Rutgers performed well on Saturday against the best team in the country and on the road. I don't think that Caleb played,but know that no one was rested.It was a real game against a team that would win the Big Ten. Rutgers played good Rutgers D.
As to Dylan he does have 2 very influential parents and the one who didn't play in the NBA is especially influential here and really likes Steve. I continue to say that it is Rutgers or Duke and there are obvious reasons to go to both. It will not be an NIL focused decision. That is a certainty. My hunch is Rutgers. I was certain about Cliff. Obviously,not certain here but there is a larger issue and message.Rutgers has never had a 14 month period in history in which so many have visited and expressed legitimate interest in actually attending.

Hearing that we played well, especially on D against an elite and very athletic UNC on the road, is very encouraging... even more so if the reigning B1G DPOY didn't play

I'd rather they be cautious with him now as we have almost 2 weeks before the season starts so let him heal didn't sound very serious according to Pikell

If Caleb had a long-term injury, I would think we would've heard by now. It's been a week since we heard he "tweaked" his knee and was going to get it checked out.

We're going to get an answer for sure this Sunday against Fairfield.

I didn’t realize we had only 3 games before Temple and they are all 95%ers. Not that we (and all kinds of teams like us) haven’t had close 95%ers.

Let's just see how this plays out. I hope you are right. Records show Ron Harper made a lot of $ during his NBA career. If Dylan can make $8,000,000 over 4 years at some school it would have to be a factor. What if the number was double that?

It goes both ways....last year when things were going bad I was posting that the sky wasn't falling. The year before that the same. We had 2 separate Fire Pike movements, months apart, in a year we officially made our 1st NCAA tournament. I was very positive at the time, at least as much as one could be.

here is the thing

we might miss out on a 4 star recruit, then land a high 3 star, or, another near comparable 4 star player.....and that is ok....we
go on

however, every once in a very great while, there is a game changer that we might have an in for

back in 1999, I think it was, we were about to get Jason Williams, who, as long time fans know, wanted to come here, and was stolen late

He would have been a game changer for us

there have been a few near misses we have had along the way, but not on that level

Dylan should be that game changer.....if we do not get him, I would put it in the same category as our 1999 miss

we have a shot here..... Williams was a painful miss...Dylan would be also.

Money always matters. Dylan is presumably not as desperate as some kids. Not as important to him as most, but money always matters. We don't know how flush his family is currently. There are degrees of rich. And we don't know what kind of NIL money is on the table. It might not be enough to matter to him. But everyone has their number.

The Jwill comparison was very good …but there was one difference

Dylan , right now , as a junior , is a completely known national commodity

JWill wasn’t as well known . That was the era of the big Summer camps being run by the sneaker companies ….

Jwill went to one (think the ABCD camp) and blew up . I remember getting eastern basketball (remember that one ???) and see his name go from being a lower top 100 kids to a top five national recruit and very much hit the top of the radar of coach K radar from the camp

point is, Jwill today would not have been under the radar like 1999 , and maybe , would not have had RU so high had his ability been more nationally known

Dylan is a national known recruit …he is not under anyone radar like Jwill was untik late in the game .

He is the national recruit in every sense of the world , and if we get him (unlike Jwill ) it won’t be because he is under the radar

You might be right about JW not quite as well known, but he was known enough to be wanted by Duke, other majors probably came around to recruiting him at least late in the game

I am sure you are well aware of all this, but for the more recent fans
The comparisons include:

Both the equivalent of 5 star players

Both lived in NJ

Both really liking the RU head coach and
and extremely familiar with the program

Both with RU with the inside track at some point, in fact, well known that JW
really wanted to come close to the end

A similar example is Joakim Noah. Waters was on him early - then he went to a camp - and his recruiting blew up.

Speaking of Gary Waters….as I remember the story I read somewhere…. at Cleveland State he
was in on Anthony Davis early and tight… but then AD grew something like 6-10 inches between junior and senior year and a big man with that skill set suddenly had lots more suitors.

Wow hadn't heard that. The phrase better lucky than good with timing comes to mind. Steph Curry grew a few inches the summer before he showed up at Davidson - so too late for any late arriving bigger programs to flip him.

These seem to be cases of early interest by a player, who blows up later and then goes bigger time
A common tale that we see often with football recruits also

JW and I think Dylan are a different story

JW cried telling Bannon he was not coming, he felt so bad

I am thinking Dylan would have a bit of that problem, and guilt, going elsewhere after all his contact and fondness of our coach, coupled with the mom loving our coach and program

maybe I assume too much in regards to Dylan since he is going to work the visits
to other programs
