And is doing just as ****** as frost… hire a new coach.
He's been even worse than Frost. Frost hadn't lost a game by more than 10 the last two years. Mickey's been blown out three times.
And is doing just as ****** as frost… hire a new coach.
No according to these dumbasses we should be winningThis might be true
Well, I'm not anointing MJ. I'm just a helluva lot more patient than most of you guys. And is doing just as ****** as frost… hire a new coach.
Our third-party recruiting rankings say otherwise .. we have div II coaching div I players .. your posting is div III at best!No according to these dumbasses we should be winningAny coach should’ve been able to run the table with these DIV II Players.
I saw some good things from players who haven't seen much PT yet. Mosai Newsom, Omar Brown, Javier Morton. Gunnerson got some PT. Hausmann seems like he's coming along. I have no idea why these guys haven't played much, but we shouldn't be redshirting anyone if Mickey hoped to have a chance. Besides that, the offense is the major weak point of this team and that's 100% on Mickey for not being able to put at least a serviceable product out there.I think all our players might be bad
I don't see any metrics to support trust in either guy. Joseph seems to be passionate and good as an assistant, and Alberts seems well spoken, but neither has done anything of note to help advance the program in their current roles. In fact, Alberts' decision to keep Frost last year just dynamited this year's team.Mickey is a great position coach, great recruiter and seems like a great guy. That being said he is NOT a great head coach. Hope Trev finds the right guy since this program is on life support.
The AD has his chance to fix this wreck shortly and I believe he will. He’s getting a TON of pressure though from outsiders to hire Mickey. It’s not solely merit based.I don't see any metrics to support trust in either guy. Neither of them were getting much help from their O line. Michigan’s D line >>>>>our O lineThat's not saying much.
With our O line, no QB is going to look good back there.Neither of them were getting much help from their O line. Michigan’s D line >>>>>our O line
Frost dynamited this program. Alberts will be judged by the results of his hire. MJ is not the answer.I don't see any metrics to support trust in either guy. I like Mickey. He is a straight shooter. Today after the game he said the coaches need to recruit better. I can’t ever remember Bo, Mike or Scott ever saying that.Hopefully wherever Mickey lands, they will have a message board for you. Joking….mostly. He is a great ambassador for Nebraska and I hope he is kept on board in some capacity.
Mickey is a great wide receivers coach. He just isn't a great head coach. I hope the next head coach retains him because he can recruit and he knows how to coach wide receiversI like Mickey. He is a straight shooter. Today after the game he said the coaches need to recruit better. I can’t ever remember Bo, Mike or Scott ever saying that.
Maybe at 3-9Some would rather see a husker alum be coach than actually see huskers win games. Mickey is a disaster and would be a big one. This is big boy blue blood football, not the make a wish foundation, sorry
If not merit based what is the outside pressure being applied for?The AD has his chance to fix this wreck shortly and I believe he will. He’s getting a TON of pressure though from outsiders to hire Mickey. It’s not solely merit based.
I love Mickey. I want him to stay on staff but I believe this job right now is probably too big for him. I think we a guy who has done it elsewhere successfully. JMO
Aren’t they technically short staffed with two of the coaches gone? No one filled those spots, people just moved around right? He's got the same players and staff (sans Chins) as Scott Frost.
Did he mention anything about player development? I find it really hard to believe that this is strickly a talent issue across the board. When it comes to the o line they need to recruit and develop light years better.I like Mickey. He is a straight shooter. Today after the game he said the coaches need to recruit better. I can’t ever remember Bo, Mike or Scott ever saying that.
Talent needs an upgrade. But the talent we have is also under developed. Thanks SF and CO.I don’t give a **** who he played for, he’s got the passion of BO Pelini and one of the best recruiters in the country. In case you haven’t noticed, WE DONT HAVE FRICKING FOOTBALL PLAYERS!! The biggest problem taken care of with MJ.
