Parts of MS and AL are already under an enhanced risk for Sunday. Parameters are starting to come together to produce an outbreak of discrete supercells capable of possible violent long tracked tornadoes. The main area of concern now are the central and southern parts of the state but that will be better defined as we get closer.

Easter? What about last night? My power has been off for 12 hours, trees down all over the place and somebody I know has their back deck on their roof.

The last time the SPC had an enhanced risk this far out for my area, a tornado ended up hitting my house (January 11).

Let's hope this time it's more of a dud.

It is all still fluid depending on the track of the low pressure center but it could be bad for Dixie Alley.

One of the forums I follow has some talk and graphics. Too big to insert here so here is the link. For you weather buffs, it is a pretty good site with a large. number of knowledgeable people who live in the mid south.

I spend a lot of time on that site. Ho-lee-crap, the language some of those guys are using about Sunday....

Thought there was another coming a few days ago. A potential tornado was in Tunica and the projected path was pretty close to the 1-11 tornado.

Tupelo community tornado shelters were open 3/25 when we had severe weather. Tupelo has been under a shelter in place order since 3/21.

Yeah. It all depends on how far north the low goes it looks like.

Could be really bad.

Almost all of MS now under a moderate risk as an out break of severe thunderstorms looks to be more and more likely. This is shaping up to be a serious event, ladies and gentlemen. Take it seriously and heed all warnings for your area.

Lynn Spruill and Oktibbeha County Emergency Operations Center say the one in Starkville will be open regardless of the Wuhan Chinese Virus.

Seems to either be moving north or expanding in area.

Jim Cantore said this morning he'd not be surprised to see a high risk issued by Sunday.

Dear Asshats, take note of something important .................................................................

1. Chicom Wuhan Virus = public health emergency.
2. Severe Weather Threat = public safety emergency.

BOTH are covered under state and local emergency management jurisdiction and mandate. NEITHER has priority over the other. Both events are threats to life, public health and public safety. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency put out guidance over 2 weeks ago stating that, without regard to Chicom Wuhan Virus, ALL government-controlled shelters are REQUIRED to open and operate during periods where NWS has issued a severe thunderstorm watch or a tornado watch (and obviously for warnings, as well) for the relevant area. THERE IS NO LOCAL DISCRETION. If one does not agree with a local decision to open a shelter during inclement weather, one should contact MEMA to complain, not the locals. Please return to your regularly scheduled programming.
