On a bad day Iowa still scores over 70 points because of their up tempo offense and trapping defense. There is no question that Harper and Baker must score more than 30 points to have any chance of winning.I would rather play Michigan State and Ohio State than Iowa right now because of the points they score.
This post made a lot of sense.. until we watched the game. And it still makes sense.

Rutgers shot 31% and 15% from 3 point land.

How the hell do we win a game like that? Against the 26th ranked team (also getting votes) who has a great offense? We even got hosed on fouls and calls in the first half.. amazing that it evened out for the game.

Dumbfounded.

Toussaint has given us trouble in the past. He’s their best on ball defender.

The good news is Bohannon has to guard someone. The last time we played them it didn’t matter - couldn’t take advantage. We passed the ball around the perimeter and chucked up bricks from 3 the whole game (28 attempts). And Wiescamp couldn’t miss. Fortunately he’s gone.
Toussaint was very good defensively tonight.

I thought Mag would be key guarding Murray.
I thought we would get a huge game from a secondary scorer.
During game I thought it was mistake having Harper guard Murray and deplete his tank.

I was 0 for 3
In theory Mag is a good matchup for Murray

Agree, I think Harper needs to guard Murray. Need as much post defense as perimeter defense, and Harper has the best combination of defense.

Geo on Toussaint
Caleb on Bohannon - take him out of the game
Paul on P. McCaffrey
Harper on Murray
Cliff on Rebraca
Think I got this right

I was wrong as ****

So were most of us, but it was a beautiful ugly win nonetheless. I would never have predicted that RU's stifling D would hold the most high-powered offensive team in the conference to just 46 points!

Fran is an above average coach who is completely focused on all offense....when Iowa has to get stops against similar talent or better talent, they rarely do.....
I think he’s underrated. Loses Garza and Weiskamp and still wins.

this game went nothing like any of us thought it would go 🤣
I didn’t think it would be as low scoring, poor shooting on both sides as it was, but I did think it was possible to win with defense, holding them under 70. Illinois is the only team that I’m not sure we can contain due to the combination of their inside presence and shooters.
