Tin foil hat moment: Does anyone else think that maybe his injury is at least exaggerated? Maybe it’s Rhule’s way of sidelining Sims without outright publicly stating it? Which in turn has really just created more drama and confusion.

Poor Sims. He has lost this board and we all know how important that is.

Maybe he’s just answering the question honestly. Ankle injuries can be nagging, especially for running QBs.

Personally, I think the backlash against Sims not only on this board, but everywhere else got the coaching staff's attention and influenced the change last week. Not saying they read this board, but the consensus among fans is the same regardless of where you get the pulse at.

I think HH performance, and the continued fan support of him continues to influence things. Have to wait to see what happens this week, but if he trots out Sims this week, there will likely be boo birds and maybe more backlash.

I can see him easing Sims into a game late.. it will be interesting to see how coach Rhule deals with it.

Nah. It isn't that easy.

Rhule is clearly overstating the injury to Sims so he call allow Haarberg to play against arguably the 2 weakest teams on the schedule, only to bring Sims back against Michigan so he can look bad against another ranked team. Then he can then put Haarberg in as the starter against Illinois. Doing all of this with Jeff Sims' knowledge and apparent approval.

For ****'s sake

So, Tuco, what is your real take on the QB situation?

Others more knowledgeable than me can answer this, but I have had only one high ankle sprain, and it was when I was younger. It was a stone cold ***** to get over because I kept tweaking It.

Since there’s a legit chance all 3 QBs will be needed to win games, it’s probably not a good idea risk more injury to one who is still a little gimpy. If I’m Rhule, I’m looking at still playing in December. If Sims’ play in the first two games is not indicative of what he’s shown in practice, then I want a healthy Jeff Sims in October and November.

Clearly, Rhule is masterminding this elaborate plan to make Haarberg the starter. As if he doesn’t have the power to just make Haarberg the starter based on performance.

Sims has played against the two P5 teams and Haarberg played against a MAC team that was coming off a loss to an FCS team.

There are just a lot of assumptions that Haarberg would have played better against Minnesota and Colorado on the road than what Sims did, based on Haarberg’s performance against northern Illinois at home.

Or maybe it’s the truth. Rhule is on record saying when healthy Jeff Sims is QB1.

Thanks. You think there's a chance Rhule thinks there could be fallout from potential portal QB's given the idea he said Sims was the starter and then is yanked after 3-4 games?

A "normal" person or coach wouldn't think replacing a starter with that many turnovers would be much of a question.

I like HH. Hope he succeeds. Sims seems like a stone cold bozo. HH is a good story and seems to play with some grit. If he motivates those around him, I want him to be the QB.

None of that matters because it’s Rhule’s call. And I’ll still watch the game. And cheer on whomever.

No one in the portal is worried about what Sims did at Nebraska or how Rhule handled Sims. Literally every HS QB and every portal QB thinks they are better than what is playing in college football right now. Danny Kaelin is thinking right now, that if he was at Nebraska, he would be starting.

Simms should sit, but Rhule needs to push the right buttons to keep him motivated and engaged, cause we will need him at some point. That’s all I got.

Coaches will manage them both to make it the most informative game for them to review before michigan & the rest of the schedule.
HH showed promise.
Sims was the clear starter to them previously. He shouldn't necessarily be benched after 2 bad opening road games with a new staff and players.
As a staff it actually sets up well as an early re-evaluation game to reset the standard.

Maybe, just maybe……now hear me out because I know this is pure lunacy. Maybe, the coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers will play whoever he thinks gives them the best chance to win, regardless of message boards or X(The artist formerly known as Twitter).

I think Sims sprain will keep him out of the game except in an emergency situation. QB draws , running the option and scrambling are what Sims did best. If thats what is affected.... heres your sign. Have the other team prepare for both. Purdy could be the back up at this point depending on how Sims feels by Thursday. I think Rhule is just letting it be known that you don't lose your position due to injury. Coach speak and politics. Harberg starts and we'll see. Why not have the other team spend an innordimant about of time practicing fumble recovery drills. Then when Harberg comes out, hopefully advantage Nebraska.

I don’t care if HH only plays against and beats teams in games “we should have won”. I’ll show you a list games “we should have won” over the last 7 seasons that we didn’t. I can start with Minnesota this season. it’s kind of the point to beat teams you should beat but unfortunately it’s never a give me. Not in this world.

I can talk **** about players (and I do), but I've never been to the point of wanting players to fail, I'd rather they just be replaced and give someone else a chance. I'll root for Sims, but root more for HH because he "might" be the reason the skers manage a minor bowl this year and start a new trend.

If Sims miraculously turned his level of play around I would be among many who would have to acknowledge it. But, its unlikely, so time for a QB change, and a different era to begin.

Also, I think we are all aware that whatever we say has zero bearing on what Rhule does. I do think the national media could make it a big deal of keeping Sims at the controls if he continues his level of play. You get Cowherd, Rome, Herbstreit, etc., of that level of questioning the starting QB at NU. Rhule would likely be pressured into making a legitimate change regardless of how he feels about Sims. Just an opinion.

Has anyone heard Rhule or been given any reason to think he’s going to flat out stand at the podium and say that a kid is just playing horribly and going to be benched? I haven’t. I have heard a lot of talk about him “losing the locker room” if he keeps starting Sims. Well, going to the press conference and telling everyone you were wrong and your QB sucks is a great way to “lose the locker room”. Of course he’s going to stand there and stand behind his players and have their back. That’s what a good coach does. Just because he defends his players and talks them up does not mean they’re going to continue to start. Sims might start, I’m not at practice so I don’t know who is performing well at practice. But I do know that he will never “lose the locker room” when he defends his players and always has their backs no matter what. He’s proven more than once he can resurrect a program. I’ll sit back and let him work. I didn’t have big expectations for year 1, clearly some people thought it was going to be an immediate 11-1 season. Let the staff coach and give them some time before passing so much judgment.

Led Zeppelin doesn't belong in that group brother, they're top 5 on any credible list.
Two things.. Dogging Hall and Oates and the Doobie Brothers is a fast track to my Ignore Hopper. LOL

Seriously, I've seen all those groups 4 times in 4 states and I'd go see them again tomorrow even if they are a little long in the tongue.

I know one thing about the Sims situation. And it is that nobody on this board knows **** about ****.
Whoever starts has my support.
Whoa, partner! While I don’t know a thing about coaching football, I do know a lot of **** about ****. I give my wife a report on my dog’s **** after most morning walks, and believe me when I say that I now know good **** from bad. It’s good to have lots of free time in retirement to learn new things.

I support him. I want him to do well. I have my doubts. My guess is if he does start/play he will have a short leash. He really needs to play a clean game. Not perfect but clean. Otherwise it's time for the other guy!
