I do believe now that UK got trolled big time.

If by "trolled" you mean he decided to go play multiple years for school without 1/10th of the storied history, coaching, national exposure, or tv airtime, in order to have no shot at a National Championship, then yeah I guess we got "trolled." Oooh, he really showed us. o_O

lol it's one of those things I never understood.

If he comes, that's great if not that's fine too.

Cal's recruiting record speaks for itself.

I'm not concerned about this stuff anymore. We'll have a team full of good players regardless lol

Yeah we have to understand that we weren’t going to get every single guy that we pursued. Sometimes it’s just a plan to get the one you really want. Cal does that well.

I've never understood the anger towards late decisions.

Most high schools aren't finished up yet. No one reports to campus until June. We've had several guys report even later than that because of their school calendar. There's no difference in announcing on May 1 and June 1. It's not like we've played two games without him or something.

In protest , Im going to let my wife out of the basement dungeon until Jaden makes a decision. And if she gets out and drives again... that carnage is on you Jaden... lives are in your hands so make a decision please.

I would love to have McDaniels but I truly don’t think he is critical unless Richards or EJ don’t come back. He’s a want not a need.
I don’t think he is essential if Richards does anything McDaniels will see some time at the 4 but zero time at the 5 he will spend time at the 3

Agreed! Didn’t we just find out he was even a viable option for us? I mean even if blackshear stays in the draft could still have a beast like Dante reclass

Two more crystal ball picks this evening after Slater picking Washington. The tide has definitely turned toward Washington.

Don’t be obtuse almost nobody pulls this crap

What crap? Your arbitrary deadline? The longer it goes, the better it is for us. ED said if it happened soon it would probably be UW. Is finding out today, yesterday, a week from now, a month from now going to alter your life in any way? Some of you guys are beyond ridiculous.

Look, he's obviously a very talented young basketball player. There is enough information out there that suggests he might not be suited for the UK bubble or massive spotlight. If he comes, great. He shouldn't be expected to be the most ready of the freshmen by any means. The expectations could swallow this one up. If he doesn't pick UK, UK is still a F4 contender next season. Period.

His moment? More like his century
So a kid who is reputed to be quiet and shy doesn’t say anything while handlers and recruiting gurus speculate and the kid is jerking us around? He has to live in a stare and finish out the last few days of hs without being bashed by the citizens of his own state. Or he could simply be waiting to hear what EJ does. This doesn’t compare to Bolden and others who milked his recruitment to increase his ranking. McDaniels is already predicted as a top five draft choice by the nba with the potential to be the number one pick. He doesn’t have to do that

If he is camera shy or shy in general then he better lay low when or if he gets to the NBA. And that’s all I’ve got to say about that lol. But for real he will pick a school when he is ready.

I'd guess Slater is getting info from Isaiah Stewart. Doesn't mean it's a done deal...but Slater loves to throw his cocky "I'm no recruiting expert......" when he's sure where someone is going/it's done. Did so for Memphis commit, Hampton to China, and McDaniels all yesterday. So he's feeling like he has some very accurate info.

Maybe he is going to Washington just don’t understand the delay if it’s UW

Considering Jaden's reluctance to embrace the spotlight that comes with being a star recruit, one might wonder if a Kentucky program where players' every move are analysed at length might be the best choice for him.

100% this. I think Cal should step in and save him the trouble. And save us a future headache. Go hard after Blackshear and EJ.

Could be that Stewart told Slater "We got him" in a text or Slater reached out. Maybe he knows something--he usually doesn't go full smug "I'm not recruiting expert BUT..." unless he knows, but with UK he has a habit of trolling and being off. The Aidan Igiehon "Crystal Ball" out of nowhere when UK had other priorities, the CJ Walker CB pick when UK was out of running, etc....so hope for UK/BBN's sake he's just going off Stewart.

Corey Evans has stayed steady. When momentum was UK..he stuck with too close to call, momentum with UW--he's saying the same. We'll see how it ends up. IF I were a betting man and I'm not (see a generic fan can do this crap too, lol)--I'd say we've got an old fashioned battle of Nike vs Adidas (UW is switching to Adidas for '20) and all I do know is that Nike is fully behind UK in this recruitment for more then obvious reason- primarily out of Phil Knight's hatred of UW. The level of hate between Oregon/Washington is top 5 in country. Pure hatred.

The fact that Washington has all this momentum and Evans, like you said was pro-Washington all along, is now saying it's a toss-up, makes me think there's still a chance.

I could be totally wrong.. But this feels like a kid who knows he should go to Kentucky.. But he's scared and is probably better suited to stay home with friends and family. While I can say "damn dude, it's only 6 months!".. The same works for staying home just for 6 months: not a big deal and no one is upset.

This is a comfort-zone thing, imo.

I keep hearing this but all the mock 2020 drafts I’ve seen do not have McDaniels top 5 much less going #1?

I know it was mentioned a year or so ago that he couldn’t possibly be #1 in an article of sorts ?

Your common sense/logic is spot on but it's far more likely that it's a battle that has nothing to do with the young man and he has little say in where he'll end up. Recruiting is "interesting" in majority of cases when it comes to trying to secure elite talent.

So what does he do next year when a team like the Chicago Bulls draft him with the 6th pick (for example) and expect him to help revitalize their team in one of the bigger markets in the world?

He needs to get used to the spotlight. Playing at UK with three or four other future NBA players who can shield him a bit is precisely the move to make.

So many people are more concerned with maintaining control. Malik Newman was swayed to go to Mississippi State because his father felt he could develop him/his game better then any coaching staff. How did that turn out? Ended up at Kansas and they got him the attention Dad prevented. He's still searching for a place in NBA, but wasting time in Starkville didn't help at all. Nobody has to go to a high profile blueblood program, but always funny to see fans in different sports wonder why guys would want to "leave home" when their more successful and higher profile FB program lures kids from out of state because their success.

As a neutral fan, I just shake my head at players/their camps who pass up chance to play for Kentucky, seeing how they have succeeded at getting players to the NBA and beyond that 1st Contract. Max Contract U or "Stay Home and Hope it Works"?? Seems simple but as we've discussed, so much more at stake then where the player should go and spend his season in college.

He’s too much of a bean pole to play in the SEC and he and his handlers know it.

SEC is a big boy conference, stay on the West Coast where you can finesse for a year and bulk up.

Baby.

If he 100% wants to go to Washington, absolutely nothing stopped him from signing his LOI there this week.

He absolutely HAS to be waiting out to see what Montgomery/Blackshear do.

If EJ returns and/or we end up with Blackshear, he likely chooses Washington.

If EJ and/or Blackshear are not at UK next year, McDaniels chooses Kentucky.

Only way this waiting game makes sense.

Either way Kentucky is fine and we would beat the **** out of Washington anyway.

For some reason Brooks reminds me of Wenyen G. They have similar builds and their movements look a lot alike.
