Jason Williams and the other comparisons from 20 years ago don’t work.
Any one particular recruit isn’t as impactful anymore - because they leave after 1 year.

Jason Williams was National FPOY and then stayed for 2 more years.

From the moment Dylan gives a commitment - HC Pike will already be recruiting for the following year to replace him.
If Dylan is as good as everyone expects and leads a deep NCAA run - theeven more like he leaves immediately.

As I said earlier, yes getting Dylan would be great.
But missing out isn’t the end of the world.

How many mocked and questioned just how useful McGowens was for Nebraska?
5-star recruit who was on campus for 5 months before leaving.
Not saying we’d be as bad as Nebraska but pointing out getting an elite recruit for a couple months isn’t an instant championship.

Respectfully disagree

Best guess is two years here

We would be very very good those years
That should make our recruiting get even better as he plays and as he exits

Money always matters. Dylan is presumably not as desperate as some kids. Not as important to him as most, but money always matters. We don't know how flush his family is currently. There are degrees of rich. And we don't know what kind of NIL money is on the table. It might not be enough to matter to him. But everyone has their number.
Tons of professional athletes don’t need the money but fight for the best contract within the confines they set.

A 5 star joining the worse program in the conference for a year is completely irrelevant to Rutgers. We aren't a bottom feeder.

Dylan, even if only for a year or two, greatly increases our odds of a tournament run. Stop pretending like it doesn't matter. It does

There is also the positive impact on recruiting for players who may want to play with Dylan and future recruiting if he becomes a lottery pick
This.

Let's say Cliff works his way, at best, to be a lottery pick, but either way he is probably gone after this year.

It's called a pipeline for a reason: kids see this and want to be part of it, NIL or not; NIL just makes it easier for the Have's vs the Have Not's....

We have Gavin....and we if we get Dylan...the pipeline becomes better....

And put an end to the negative recruiting talking point other programs could use against us of "you can't go to Rutgers if you want to get drafted. They don't put anyone in the league"

It's just true. We are fans. We'd all like to think that these kids are as passionate about our school as we are. RU has a lot to offer. Money isn't the only thing. For example, people trust Pike. Mom feels good about sending her kids to Pike and RU. That's all good and important. But money matters too.

There have been reports that NIL won't be the deciding factor for Dylan. One of the perks of an NBA dad
That’s pure speculation and rumor with no factual basis. Better to say we hope that’s the case because our NIL can currently offer two nickels to rub together.

This same thing has been reported multiple places and an insider here just posted it again in the misconceptions thread.

If you don't want to believe it than don't. Your call. It's not just some made up wish though
