With Duke, Johnson and Doorson on the roster - and most likely playing the 5 - I think Carter is destined to play the 4 along with Gene.
Although, if Pike shortens the rotation and Carter plays like a 4-Star JUCO recruit, maybe he plays some 5 as well, alongside Gene at the 4.
We may finally have true competition for minutes at the center spot, which would be a great thing. In recent years, it's been too much "minutes by default" when guys are in foul trouble or trying to find someone (anyone) who could be productive.
Doorson - Finally, finally, finally healthy. Ended the season strong, has a full (healthy!) offseason to improve, and should come back ready to compete for minutes. 5th year bigs are a great luxury to have, because by then they've usually figured out body control and have more poise. Really looking forward to what he can do this year.
Doucoure - Got a ton of game speed reps last year, though I don't think he was really ready for them. Hopefully planted the seeds for this season - as he now *knows* what it takes to compete and stay on the floor in the Big Ten. Hoping to see him hit the weight room hard and bulk up a bit, to be a bit better banging bodies underneath. If he can make the same type of progression as Omoruyi did from frosh->soph year, that'd be huge.
Johnson - Tons of good noises coming out of practice and interviews, so hopes are high here. Pike said late in the season that he progressed much faster than expected, and could have been productive late in the year. Great talk about his passing ability, and he also has a touch more size than Doucoure/Carter. Hoping he comes out with guns blazing next year.
Carter - Highly regarded Juco PF, but definitely big enough to play C, too. If Omoruyi takes up the lion's share of minutes at the PF, and Carter is too talented to leave on the bench, he'll also be in the competition for minutes at the 5.
Omoruyi - Saw minutes at the 5 last year, but I doubt he'll see much there this year with the other four bigger guys battling for those 40 min (and without Freeman taking 25 min at the 4).
