They will be a very difficult out.
Same formula, Ron and Geo with 40 between them is guaranteed victory.
R and G with 30 is down to the wire.
R and G with 20 is a loss.
Rotations, subs, rebounding and defense are a given because without it, they aren’t hitting the 30 mark which is the minimum win number.
A gross over simplification I know

On a bad day Iowa still scores over 70 points because of their up tempo offense and trapping defense. There is no question that Harper and Baker must score more than 30 points to have any chance of winning.I would rather play Michigan State and Ohio State than Iowa right now because of the points they score.

Good take.
Keep in mind. Whatever the combination of 30 is between R and G, even if it’s 30 for Ron and 0 for Geo, means others are going to score..
When those two don’t combine for 30, nobody scores

You are right. But it appears on a good day they give up 70 points. Glad we have them at home.

Bro it's Geo... he has been here for a century now and it's 3 letters lol
Can you give me a brake, I know it’s Geo and have actually thought about when addressing him.
I had a brain cramp.
What do you think of my summation?😊

I said something similar in a thread recently.

Geo and Ron both have good games is a win

One does and typically close

Neither and it's a sure loss

Part of that is about who they’ve played. A lot of other fast tempo teams and not too many PSU types.

We need to continue to defend the perimeter and protect the basketball. If we do those 2 things we can hold Iowa under 70. The key is limiting their 3s. We’ve been really good with this since getting Geo back.

I think we underscore the influence the both of them have on secondary scoring.
It’s not just the 40 between them that leads us to victory …it’s the increased contributions of Caleb and Paul specifically that will put us over the top.
Cliff will still get his 10 either way

When Geo and Ron both score it allows the rest of the role players to play within their roles. Everything looks smoother bc of it.

Rutgers players vs Iowa,
RHJ 5 games, 34-61, 3pt 20-29 69%, FT 14-32, 94 points
Geo 6 games, 26-60, 3pt 9-31, FT 6-8, 67 points, 32ast, 13stl
Caleb 5 games, 9-33, 3pt 3-14, FT 5-7, 26 points
Paul 3 games, 6-12, 3pt 2-4, FT 1-2, 15 points

RHJ will show up, shooting a ridiculous 69% from 3 vs Iowa, it's just a matter of can we get more from the rest of team to win this.

Harper has completely owned Iowa

Wondering the same thing. I’m going with Harper.
Agree, I think Harper needs to guard Murray. Need as much post defense as perimeter defense, and Harper has the best combination of defense.

Geo on Toussaint
Caleb on Bohannon - take him out of the game
Paul on P. McCaffrey
Harper on Murray
Cliff on Rebraca

That's probably the matchup. I worry about Geo keeping Toussaint from penetrating.

I'd have Harper take it inside and see if he can't force a quick foul or two on Murray. Make him work on D and bang to wear him down a bit

I love that Iowa won this game at Minnesota. This Iowa team is nowhere near as good as the last few. Iowa will be aggressive and try to take it to RU early so we better be ready on defense. I think we will slow their offense down alot.
I hope you’re right . Bohannon still there

We have held some supposedly high scoring teams below their average

Our defense can rise to the occasion

we do have to score ourselves

it may work out like that, but I hate having Harper guard the other team’s best player. Him in foul trouble would be very bad

I am putting Caleb on Murray before I put Ron on him. We cannot afford to get Ron in foul trouble. Caleb has the length and moxie to stay with him and take the defensive assignment personal as his main contribution to a successful game plan . We can also try Ron for some time thereafter. That is the only spot that they have an advantage. Otherwise , we match up really well everywhere else. I do not think they can stay with any of our starting five with the rest of their team.

I also break their press for layups all day. We have to keep them off the glass and rebound on both ends. I think Cliff can have a monster game if we get him involved early. They are not a good defensive team and we have to be very aggressive so we get to the line early and often.
We need one of our old fashioned defensive lockdowns and continue the defense from the Maryland game.

I like that we have an extra day to prepare for them than they have to prepare for us.

For as good as we are at the rac, we don’t beat iowa

Just a general question, where have you been in recent years in regards to Iowa.....you also predicted RU would lose to Maryland yesterday.

Iowa is an offensive team that does not play consistent defense. The 3 point line will be available, driving lanes open....someone on Iowa has to box out Cliff, or he's going to have 3 to 5 dunks.....

If RU moves the ball the way they have in recent weeks, there should be wide open looks most of the night......players like Mulcahy should feast on Iowa.....

I would be shocked in RU doesn't get into the mid 70s to 80s....

They will double team Harper .Pass pass pass for points in paint

Iowa doesn't double team anyone on offense, they are looking to trade baskets and go shot for shot with their opponents.

I would imagine that Mag and Hyatt, along with Caleb, all get some assignments on Keegan Murray....Murray isn't going to stop anyone into the paint, Harper should bully-ball him inside and knock down 3s in transition.

Iowa is still the one team in the B1G that plays as well as anyone at home, but somehow that doesn't translate on the road.
