76 against Phillip O'Berry Academy in 2003.
69 against Concord the same year.
And I believe 73 against Chase before my time.

First off congrats to the SP Raiders! Played an excellent game on offense and after the first quarter played really well on the defensive end as well. That QB of yours was a star tonight.

Now to Dudley. Offensively they played okay. A lot of mistakes that have apparently have been going on all year. High snaps, overthrowing targets, illegal procedures, and just overall carelessness. The weather did affect their offense, but not enough or them to lose like this.
The defense on the other hand was absolutely embarrassing. The complete failure to make any adjustments against the run is one of the most confusing things about this game. The raiders ran the same plays over and over. It's as if the defensive staff was relying on the offense to go score for score with SP. SP put i believe 60 offensive points up on them. They QB had God knows how many yards and not a single adjustment was made.

I noticed this problem with Dudley in the championship game last year and the Hillside game this year. There is no way in hell a team that runs 90+ percent of the time should be moving the ball like this. Even if it didn't rain, I don't see Dudley's defense stopping SP's offense. The defensive staff needs to be evaluated over there. This wasn't even as close as the score indicates.

I love high school football, man.

North Carolina High School Football > College Football >>>>>>>>>> NFL for me.

You just never know what you're going to get sometimes and as a spectator is just amazing.
I agree 100% !!! I got to see Burns hang 42 and put a running clock on Shelby tonight. I no fan of either team I just love me some high school football

NOW THATS WHAT YOU CALL PAYBACK!
GO BIG RED!
I went to the game 78 and I yelled on your behalf and mine. My husband had been sick this week and didn't feel like going and sitting in the rain. Of course, having frozen at last year's debacle, he didn't think SP could make up the 38 point difference. I was hopeful that we had a bit more size and could keep it close, although that 21-6 lead that the Panthers put on us in the 1st quarter had me a bit worried. However, the SP offense was beating the heck out of the Dudley D and then the rain began steady and the DBoyz passing game disappeared for the rest of the first half. They couldn't run on us so they started passing again, completing a handful of passes, with 2 big ones resulting in TDs. #5 Cordell B?? for Dudley was their fastest player IMO and was playing both sides during the 1st half. However, you can imagine my surprise when the score was 55-35 at the end of the 3rd quarter and then ended up with a 74-41 final.

Just got back from the game. That was one of the most inspired Red Raider teams and I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of games since 1970. What a comeback after getting behind 2 scores in the 1st qtr. Then the rain started and so did the Raiders. It was a pure whippin the rest of the way. Dudley didn't even pretend to have a rain game and SP was prepared. Big congrats to the Red Raiders who just earned another home game against Crest. Let's go Big Red!

Next week will be a barn burner. I don’t see either team getting 41 points much less 74. Big South! GO BIG RED!

I hope that we can take another win off of Crest but it will be a real conference dog fight which i love - makes it worth while to come on these boards. The fact that Cleveland, Gaston, and Lincoln Counties currently have the #1 KM, #2 SP, # 5 EL and #8 Crest teams in 3A as 4 of the final 8 teams (and assuming KM takes care of SM tomorrow night ) is phenomenal. The old SW 3A/ Big South Conferences again will determine whether we want it all or give it up to the Eastern team in 2022.

Even looking at 2A, #1 Burns, #3 Maiden (Caldwell), #4 Chase and #5 Shelby (even though they are now out) this year means that we have some very tough football in our area.

I think they were pissed at some of the calls by the refs and decided they wanted to win and show everyone they would not be trounced again. For some unknown reason, it took biot 3- 5 minutes for the refs to make their calls on the yellow flags thrown.

Between the refs and the chain gang, that was one of the worst group of goobers I’ve ever seen. Refs missed calls all night both ways. The chain gang didn’t know their butts from their elbows. But I really liked the way the game ended.

Especially when the chain gang was setting up for SP at the D46 - 1st down and they seemed to think that Dudley still had the ball!!!
Where were you sitting during the game. I was on the first row at the 50 yd line with #60's mom

I was in my recliner watching the live stream. Best seat in the house. I wish I could have been there. Health problems have really slowed me down this year. I do plan on going to the SP vs. Crust game next week, one way or another. They might have to carry me out but I’m going if I can.

Duh I knew that. I guess I was thinking of RedRaider73. Be sure to wear plenty of warm clothes since it is supposed to be really cold next week.

Are you going to come down for the game? Oh and did you find a ride home tonight?
No, ny hubby won't bring me down for the Crest game, but he did come and pick my dripping body up after the game. Most of the Dudley fans had departed by that time so it wasn't a big deal to pick me up.

Yep - got 19 points in the 4th quarter. Even though we intercepted Dudley on their first play for a pick 6, they scared the devil out of us by going up 21-6 with 5 min left in the 1st qtr but we took care of that.

1st - SP 13 - D 21 (13-21)
2nd = SP 34 - D 29 (21-8)
3rd - SP 55 - D 35 (21-6)
4th - SP 74 - D 41 (19-6)

I have rarely missed a SP playoff game and already had a room booked in GBO for Friday night. I was disappointed in it being moved to Thursday instead of Saturday, but after the results, I would not change a thing. Listened on the radio and followed Calvin's twitter feed. Great job by the Raiders and look forward to having the Chargers in town next Friday night.

Dudley made the mistake of thinking SP was scared due to last years outcome. You can pull from the entire county, get special treatment and get every slanted call by the refs….but we ain’t scared to show up for the fight. That scenario ain’t the first time we saw it this year, and probably won’t be the last.
I do respect the kids effort and skill though.
