I have to wonder if there was any dirt on Drew that Vandy was afraid would get out. I hate to accuse teams of that with no evidence, but this has been a weird coaching search. Seems like they just cut ties with Drew, with no real plan of who they wanted to get as the next coach.

He has shown some coaching skill in the D-League and has been credited with helping several players in the Raptors system.

However, in college he'll have to recruit and that's where he's an untested commodity. This will either be a genius move or end up very badly.

He could do well, he could flop. Vandy has the financial means to make a great hire with a proven coach, assuming they could get someone to come there from a solid program.

Time will tell.

He won the D League Championship and was coach of the year in 2017. It will be interesting to see how he does at Vandy. I think it will depend on his recruiting.
He needs to hire a recruiting director like Edgar's wife in MIB needed a decorator, 'cause....

I just don't agree with hiring a pro coach with 0 college basketball coaching experience to take over a college job. Especially one with the challenges that Vanderbilt faces.

Their insiders and loyal fans believe that kids are going to flow to him like they are Penny at Memphis....only difference is at Vandy you have to actually go to class.

The fact that academics matter at Vanderbilt...I mean really matter makes hiring a North Carolina at Chapel Hill guy with a bogus degree an incredible hire. I have always been a big Vandy fan only behind the Wildcats. I am going to have take a leave of absence of pulling for them as long as Stackhouse is there...very disappointing.

Definitely come out of nowhere. But what does Vandy really have to lose at this point? Went 0 for the SEC this past year. He can't do much worse than Drew. If he does have the chops then they look like geniuses.

No dirt, 0-19.

You bet. We will let in kids that couldn't get in if they weren't star basketball players, but they have to do the work (they'll have study halls, tudors, Etc, so it's doable but not easy).

Tell me about his college coaching experience.

Ok.

Should be interesting, but I'm not willing to say it will be a disaster because he's never coached in college.

He's been playing for 40 years and under some phenomenal coaches. He has coached in the g league and was successful. Can he recruit? What assistants does he hire?

Pretty excited to hear about his plans, staff, recruiting and ultimately coaching.

So Allen Iverson and who else you thinking for assistants? I kid I kid, but he'll obviously copy penny and hire some NBA colleagues
