Maybe at 3-9

If not merit based what is the outside pressure being applied for?
I said it immediately after Frost was fired. Trev was going to get pressure from Warren and media to make a minority hire. I would be happy to have a black man as our head coach but I’m not sure Mickey is qualified at this point. The problem is that there aren’t many young black head coaches moving up the ladder in the lower divisions and non-P5 conferences.

Some people want immediate ā€œequalityā€ in hiring but it has to start from the bottom and move up the chain. Promoting somebody to a head coaching position who isn’t ready isn’t fair to them either.

I don’t give a **** who he played for, he’s got the passion of BO Pelini and one of the best recruiters in the country. In case you haven’t noticed, WE DONT HAVE FRICKING FOOTBALL PLAYERS!! The biggest problem taken care of with MJ.
F. wrong. Our biggest problem is we have never developed kids. Get a clue

Ed Orgeron as DC. Imagine the recruits. Probably about 10-12 of these players would be on the field next year! But probably won't happen as we'll get some average Joe AGAIN!!

It’s time we flippy Mickey a pink slippy.

I like Mickey. He is a straight shooter. Today after the game he said the coaches need to recruit better. I can’t ever remember Bo, Mike or Scott ever saying that.
I like Mickey BUT that's pretty self serving. Of course he's going to say recruiting is the most important thing for the new head coach because that's his strength. And recruiting is important but it's not enough. You also have to develop players, manage the games well, make second half adjustments, etc.

There are plenty of passionate people that are great recruiters that are much better football coaches than Mickey Joseph.

Agree with you 100%. I don’t think Riley or Frost were very good at coaching and developing players. I also think they did not recruit very well.

There is nothing that galvanizes a locker room more than your head coach getting up to the podium and declaring we need better players after a loss

of course we need better players - but that is something you say in the coaches meetings or 1:1 with the AD not at the podium
I'm suprised this is the only time I've seen this posted. If there was any doubt these comments solidified it for sure.

Actually, I think we need to get back to the past. It seems nobody has the sack to actually do it. We didn't see any attempt at power run football.

I thought that is what we would see today, based on MJ's comments, but we didn't get that at all.

Every swinging dick that has come in here seems to want to do it their own way, and they fail.

I think if you put Tom's old offense back on the menu it would bring back some respect to the program and maybe some success.

Why is everyone so afraid to do what worked here for years?

I don't get it.

That's a damn good question. Fluffball is the great need for so, so many.......

Yeah really stupid comment and all you're doing is throwing your players under the bus. Mickey's not ready to be HC and he never will be at the P5 level.

When Smothers came in he did not play very good.

Why is it when we knock out another B1G team’s QB, the backup QB is equal or better? We have never had a capable backup QB here the last 5 years. Another shortcoming of the Frost era. So glad that turd is gone!
Might be because they built this offense around CT....

What necessarily was bad? How the offense called for him?
