I'm confident he will play. Nothing negative has come out in a while and season starts in about a month. Exhibition in just a few weeks.

Interesting group of no votes, not casting any negatives on UK fans that have this opinion.

Slugger is a goof I have on ignore. I think he is a football only fan and hates Cal.

I have to admit that I'm surprised there are UK football only fans out there. I'm 26 and have been watching UK football and basketball for 19 years, I prefer basketball but again like both, but everyone I have met in person are either fans of both sports or just basketball for obvious reasons. It wasn't until I came on cats illustrated that I discoverd there are people that just watch the football team despite our state's heavy baseketball culture.

This s not a story, why are we making it a story! Dozens and dozens of kids haven't been cleared yet, this is not unusual
From what I understand, Skal can't participate at Midnight Madness or any other games if he isn't cleared yet and that makes it a story in itself if that happens. No one knows what is happening behind the scenes, so we just have to wait and see.

Yeah, you see a lot of them on the football board. If someone says "Go back to Raftards" they are probably one lol. That is your first dead giveaway. The funny thing is the ones that only like football are not even the best football posters on Lair. They are not even superior experts/posters in their one sport of choice they care about.

I am intelligent enough to watch both, and keep up with the women's b-ball team, baseball, softball, etc. I think a lot of it has to do with intelligence levels...the basketball only or football only fans are the less intelligent UK fans that are incapable of keeping up with/appreciating multiple sports. They are similar in that regard, but different in that the b-ball only fans just act like football does not exist, while the f-ball only fans obsess over basketball and gush hatred for UK b-ball whenever it is mentioned.

Yeah I see what you mean. A lot of the football only fans don't like the basketball team because they get all the attention but basketball is a large part of the Kentuckian culture and I like it that way. However I enjoy the football team and watch the baseball team when they play on television as well.

Hope our people hasn't waited till practice starts to start thinking about this. It's only been several months now to dig into. NCAA should be able to make a quick decision on a minor case like this with all of their major cases to have to deal with.

Guy has 2,500 followers. I'm sure he's a Humphries fan. Maybe he's hoping Skal can't play.

The NCAA is corrupt and cares nothing about the student athlete. They act like they have high standards, but in truth they have their own agenda. They are all about controlling the game, and throwing their weight around. Cal has criticized them, so they will try to find a way to hurt him, try to keep him in check. I would not be surprised if Labissiere is ruled ineligible.

My hope is that the NCAA collapses soon. Would love to see it dissolve.

I just can't see a way he doesn't play at all. I mean, a punishment and missing a few games? Maybe even on the high end, like prior players (9 games or whatever). A whole season? There would just have to be a blatant eligibility issue. I mean, Cliff Alexander was eligible...

To me this isn't something I will think about again until Nov. 13 and Nov. 20. Until then not really a concern. This is a hit generator for trolling bloggers. We need highly paid blogger, Jeff Goodman, to take this to the next level.

technically he doesn't have to be cleared .... he'd have to be ruled Ineligible. I mean we can play him if we want from game one but we'd risk forfeiting those games if he's later ruled ineligible.

Most on here and around the Kentucky Program all think Skal Labissiere will play this year including Gerald Hamilton and has said that he wouldn't miss a game. Does anyone on here think that we will here more from Coach Cal on this? I know a few months ago Coach Cal seemed to think there would be no problems and would be able to play Labissiere from day 1. Gerald Hamilton even made a statement saying they he thought he would play first game. I just don't understand if there is more to it why we haven't heard more about it just like we did with Kanter when they said he was given more than $33,000 in excess over the limit. We all heard about that during August and September that it wasn't looking good for Kanter. Will we hear more about this soon?

Just because UK and Cal think he will be eligible still doesn't calm my nerves. The NCAA is the one that decides and we all have seen how consistent they are with things.

NCAA better have proof of wrong doing. If they rule him ineligible for his handler requesting money UK will sue them. They set the precedents with cam newton's dad. Nothing to see here.

Jay Williams basically said the same thing I heard last year about Skal. That his guardian was shopping Skal around to switch high schools. I can't fathom that would make you permanently ineligible...... Ryan Boatright accepted a new car and only had to sit out like 15 games.

Hopefully we will all be worried for nothing. But I have to still get a refill on my blood pressure pills...lol

Because some nba exec knows better... I can't see why Skal would be ruled ineligible.

Though wouldn't past the NCAA to screw us.

I hope he doesn't miss any games either. Isn't Duke our second game? Alex is already going to be less than 100%, and if we are missing Skal, it will be very tough game to win.

Then Skal had nothing to do with it.

Don't know if it's true or not, maybe it will end up being so, BUT I do know that any report by an "online" reporter whose name I've never heard of based upon an alleged anonymous source who won't give up his actual name is one I don't put much stock in.

I've seen WAY too many stories that looked like this turn out to be nothing more than some wannabe's gossipy ******** to get worked up over this. All these jokers wanna pretend like they're the one with the inside scoop.

Not sure what you mean. Yes, he does have to be cleared by the NCAA Eligibility Center. Until he is cleared, he is not eligible to play and any games would be automatically forfeited. I think you are mistaken in thinking that clearance to play D-1 is automatic. It isn't.

I have always wondered if the late addition of Humphries might have been sparked by the fear of Skal being ineligible...one would think Calipari would have learned his lesson with Kanter, this is a make or break the season type impact player, don't care what anyone says

They have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Starting to look like Kanter part deux !

Based on what? Collegespun? These two situations are nothing alike. The NCAA is trying to find out who payed for Skal to go to HS which is ridiculous in it's own right.

No, based on delays and sports talking heads, who are familiar with past similar cases. Skal's guardian did him NO favors last year !!

FWIW, I think most of us being honest with ourselves realize this much is probably true, Skal's "guardian" appears to be a greedy douchebag who's been shopping him to HS and AAU programs to enrich himself ever since he came into contact with the kid.

But, goddam, even if that's true, punish the guardian, NOT the kid. It ain't really skal's fault that this "guardian" is a greedy opportunist. Don't blame him, or UK we weren't the ones making the illegal payments. Punish the guilty parties, not the kid, not us.

Drives me nuts that guys like Skal's guardian can't just wait a little while. OK, we get that your goal is to cash in off the kid, but good lord, he's obviously a one and done NBA lottery guy, just wait a little bit and you'll get all the cash you're hoping for. Quit jumping the gun and ruining the kid's plans by trying turn him into money too early.

Jay Williams made a good point yesterday. What does it matter? How does that have anything to do with whether he should be given college eligibility?
