I've had this same discussion about OM baseball for years on what is a realistic expectation. Pretty sure I was having the same discussion before the game in anticipation of what might happen. I had a caller try to defend the 1 in 19 years and that's when I said it wasn't super hard to get there, not hard enough to think 1 in 19 is anywhere near enough. MSU wasn't even part of the discussion. Had nothing to do with marginalizing anything by pointing out how many SEC teams are going regularly compared to Ole Miss' struggles. We just spent the day before talking about how Sunday night's 9th inning may have been the most special baseball inning I've ever watched and has to be on the MT Rushmore for State fans.

I'm kinda sick of this party line you guys are toting around. So all the years that Bianco has been there should be held against him and his lack of post season success when you guys had what, 7 regional appearances all time prior to his arrival? gtfoh. The only years IMO you can say the guy underachieved is when he lost regionals/supers at home. and hell two of those supers were in the first six years of him being on the job. He doesn't get any credit for what he has built?

Since 1999, super regional era, we've had 51 teams make it to Omaha. Only 31 have made more than one trip.
From 1999-2007 NCAA basketball you've had 69 teams make it to sweet 16. With 34 teams going more than once. Do you think it starts to look more or less comparable as I add 2008-2019?

What you don’t find these nonsports side bars fascinating?

I get it. It’s a slow time of the year for sports talk and guys are grasping for anything to talk about but it can get a bit ridiculous at times.

I think one thing that can get overlooked when it comes to baseball, is that of the three main sports, it is the one that is least affected by pre-season polls. What makes baseball so much more difficult than basketball and especially football, is that at the end of the year the best teams are the ones in the tournament and not just the ones that started the year highly ranked.

i actually like it with the current flavor of topics the show has. he isnt going to force sports topics when things are slow...i dont want to talk about bama or anyone else this far out, so its good letting topics evolve naturally. its the only show i can say i legitimately laugh at sometimes. chris does a good job trying to call it fair between state and om. on another note, he is also no afraid to share a few things about his personal life and faith. brooks has a great show and i wish there were more like him on the OM side.
