Needs to be a tight end from what I saw. I mean, assuming he can learn to catch better than he's learned to throw.HH might stick around and either be the archetype developmental QB that only really ever spells the starter during his career, or across a position change while here since the coaches love his athleticism so much.
Morton and Martin had some moments though vs other guys we pencil in. NPG is a high possiblity unless of course like many wonder about smothers (content on riding the scholarship here even though they'll never start).Javier Morton, Jalil Martin, Pola-gates. Lots of secondary players IMO that could go, just too many guys and they brought more in over the winter. Similar to the WR position: Shawn Hardy, Victor Jones possibly. Smothers, Purdy.
Yea there is going to be some guys leaving that might be decent. We just had a big recruiting class and there’s just too many guys at a few spots, so some have to go and it won’t be the guys that just got here.Morton and Martin had some moments though vs other guys we pencil in. I like HH athletic ability, but we would have to succeed at calling runs nearly every play for him to work out. He showed very poor awareness and ability dropping back as a passer, and throwing the ball. He had -1 yards passing. Not to say he can’t improve or he just had a bad game but there was not much positive gleaned from that game. Purdy at least knew when and where to run dropping back. Purdy also threw it better and Torres threw it better.I liked HH more than Purdy or Torres
He had some balls batted down and also took a bad sack but he could be nasty in QB run game and we never really got to see him throw. No idea who was blocking for him or who was playing WR but when he ran that triple option it was nice looking run
I bet we lose 2-3 QBs
We could lose some WRs also and probably a RB
We’ve seen HH throw. The sacks, balls delivered low and late throws aren’t a great sign. I think it will sort itself out this weekI liked HH more than Purdy or Torres

Smothers loves NU. He’s athletic enough to play WR or DB. I think he’s another guy who might want to get in to coaching.Torres, Poala-gates, kpai, smothers (he must have a serious girlfriend here because this dude won’t leave), purdy, probably 1 running back.
I know that will be the action followed but I still find it strange that in the era of all this NIL why the 85 scholarship limit still exists. You could just provide equal benefits (and more) to non-scholarship players with NIL. The roster limit could/would be just how many players the coaches want and can handle on a team.Have to get from 98 to 85. Which 13 will be moving on?
he may just be a GA moving forwardSmothers loves NU. He’s athletic enough to play WR or DB. I think he’s another guy who might want to get in to coaching.
That's a good point. All the talk about HH, I wonder if Smothers has tried to play DB or WR at all.Smothers loves NU. He’s athletic enough to play WR or DB. I think he’s another guy who might want to get in to coaching.
Pretty close. My own eyeballs see 2 CBs, 3 safeties, 1-2 edge, maybe 1 TE, 2 WR, 1-2 RB, 2 QB, 2 LBI don’t think we should list names but you could do it by position groups. The number leaving probably close to below.
QB-2
RB-1-2
WR-3-4
TE-0 Position moves already in place
OL- 0
DL-0
Edge-1
LB-2-3
DB-4-5
I feel like one or both Smothers or Purdy are fated to go. HH might stick around and either be the archetype developmental QB that only really ever spells the starter during his career, or across a position change while here since the coaches love his athleticism so much.
Probably at least one back will go as well as maybe a receiver or two. Don't see any linemen or tes leaving.
Hard to tell on defense... It seems we'll be playing lots of dudes at depth often, so why would any leave? Though it wouldn't surprise me to see an older guy or two leave who might feel passed over whether due to their performance in the past or injury (Henrich comes to mind).
Not Ajay Allen. Unless he has serious injury issues. He was terrific last year as a freshman.None of these below would surprise me
- Clark
- Morton
- J. Martin
- Pola-Gates
- Farmer
- Hill
- Lynum
- K. Williams
- Kpai
- Malcolm
- Purdy
- Torres
- Smothers
- A. Allen
- Androff
- Hardy
- V. Jones
I don't see that eitherNot Ajay Allen. Unless he has serious injury issues. He was terrific last year as a freshman.

He is RB 4 at this time. Why would you be surprised? Not Ajay Allen. Unless he has serious injury issues. He was terrific last year as a freshman.
And Frost stupidly gave him a lot of options and a big head. He got the nod over Ervin last year, and once you get a taste of success, especially early on, it's difficult to just bottle that up and ride the bench.I agree, but not everyone that goes will be the ones we want to go. I hope we can keep Allen, but he might not like being behind Ervin and Grant, at the moment. He's a kid with a lot of options.
Good list. I think we'll be surprised by some who choose to stay (if allowed) and some who will opt to go. There may be a couple who are in mix as a starter or in the two-deep that decide they want a change of scenery.None of these below would surprise me

And yet ... here you areGrown men being this obsessive and confident talking about 20 year old kids playing football is so hilarious and sad to read all at once
Some kids will leave, others will take the no-play scholarship support and finish their degree.Torres, Poala-gates, kpai, smothers (he must have a serious girlfriend here because this dude won’t leave), purdy, probably 1 running back.
Says the guy on a message board designed to discuss 20 year old kids playing football. Do you get on message boards that discuss politics and wonder outloud why are they talking about politics?Grown men being this obsessive and confident talking about 20 year old kids playing football is so hilarious and sad to read all at once
There was a rumor that he was possibly going to hit the portal. I wouldn’t assume that someone who looked ok last year wouldn’t leave this year. Hope he stays but who knows. Not Ajay Allen. Unless he has serious injury issues. He was terrific last year as a freshman.
Reading the tea leaves, it appears that Allen may not have taken to the new coaches. Looks like he's #4 on the depth chart, but obviously has talent. Definite portal candidate. What is odd is that Rahmir does nothing but produce when he's on the field yet always seems to be at best the third option.I agree, but not everyone that goes will be the ones we want to go. I hope we can keep Allen, but he might not like being behind Ervin and Grant, at the moment. He's a kid with a lot of options.
He may enter the portal, but most of the talk was because he was in a green jersey, then a yellow jersey. People were speculating that he was in those jerseys because he chose to be because he was entering the portal. There was a rumor that he was possibly going to hit the portal. I wouldn’t assume that someone who looked ok last year wouldn’t leave this year. Hope he stays but who knows.
Also hope Torres stays. Don’t know his ceiling but he’s young. Purdy and Smothers already have a ceiling that we have seen. Haarberg looked so so. I know he’s young too but a year older than Torres.
