State Volleyball team plays #5 UK at 5PM

Decided to give it a shot, close so far, down a few midway through the first set. I don't know much about volleyball, but sport is sport.

State took the first set. If we win this we will be in the top 20 next week. We started the conference season by going 1-1 against Florida, picked to finish second in the league. Then we went 2-0 against LSU, picked to finish third.

Kentucky is the defending national champ and picked to win the league. A 1-4 start would have been good. We have a shot to go 4-1.

To put this in perspective. We have never finished high enough to make the 8 team SEC Tournament. Not when there were 10 teams, 13 teams or 14 teams.

Next years volleyball class in Mississippi is loaded with players who are nationally ranked. Wayne Madkins daughter is at Clinton and is committed to Arkansas. Brian Hazelwood’s daughter is one of the top 20 players in the nation at Madison Central. She can go anywhere she wants. Doubt she ends up at State but who knows.

I don’t think there is an SEC volleyball tournament anymore,, but yes, win or lose this game, they have gotten off to an amazing start considering the schedule.

Almost definitely is. It will be tough to hold on tonight, but if they keep this level of play up through the softer part of the future schedule, they will make the NCAA tourney for sure.

Yep. They have non conference wins over probable NCAA teams Oklahoma and Indiana. Did not play well enough to beat Georgia Tech or Syracuse but those are two good losses. Other loss is Houston in a match we should have won.

They'll make odds for anything. There have been a few betting scandals in tennis in low level tournaments (not even ATP or WTA) based on who wins the 2nd set or something like that.
