Need receivers as a package deal. We will trade some high grade turf for your athletic fields for good receivers.

Internet Drama...

Exactly, did any of you WATCH our QB play during the Spring Game?? It was NOT good. And we have a number of open scholarships and by getting a guy that is intimately familiar with the Moorhead offense have a CHANCE to improve the most important position on the field. Only MSU fans would complain about that. Competition makes everyone better and right now Thompson, even if he wins the job, needs to improve a lot as a passer.

Welcome aboard Mr. Stevens! Now get your butt to work and save Jomo's job for another year!!***

Glad to get him, and I imagine he was promised the starting position unless he gets beat out in the fall, yea right.... Maybe he will be everything Fitz was and KT is and a passer!

Competition is a fact of life if you can't deal with it you probably should

evaluate whether competitive sports is for you. You have to compete.

If he can just run the offense, that will be acceptable to me. It was very frustrating watching Fitz and Key last year not being able to execute in the passing game.

I've never been so happy to get a backup before but I like it!

He’s your 2019 starting QB and it won’t be a competition. Moorhead might say it’s a competition because that’s coach speak. He’s not coming here to back anyone up. Hopefully KT plays limited for 4 games and can still redshirt

Me too. Gives us another year to develop Schader and Mayden. I do feel a little bad for KT but he simply has not stepped forward as we had hoped. He still can come August, but I see him transferring in Dec.

Why would he transfer in December? Stevens will be gone by then and Thompson would have another year in the system, and may have 2 years of eligibility left if he redshirts.

Seems like if he wants to transfer he should do it now and go learn his next offense.

hypothetical. If Thompson does transfer out this fall, do we lose Whop since those two were kind of a connection coming from the same high school. I'm not even saying Thompson would transfer, but its a high possibility if Stevens starts. At this point, he knows Moorhead is not confident in him bringing someone over him.

I hope he brings his penn st issued abacus, sextant, and slide rule to help figure out this offense.**

Because he will probably know that Schader or Mayden will be the guy next year. I'm guessing he believes he has a chance to play some this year so will stick out another semester. If Schader is as good as Moorhead believes(he is his recruit) I would think there is not a lot of potential to play next year either.

There's nothing incorrect about your statement, but desperate moves like this tend to have ripple effects, and I just have a feeling that we're going to see a few that we don't like in the coming months.

If nothing else, I think we can now say that we're going to find out once and for all this Fall if the offense's woes are the QB or the system

How is it a “desperate move”? All he did was add an grad transfer QB who may or may not start.

There are a certain number of posters on this forum who have made up their minds on Moorhead and nothing will change it. My question is, even if your mind is made up, why sow discord in his first off season? If the same questions are here a year from now, so be it. But going so far out of your way to bash the guy and comment on every topic seems more like spreading an agenda rather than having a concern. It's one step before full-on concern trolling.

Couldn’t agree more. Every fanbase has a crazy portion, unfortunately our crazy portion is also stupid as hell.

Was looking at Twitter and the kid had so many Penn st players tweet at him supporting him. Some of those the former star players. I think this kid is going to be special... we are a couple positions away I think from being really good again next year. Got to get a grad WR now. Maybe a DT too

Yeah we have a core group that would rather see Coach JoMo fail than MSU succeed and you cannot convince them otherwise.

I have often invited them to go their local WalMarts and buy a Bammer shirt and get it over with.

No reason to downvote this post. It’s a fair observation. ****, this may be the first time I’ve thought that about one of the prophylactic’s post but it’s a valid question.

Thank you. I had just kind of thought about it today. If he does transfer, we need to work hard to make whop stays. Thompson had a lot to do with him signing at state. He is supposed to be one of the better receiver talents coming back. Don’t need to loose any receivers right now.

I don't know if Whop will transfer or not. If he is getting a lot of PT I am fairly certain he won't. I know right now we have some of the worst receivers in the SEC and Whop still has not cracked the starting lineup, so I really don't care at this point.

Well, first I’d say that there’s no “may or may not” about it. There will be plenty of coach speak over the next few months about competing, but barring injury or some completely unforeseen circumstance, Stevens will be starting next Fall. He didn’t come here for a chance to compete

Second, are there any other Top 25 programs going out and grabbing their starting QB for the ‘19 season 3 months prior to kickoff? Has any coach in the history of MSU football done that? Pretty sure the answer is no because while it may be the right move, it is a move of desperation. Especially when you consider that none of this has a thing to do with injuries, transfers, etc

I’m not crapping on Moorhead because there’s a lot that I like about him. Some things I like a lot actually, and again, this may be the right move for the team if he believes that Stephens will be a better QB this season than the rest of the guys on his roster. This isn’t a video game, though, and moves like this 3 months before the season tend to have an impact. Some good, some bad. That’s all I’m saying

The thing that would make this work is Stevens already has an intimate knowledge of Moorehead’s offense, having played in it for three years. So he shouldn’t be behind going into fall camp like another QB not familiar with the offense would be, like a Kelly Bryant.

I highly doubt that any player in the history of college football has transferred because his friend transferred. If so, that player is a ***** and should have gone somewhere else to begin with. If Whop leaves, and there's no reason at this point to think he would, it will have nothing to do with KT.

LSU did it last year and it was the difference in them winning 6 games and them winning 9 games at a minimum. I have no idea if Stevens will make that kind of impact but it has happened before at a major program.

Stevens is a positive.

The offense was awful last year and during the spring. If a new qb can make it click, let’s do it.

Did you see the tweets from K. Hill, E. Thompson, and W. Gay?

I’m personally glad he signed, but I hope he wins over the locker room very, very quickly if JoMo promised him the job (as speculated) or it may not go well - at all....
