We got outrebounded by a weak rebounding team.
we got hot from 3 and Indiana went to the floor with one punch.
the possession before the Geo 3 that started the run Ron drove to the lane and had a simple jump stop and a bounce pass for a Myles dunk. Instead he ran right through the stop sign and committed a turnover. We were playing like garbage and then shots started to fall.
Great job Geo and harper.
We had a lot of problems beating the Bonnies back in the daywe went on a devestating 57-22 run which may be our biggest ever against a legit opponent not named Keene State or St Bonaventure
idk I’m really not convinced that’s all it is
Starting with Syracuse and including Iowa because Caleb only played 11 minutes he's played 20 in all but Penn state after:
Harper 41/50 (51%) from the floor before Caleb and 46/130 (35%) after Caleb joined the rotation... More specifically 27/78 (34%) after the lineup change
Young 33/67 (49%) before Caleb and 63/138 (45%) after and 37/82 (45%) after lineup change
Mathis 32/72 (44%) before Caleb and 20/70 (28%) and 12/39 (31%) after the lineup change
I must have been watching a different game the first 11 or so minutes. The effort was not what it needed to be and that was clearly impacting the attitude.I mean I hear everything about the ball going in, but the effort and attitude was noticeably improved even before the ball starting falling in
Both had great games as well but imo their great play had alot to do with the lineup combos and allowing JY to run with the right guys, speed them up and get them transition jumpers, transition buckets, and wide open looks on dribble drives. I think 3 of geos 3’s were assists on JY’s dribble drivesNo love for Geo or Harper?
But has to be by design.. To be allowed and even encouraged by the coach. Prior to game, many here said stop shooting threes.. Pound it inside. I think we saw the solution was the opposite of that... And that would be true wheter the ball went in or not. That is.. this style we saw is where we are our best.. And if you do not take the threes you have no chance at all to make em. And if you wait until you NEED threes, that adds pressure and you are not taking them in the same way they were taken in this game.I was happy to see the transition game return. We finally started to finish. Note that we made 3s but only a few were in halfcourt sets. We made them in transition kick outs. That was the case early on too. To get those opportunities, you have to execute in transition which we hadn’t done well at all until today for a long time. Finally finishing again!
I think Sojo's take is way way off.Interesting stats but during the 4 game losing streak we had in January Young played more minutes than McConnell each game....and then during the 5 game winning streak that followed McConnell played more minutes than Young in 4/5 of this games.
So that pretty much debunks your theory.
Our team is inconsistent and streaky. It’s more about playing the guys that are hot or are playing well together.
You guys sound like a broken record with this weird stuff. Unless I missed it, Young wasn’t physically dropping in Harper and Bakers 3’s.
This... missing shots is a slippery slope. You miss, you get down, you miss more because you're down, then you sink even further, get really out of sync and then it's a wrap.Shortened the bench, found the right rotation and stuck with it. Plus shots started falling and confidence soared.
What the heck was that guy watching?Rutgers is at its best when they play with a chip on their shoulder. It's things like a post from an IU site that should provide fuel to the tank.
I must have been watching a different game the first 11 or so minutes. The effort was not what it needed to be and that was clearly impacting the attitude.
It also didn't hurt that Geo and Ron FINALLY hit their shots they're capable of.Caleb played his least amount of minutes in 6 weeks.
Young played his most minutes in 6 weeks.
The fix was staring us in the face all along
