Who the heck is Jay Williams?

Never heard of him. And I guess now I know why.

Story goes his mom was offered a “ job “ in the area though committed to us only days away from signing officially...it was really odd... his claim was he really really really wanted to stay home at RU... screw Jay Williams.

I don’t believe that is the case. He never committed to RU and committed to Duke in the summer.

Class move by jay Williams owning up to it.

Not really. He needed to post something to cover his absurd prediction before getting hammered on twitter. It was a rivalry game, historically very close scores, RU already played teams better than SHU close this year. Plus its obvious Pikiell and staff are the real deal and would have them ready. Its unbelievable anybody would have actually predicted a blow out.

Jay is a member at the country club I used to work at. I told him the story I had been told and asked him about it.

He responded, Duke is Duke and I couldn’t pass it up.

Jay Williams bio book "Life is No Accident" is one of the best sports bios I've ever read. After crashing his motorcycle and going thru countless surgeries, ending his career, he became addicted to painkillers and well...... just read the book.

Williams never gave RU an oral commitment. Everyone thought one was coming until his mother made him drive to Durham for a visit to Duke. After visiting Duke and meeting Coach K he committed to Duke.

That's how I remember it as well and I remember all of that way too vividly. He would have changed our history. But at the same time how do you blame a kid for picking Duke in basketball. You can't.

We won a huge game today let's be happy with that. At least the kid owned up to it like was posted above.

its one thing to predict a SHU win, its another thing to be an ahole and predict a 25 point SHU win especially in a rivalry game. Willaims proved himself a bit of an *** and pretty ignorant on college hoops with that statement but I am sure it got a lot of laughs and pats on the back in the ESPN studio

The same Jay Williams that tried to become the RU head coach, lol...

this...that this story was being pushed. like to know exactly what was the real story.....it would have been HORRIFIC...as if we needed a startup to coach because no one would touch us

Let's not forget Jay put RU in "Tier 4" in the B1G with only Nebraska joining us at the very bottom of the league. And that was after we got off to a great start this year.

He's the guy who cried in his car on the way down to his Duke visit.
He actually said that he cried when he called Banan to tell him he was not coming here. On the trip down to Duke he said he wasn’t speaking to his parents because he did not want to go. Of course, we know how that turned out.

He is a class act in contrast to some who post on here. He obviously made the right choice that any intelligent person would make.

Why would there be any ill will toward him? Lame
