I just hope it’s giving Trev more time thinking who his hire is going to be…I sort of thought after the dust settled that it made sense to bring Frost back...but now...
Not being his hire should have made it easier but I think Frost being a Husker legend makes it so much tougher. It wasn't Trev's hire. Moos did us no favors with that contract extension. Trev made Frost restructure his contract. Doing so, and thus giving Frost another year, Trev laid out expectations and will make his judgement when the time is right. (After Oct. 1)
Haha!I just hope it’s giving Trev more time thinking who his hire is going to be…
Blake was a assistant coach and Gary Gibbs was the player. Not being his hire should have made it easier but I think Frost being a Husker legend makes it so much tougher.
I am trying to think of schools that have been in this position...Was John Blake a former Sooner?
Thanks!Blake was a assistant coach and Gary Gibbs was the player.
Who says he is giving him a full year? After October 1st Trev could very easily fire him..Haha!
"Dear Trev, Decided to **** the bed vs NW to give you an entire full season to find the right coach"
Me too and we'll see.I sort of thought after the dust settled that it made sense to bring Frost back...but now...
Sure but it would still give Trev the entire season unless he is going after someone who is not currently coaching.Who says he is giving him a full year? After October 1st Trev could very easily fire him..
You make a sound argument. Who do you think would have been the new coach? No question he should have been fired last year.
I personally think he should have got the boot after losing to Purdue, but I understood giving him the full season to try to turn it around. After dropping 6 straight to end the year, I was absolutely shocked how many defenders there still were.
I do understand Trev was in a tricky spot with the politics of the situation in firing the golden boy, but objectively Frost would have been fired if he were coaching at any other D1 football program than Nebraska last year.
That’s telling me some boosters wanted to give him one more shot.. Other than that it’s the 15M buyout the higher up didn’t want to pay out..No question he should have been fired last year.

Last year? I think they make Chins interim and do a full search. No clue who we would have ended up with. You make a sound argument. Who do you think would have been the new coach?
It could also go all the way till after the Purdue and Illinois games whether he remains our coach till the end of the year..Once Scott Frost is fired, watch Benning's kid suddenly show interest in Nebraska more than he currentl does.
I said last year when I admitted I was wrong about Scott Frost that we should have paid attention to what Benning was saying before the hire was made. Benning was right. He knew the guy well enough call it out before the hire was made. Once Scott Frost is fired I will reach out to Benning and tell him he was right and we were wrong.
Trev's hands were tied last years. He wanted to fire Frost but the money people, those that Trev reports to, some former players, a lot of fans, etc, were still demanding another year for Frost to get a shot at winning games. The compromise is the October 1st date and the firing can be made then.

So what, it's a part of the job. The point of the AD position is not to placate to those people and make an independent decision on what's best for the program. Trev failed massively at this. He wasn't cut out to be the AD at UNO and he certainly isn't at the flagship program in the state. Not sure why, but in the many multiple discussions of Frost getting a fifth year on this board, people always forget that Frost has people in his corner that Trev has to deal with....boosters, former players, a previous coach, a radio announcer, etc. There are lots of Frost apologists still out there, though I can't imagine why. IMHO placating these people by giving him another year was AT LEAST as important as the $15M buyout at the end of last year.
Sometimes I debate an issue with a longtime poster who I generally agree with on most things and the bottom line is I have to just agree to disagree on the issue under debate. Part of the Athletic Director job (IMHO) is to listen to, and make some attempt to comply with the "suggestions" from people who donate hundreds of thousands of dollars and/or buildings. So I reject your opinion that part of his AD position is not to placate those people, I think it is.So what, it's a part of the job. He more or less has to placate the boosters. They are the ones calling the shots behind the scenes. So what, it's a part of the job. A lot of us were done after the Illinois game last year, the coaching staff's post game comments after that game were all we needed to hear to cement our thoughts that they were overpaid dumbshits that had no idea what they were doingNo question he should have been fired last year.

And Matt Davison. Isnt he the primary fundraiser these days? Does he leave when Frost gets canned? I wonder how that factors in, if at all.Not sure why, but in the many multiple discussions of Frost getting a fifth year on this board, people always forget that Frost has people in his corner that Trev has to deal with....boosters, former players, a previous coach, a radio announcer, etc. There are lots of Frost apologists still out there, though I can't imagine why. Bingo , if only all the dipshits in the board would figure that out.He more or less has to placate the boosters. They are the ones calling the shots behind the scenes.
That's okay, you've always been a respectable poster. A lot of people like to argue like children just because they disagree with somebody. There's no need for that.Sometimes I debate an issue with a longtime poster who I generally agree with on most things and the bottom line is I have to just agree to disagree on the issue under debate. Undoubtedly true. Been in what position? Having a former player become HC and get canned? Mike Shula comes to mind along with Joker Phillips at Kentucky. Phil Fulmer was eventually canned after a mostly successful career at UT.Not being his hire should have made it easier but I think Frost being a Husker legend makes it so much tougher.

That ************ has Frosty stink all over him from them jerking each other off so much. He'll be gone in a package firing with his bro.And Matt Davison. Isnt he the primary fundraiser these days? Does he leave when Frost gets canned? I wonder how that factors in, if at all.
