...because why not? Rosebowl with some cryptic tweets last night about decommitments before signing day.

Nonetheless, Key, Selmon and Jordan Davis in the house (Davis is a big get).

Jimmy Holiday (QB from Madison Central) flips from TCU to Tennessee. 3* who will likely change positions. Wonder why we didn't go after him as a WR?

Jeremiah Pegues to Auburn, Trey Benson to Oregon, Caleb Offord to Notre Dame? Who even are those guys? Mississippi seems to be getting raided worse this year than last year.

Yeah his recruitment was a little puzzling to me. He will be a good slot WR in college, but wanted a chance to be a QB. Word is TN made the promise he will be a QB, we weren't willing to do that.

JJ Pegues (4*, TE, Oxford, MS) signs with..

Auburn.

Says Kiffin never even called him. (WTF)

Hate we couldn't get in with him no matter what position he's projected to play.

Trey Benson was down on our list. He's a RB and we got two guys committed who are better. Pegues is a stud, but he's from Oxford. If he stayed in state, he would be at Ole Miss.

Offord is a CB and we have better players signing today at the position. He wasn't offered by State or Ole Miss.

That cryptic tweet was about Ole miss. They dropped a recruit last night. Kinda crappy to drop a kid the night before he was suppose to sign...

I don’t disagree, at all. I get the new staff is going to evaluate players differently, etc. but the timing was crappy. The kid had been rock solid in his commitment, too. But, the flip side of that is his only other offer was USM. So, it’s easier to be rock solid in that situation. Regardless, they should have done it at least 3-4 days ago, and not last night. The story is “they just asked him to wait until February” but that’s just semantics. I feel for the kid, it sucks.

Im sure the Clarion Ledger will have a 3 page expose as to how ****** of a human being Lane Kiffin is to do that, like what they did with Mullen on a yearly basis, when he dropped a kid a month before signing day.

I agree with the person a few days ago who threw the BS flag on this. Irrelevant and lazy. Ole Miss recruits players from Starkville all the time, and we've signed some good ones from Oxford. If anything, most guys are ready to get out of their hometown. If Pegues was willing to move to Auburn, then there's no reason he wouldn't have come here.
Maybe we never had a chance but don't act like just because a player is "from Oxford" that we can't recruit them.

You're speaking conceptually about players from Oxford. I'm speaking specifically about JJ Pegues. His final three were Alabama, Auburn, and Ole Miss. If he had stayed in state, he was going to be at Ole Miss. We never had a shot with him.

I read the tweets basically saying that some coaches put kids into a bad situation. We have a 'commit' that I'm assuming will sign elsewhere (Jackson State?). But, I think we've kind of left him hanging in the wind over the last few months without much contact either way.

Nobody is saying that. Tyler Williams was from Oxford, and we may have another guy or two as well. But by and large, any big time recruit from there is going to either go to OM or out of state. Justin Woodall rings a bell.

Huge. That's impressive. Rosebowl made Grenada sound 50/50 OM / MSU the other day, but I've always known it to be more OM pressure locally.

4* DT from Horn Lake. Committed to OM early, but then decommitted back in October. There was some thought they might get him back in the fold with the Kiffin hire, but alas it was never meant to be. MSU was never in it with him.

AJ Brown is really the only elite Starkville kid they've gotten right? That was mainly Mullen's fault.

We were never in it because we didn't really want him that bad. Don't spread bad info.

Sort of related but it is starting to sound like DC Mac might be gone from Ole

Miss sooner than later. Rumblings on the Spirit.
