It seems like a weird policy to not do the thing that would solve the problem.
Or at least make it read only for non-paying members. As it is, out of sight out of mind could unintentionally and permanently put an end to things as we knew it.

Sounds like the problem child had a VPN as well so banning the IP wouldn't have worked.
My only concern with this whole migration is whether Brian is going to post 50 late-night threads asking questions like 'have you ever had a toenail fungus?"
Escape goat is one of my all time favorites.
He said the 2 choices were to completely nuke the board or make it pay for site. So they went with a pay for site.
The moral of the story for all is, going forward, perhaps best not to jump into the name-calling, uh-uh/yuh-huh dynamics and instead to simply not take the troll bait.
Or at least, use the "yes and" principle of improvisational comedy, and accept a ridiculous point but build on it in a comedic way that illustrates its ridiculousness.

The thread on HORT that mentions the move to this board needs nuked before Ryan and HWT ruin this landing spot.
Now it sounds like these individuals just constantly were griping with the mods and their focus was as much on harassing them as it was the board. I mean if you are going to make an AI video of a mod and make comments about his wife you got issues.
Wish they would have gone to posting pictures of their hands and going to meet at a bar for fight night. LOL
Not to mention he easily had 30+ handles ready to go. All w/ the same creation date. When you have someone with the combination of mental issues and too much free time, it usually doesn't end well.
Indeed, "don't be a whiner" is pretty sound advice as well.

Our old site was Hawkeye Report and Off Topic board is where we went. Somehow got shorthand to HORT mixed up the letters a bit.

Our old board effectively had zero moderation. Its effectively how we got to this point. Finally one day they are like I've had enough . . . curtains.

We've had several left of center posters banned over the years (I'm not going to say they didn't earn it) and we have a lot of rule breaking comments from the right wing trolls. I'll confess that I take an exceptionally dim view on sexism and homophobia.
