If that is the rule, the rule sucks. He caught the ball with his hand and pull it in to his gut (catch at that point) before extending it it again to cross the goal line. That is when he lost the grasp.

I feel your pain. I'm a 'Boys fan, this very same call cost us a chance at a SuperBowl.

The NFL has to fix the rule on that one. He made a football move thus it is a reception. End of story. It does not really matter right now and who know what will happen in the next two weeks. WVU was having a great season with two weeks left and all of a sudden is turned around. You never know what is going to happen next.

I would say that you were inferring that Tomlin was big buddies with PSU and sPitt and somehow works to the demise of WVU. Tomlin was a huge Stew supporter because Stew give him his first college job.

Dilly Dilly?

******** on the NFL. I am never watching another **** game in this League ever. This is just ******** to overrule that call.

I think the rule is stupid but by rule it was incomplete. How many of you Steeler fans laughed when the Dez Bryant catch against Green Bay in the playoffs was over ruled? Not so funny now. It’s ridiculous how the NFL makes something as simple as a catch so complicated.

This was my problem with the call. Catch, down to a knee, pivot, and make a football move for the goal line. No idea how that wasn't a td.

Honestly, I thought that rule applied to someone catching the ball and going straight to the ground. He caught the ball went to his knees...pivoted and lunged, which to me is a football move forward. I thought it was a catch and a fumble.

See the Dez Bryant play. He caught it over his right shoulder, switched the ball to his left hand, took two steps and lunged towards the goal line with the ball stretched out in his left hand and the ball moves when he hit the ground and it was over turned. Very similar play here. The rule is ridiculous.

You obviously are clueless. You have to maintain control of the ball through hitting the ground, period. By rule, its incomplete

That was the wrong call too. I’m not biased it’s just what it is.

The NFL is becoming a joke. The Cowboys went over 8 games without a single holding call against the opposition despite our guys getting tackled at times. Officiating is a joke and there are no repercussions for these guys. As much money as the league is bringing in there’s no reason not to have full time officials who aren’t all AARP members. They need to watch tape and go to clinics and be tested during the off season. And be suspended and fired when they miss calls.

I’m not saying I agree with it. But by the “rule” it was the right call.
He had possession when his knee hit which is a catch his second move was into the end zone where he lost possession after scoring but I’m not a ref

Wrong . He completed the catch . Crossed the plane ( which is a TD ) It’s the same as a running back diving and the ball moves after a TD is scored.

I don`t like the call being reversed on the play...I think the Steelers got robbed...But throwing a INT on the next play is down right Seattle in the Super Bowl with Brady winning that game with a freakin gift also....One lucky MF......

After reading that they definitely need to clean that whole rule up. As explained well in that post, that whole rule is ambiguous & can be interpreted many different ways. Bulls*t rule. If a receiver catches the ball & has full possession after making a move it's a completed pass. Period. None of this "completing the act of a catch to the ground" ambiguous fu**ery that they use now.

You have to read the whole rule. You can’t stop when it benefits you. He caught the ball and made a football move , which makes him a runner, Read through your little football for dummies link and you’ll get to it.

It’s really sad when WVU “fans” get more defensive and their panties in a wad over their NFL allegiances than they ever would for WVU.

Catch or no catch, the Steelers lost. The game results will not be overturned and will forever be a loss in the record books.

That’s what is being lost in the discussion. The call took away a TD but Ben forcing that ball over the middle into all that traffic wasn’t very smart. At worst they had a game tying FG and a chance to win in OT. The call didn’t cost them the game.

Right call. Bad rule. Moving on...

Any of you salty Steelers fans want to talk about the two terrible plays run after? They still had a chance to win it or tie.
