Hit the ground and hurt his hip. By the looks of it it was dislocated at least. Then play never stalled and Q and other TN guy landed on him. Looked terrible

Looks like to me he banged his head on the floor. Refs let them play on the other end and we got the ball back and Q didn't see his bro on the floor and stepped near his head and face.

That was the concerning part, looked like his head hit the floor, and he was holding it while lying on the floor. He looked disoriented, as would be consistent with a concussion.

It is a neck injury and he's been taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the best in St. Louis. The TN player landed a foot with full weight and momentum on Nick's head.

That's basically a law suit on the SEC for the refs not stopping the game. Total complete negligence

Pat Adams, Rob Rorke, Brian Shey are the 3 officials "working" the game....all three should never work another game.

Hey fluffer boy, why is there a rule to stop play in football when the helmet comes off? Same reason you stop the game there. Injury could and would have been prevented if only one of the 3 refs did their job.

They only stop play after the play has finished. Same as basketball.

I agree they should have stopped play once MSU had the ball, but it seems like they wanted to give MSU the fast break chance and didnt realize Nick was there/wouldnt/couldnt get out of the way.

Horrible to see.
Awful that it happened.
Dumb ref decision in hindsight.

Suing the SEC?...pump the brakes and wait to see whats wrong.

Not true. When a helmet comes off, the play is dead by rule. And in basketball, if a player is injured bad enough, or in danger, play stops immediately. Good news is, it looks like he will be OK. But the refs 17ed this up badly.

They thought he wad out of the field of play.

Thats what Dykes said after the injury once he heard from someone on the reffing crew.
I rewatched the plays and Dykes mentioned this a few minutes after the injury.

If they had stopped play when we got the ball out in transition, people would be up in arms over stopping a scoring opportunity for us.

For what it’s worth, Howland said after the game he understood why the refs didn’t stop play and didn’t have an issue with it.