Actually, I think we need to get back to the past. It seems nobody has the sack to actually do it. We didn't see any attempt at power run football.I just don't understand the Mickey love. What has he done this year, or even in his entire career, to make people believe he is the guy who can rebuild a program that is in the toilet? Is it because he was a former player here? After Scott Frost, and Greg Austin and Barrett Ruud and Ryan Held, I don't know why anyone would think that matters. Hiring coaches because they played here has not worked out well.
We need to let go of the past, and start from scratch.
Lay off the sauce MJ is a average wr coach, ****** headcoach........and a overrated recruiter.I don’t give a **** who he played for, he’s got the passion of BO Pelini and one of the best recruiters in the country. In case you haven’t noticed, WE DONT HAVE FRICKING FOOTBALL PLAYERS!! The biggest problem taken care of with MJ.
Is everybody drunk. Stop the madness.why not have Bo Ruud be coach. He’s a former coach and he has what it takes!!!
Your drunk also.I'm with u, op. I've never been before...but I'm with you this time.
There is nothing that galvanizes a locker room more than your head coach getting up to the podium and declaring we need better players after a lossI like Mickey. He is a straight shooter. Today after the game he said the coaches need to recruit better. I can’t ever remember Bo, Mike or Scott ever saying that.
The Smothers drumming is only because we have seen more Purdy….until the 2nd half against Michigan. Now the drum is broken. Without CT, we can’t complete forward passes, or take snaps, or for ***** sake, line up correctly.Since Thompson got injured I've seen this bizarre Smothers drumming.
While neither qb will lead us to victory Smothers has nothing to offer. Yesterday he had 16 yards of offense. Not even sure how that happens with a qb. In the last two games he's led us to a whopping 3 points.
When Smothers came in he did not play very good.If Smothers is even serviceable **** MJ. He should have started
Well I’m glad he finally said what everyone already knows! Only about 10% of the roster actually produces. Who cares if the other 90% get butthurt because they are lazy, not motivated, scared, or have low football IQ to try and make a difference and help the team. There is nothing that galvanizes a locker room more than your head coach getting up to the podium and declaring we need better players after a loss
of course we need better players - but that is something you say in the coaches meetings or 1:1 with the AD not at the podium
If our running game isn't working, then we have to pass. If we run the ball over and over but don't get first downs, what does that accomplish?I'm really disappointed with Whipple.
I was expecting to see a run game, with the way MJ talked about the coaches needing to be ok with 3 yards a run.
I did not see a run game, really of any sort.
Technically, we ran it 29 times and passed 19 times, so it was 60% run, but the way the game was called, Whip just called a more balanced type of his usual game, rather than any kind of specific run game strategy.
I feel there is a big disconnect between Whip and MJ.. we hear one thing, but get something else.
I thought Chubba played just okay. He was basically a 50% passer, which isn't great, but no interceptions.
I was hoping to see Yant, but he was nowhere to be seen. Also disappointed with the running back coach. All running backs seem to have regressed this year and even Grant looks like a lesser version of what he used to be earlier in the season.
I still think there is a prob with the way Whip runs the offense, it's like he can only do it one way, and if you don't have a QB who can run it correctly, then Whip doesn't have much else to offer in the way of flexibility or otherwise.
I do not want Whipple back as an OC next year.
As to MJ.. I wonder why we have this disconnect with what he says, and with what Whip does. It makes me wonder if he has trouble controlling Whip, of if Whip just does whatever he wants.
This question makes me wonder a lot about the effectiveness of MJ as a head coach. He sets the rules, and if a coach isn't doing what you are telling him, it's insubordination.
Either way, I don't like seeing the language of MJ running down the sideline cursing.. you can see that plain as day, and I do not like it, at all. It's a massive turn off to me, and does not set a good example.
So, my criticisms of MJ are the language, and my question of if he has and can control the staff underneath him.
Trev is privy to the control issues and understands that dynamic better than we can as fans, but it's a question I have, on why we hear one thing and get something different.
I'm sure someone has filled Scott's bar stool.Aren’t they technically short staffed with two of the coaches gone? No one filled those spots, people just moved around right?
