Then focus on the demand problem instead of just limiting supply
Boomer has swerved into the truth here in terms of the beginnings of a solution to comprehensive immigration reform. Employers who knowingly hire illegals should be punished severely for doing so and we should improve and enhance the electronic verification system they should be required to use before offering employment to anyone who is not here legally.
This is an excellent point if we are ever going to get a handle on what is attracting these folks and causing them to risk their lives to come to this country without the proper legal documentation or certifications.
Things like e-verify, background checks, merit-based evaluations of political Asylum seekers as well as strict limits on the numbers we take in and the prospects of their functioning in our society without help from taxpayers should also be primary components of whatever comprehensive immigration reform is passed into law.
The fact of the matter is we need more qualified legal immigration into this country to both improve our culture which historically is based on immigrants as well as achieving the numbers of qualified people to fill the growing amount of highly skilled jobs our expanding economy continues to produce.
It never gets mentioned in the debate but Americans are not opposed to Legal immigrants coming here and assimilating into this country and helping us maintain our high standards of living as well as preserving our unique American culture. Anyone who is willing to participate and go through the proper legal channels to come here and celebrate what is great about America instead of criticizing it has been and always is welcome.
However if illegals insist on coming here illegally or breaking our laws or bringing crime or running drugs or tearing down the culture, then the best they can hope for once they get past our great big beautiful wall is to be quickly picked up and deported back to whatever Hell hole they came from.
