I guess we'll have to go back to sweating out 33-yard field goals again

Just when I finally starting having confidence we would make a less than 40 yard field goal most of the time, we're right back to square one next year. It's crazy that we have two punters on scholarship (Bell and Cooke) and no kickers on scholarship. That seems backwards to me.

Only one chance to play SEC football. Tooth decay will always be around. Oh well, back to the drawing board on finding a decent FG kicker I guess.

Cooke is a punter, kickoff specialist, and a very capable field goal kicker. Everyone is basing their opinion of his FG ability off of one bad kick against Kentucky. He's got a huge upside, give it time.

What about the SHS Kicker ?

Is he planning on playing at State ? Saw him play this season and that guy can kick at the next level.

really criticizing this kid's decision to go to dental school?

Look, I'm not criticizing anything, its his decision. Just pointing out that he has this one opportunity in life to play SEC football. He can be a dentist for the rest of his life. But I can understand him not wanting to wait if he really already has all of his undergraduate requirements fully complete.

In the good news dept. Sobes said the 2 hardest people to tell were his dad and Dak. Which must mean Dak is coming back

Good luck to him.

Any negative response is ridiculous. These guys put in more than enough of their time for the university. I can't imagine having to deal with the grueling schedule of college football to just be a kicker.

+1. If you're going to endure the equivalent of a root canal, may as well get paid for it.

I've got a negative response for him. He'll have kicking nightmares when Michael Strahan comes in for a dental exam.

Not to mention he was a walk on. He's been out there purely for the love of the game.

The kid has

already done that. He wants to move on with his life, obviously. Who are we to question that? Maybe he'd rather be a dentist than a kicker.

Quit being so sensitive on this. I can question whatever I feel like questioning, its a dang MSU sports message board for pete's sake and it WILL hurt to not have him next year. Could even cost us a close game or two. He was only going to be a JR next year in eligibility. I wish him the best though as he moves on.

How in

the world am I being sensitive? I'm not the one questioning a strangers decision to better himself. I couldn't care less what he does, but if Sobes wants to leave then that's his prerogative. He doesn't owe you, me, or MSU a damn thing. Get real.

I'm with you. Jobs suck. College doesn't suck.
