in 1991. If anything, Ole Miss dominated Mississippi signing day 2011 after their bad season and we went to the Gator Bowl (they signed CJ Johnson, Singleton, Brassell, Moncreif, Gholson, and Aaron Morris from the Mississippi top 10 to our Dee Arrington).

For us. Firing a coach and hiring a homerun is not that easy. Look at our last coaching search. The best we could come up with was Morris, Pruitt, and Joe. Look at our last baseball search. Everyone thought we were pulling Vandy, Louisville, or TCU coaches. Look what happened when we let Stansbury go. Can’t remember the names but everyone thought we were about to land some up and coming mid major coaches. Hell look at the last basketball search. We lucked into Howland because of Adidas. .

A winning, proven head coach isn’t coming here. We’re taking a retread or a coordinator. I’m not arguing for or against Joe. I’m saying we’re not Alabama and it’s not that easy.

Go ahead and say this is a woah is me lil ol MS State attitude. It’s not. It’s reality.

I'm not saying we should change coaches by any means but if we did, there aren't many home run hires out there for ANYONE to hire. Even if you are a Top20 FBS program there aren't many guys out there that will guarantee success. Heck, I'm sure Michigan thought they had a NC in the bag when they hired Jim Harbaugh. BUT, we could hire pretty much ANY G5 head coach OR P5 coordinator we wanted. Now, just like Mullen and Moorhead, you aren't really going to know for sure what you've got until they get on the job but that's a big pool of people to choose from.

Anyone who wonders why we are in our current dilemma, why we can't stop the run, why we can't cover anyone look at the roster. Everyone who thinks we have talent and should be able to compete with anyone should study the roster. We are doing better with recruiting but we have to improve more. Hard to go toe to toe with teams that signed one of the top ten classes for the last 10 years.

Mullen was practically an understudy to Urban Meyer for a number of years..you might say Meyer was his mentor...not the same for Moorhead

I just want you guys to know I have read and understood your feelings on this matter. I am pro Joe but due to the overwhelming arguments presented here I have instructed my secretary to draft a letter of termination. This will be sent out before noon Thursday to Joseph Moorhead c/o MSU Athletic Dept. I will have to run it thru my law department to be proofread. Obviously we will have to negotiate the buy out but I'm confident the $8 million will be well spent. As soon as is proper I will release my list of potential candidates for your approval. I will request you rate them and we will get out there and get our new coach. Hail State

are we reaching out to Bama fans? But you’re probably right. They don’t know **** about the subject.

Correct Bama fans don't know **** about the subject cause they're all inbred ruhtards. Saban is the only one responsible for Bama's success. That's it. Take Saban away and it's a state full of ruhtards and Bama goes back to being Auburn in football again.
