Iowa will have a lot of size on the the court this season.

Stirtz’ starting line-up goes 7’3, 6’9, 6’8’, 6’7, 6’4. Jirak 6’11, Harris 6’9, Thompson 6’8, Coon 6’7, and Howard 6’5 off the bench. Coleman the 6’2 “midget”.

That was seriously Bennett's lineup? What podcast?

Thompson sees the floor before Jirak and Harris. Maybe after Howard. And quite possibly after Coleman.

The competition this summer would be fun to see! Hope we get to see some film...

He said, a lot can change by the start of fall. Said freshmen are super athletic. Did mention Coons. He also BMc's son might surprise some folks.
Please God no.

Last thing the program/UI sports needs is more potential problems with nepotism complaints and disparagement. Still way too soon.

I would expect a lot of rotations, wonder if Ben might press a bit with more depth. Wonder if he ever pressed in D2.

After Bennett's starting five, I think the poster was just listing the remainder of the guys in order of height - not playing time.

I'd agree with Bennett on this one. You don't recruit a guy like McKeever and not have him start. Koch, Combs, and Manyawu are no brainers since they started last year. Sage always showed a lot of grit and fearlessness every time he stepped onto the court. He rose to the challenge during the tournament, I think he has a ton of upside and earned his place as a starter.

And, if Cam's offseason work on his jumper pays off, I'll be one happy camper. ;)

It's called "Swarmcast" with Eliot Clough on YT. It's put out by a rival site, so I won't link it here.
Thanks! Yeah, I listen to those guys too. I dropped YouTube (as much as I can), since I listen to podcasts a lot while driving, and YouTube just sucks for that... Spotify is much better. But the Swarmcast does not update their site there very well.

One comment by Ben last year was that he adjusts on offense year to year depending on his roster but defense always stays the same.
I think he is a firm believer in his half court defensive system and not giving the opponent any easy pathways to the bucket, which pressing can do.

This tall roster reminds me of some of dr.toms teams..he insisted on pressing on every possession despite not having quick players to execute it.
Do not expect Ben to go that route.

I'm not sure I would say Manyawu is a no brainer. He started all 37 games and averaged 6.6 pts, 4.6 rebounds, 19 minutes/game and only 20 total blocks. He doesn't shoot 3's and he's a liability at the end of the game with teams doing the "hack a shaq" special on him. I think you start Trey Thompson/Ethan Harris or Ty'Reek Coleman instead of Cam. You bring in Cam defensively when you need a big body on a Power Forward. I think McKeever and Jirak can man the center position.

Aside from what the defense will look like, I remember Ben emphasizing on more than one occasion what a great passer McKeever is. That's a big plus, having a big that can facilitate, in and out of the post.

1 out of 2 isn’t bad.
Well, at least you acknowledge one of them.

Most on here (that would bother to post at all) would claim I was 0-2.

Although I'm guessing there's more in you, you're kind of like Gonzaga, on this board. Clearly better than the rest of your conference. But then, it was always the West Coast conference, Zag Rebo.

But not sure what your claim of nepotism is

Not sure, eh?
-Father promotes family member (oldest son) to a senior position for which he has no experience.
-Son seriously underperforms in his elevated position by almost all objective measures.
-Son has employment contract amended by father’s boss to specifically to add a precise performance standard which needed to be reached in order to keep the job he was promoted to by his father.
-Son fails to meet the minimum performance goal imposed by contract.
-Son is terminated - not by father but by father’s boss.

Classic example of nepotism (predictably ending in failure).

How does no experience equal nepotism? Are you suggesting BF was not qualified for the position? If so, that's thoroughly laughable.

Are wins an objective measure? Considering the job of an OC is to help the team win, wins sure seem like an objective measure to me. Measure this: KF's winningest stretch at Iowa was with BF, as OC.

The foremost expert, and most informed person about the situation was KF. And given that he didn't fire BF, I'm guessing he didn't believe that BF was seriously underperforming, in every way. So, reality is always a nice option.

And anyone who understands the dynamic that led to the broken offense in '22/'23, understands that it's silly to put much weight into those seasons, when characterizing BF as an OC.

The 25 point stipulation was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen in sports

You have just clumsily identified a defining characteristic of nepotism: father unable to see and/or fully appreciate the obvious shortcomings of his underperforming son - a fact obvious to almost everyone else outside the relationship…..including father’s superior who acted to first place son on performance notice and then subsequently acting to remove him - steps the father was unwilling to do. No surprise.

I feel sorry for you.

Truly pathetic to not know that KF is beyond that.

Perhaps KF knew that the reason the offense stalled out in '22 had almost nothing to do with BF.

All people had to do, was simply listen to the man. KF was transparent about what was happening in '22/'23 the entire time. Everything he told us turned out exactly how he said it would
