I mean the timeline lines up with what the recruiting guys have said, it’s UK.

First off, I'm excited as heck if this turns out to be true! Not only for getting Sharpe's talent, but also for who he might talk into coming with him. Buuuuut, and I hate to be that guy or a Negative Nancy, but a commitment doesn't guarantee Sharpe would ever play a min for UK. In this day and age with opportunities outside of NCAA ball for these elite guys, things could change real quick. I'll be excited, but won't get my hopes up until he steps on the court at the first game.

Well, if we're being honest, this potential commitment and Antigua being back on board is probably not a coincidence.
Win/Win for us as long as Sharpe commits to UK.
Either Cal's still got his mojo, or Antigua being back is paying off.

Feel much the same way. Things are so different in todays world.

What?!?! Well this can't be right! I was assured by many on this board that Cal couldn't get top guys anymore....
Gotta love the sarc and the baiting...and the fact that he hasn't actually signed yet and may, in fact, go G league after all.

While I understand and agree with the spirit of your post, let's remember cal was coach the last few years too. So don't underestimate the zeroes that were Barbee and justus and that they were allowed to hang around for years while adding zero value.

I know what you mean! I was about fed up with these constant top 2 recruiting classes as well. I can't believe we let that go on so long!

From the reports, Sharpe sounds similar to Monk in regard to athleticism and scoring on the perimeter - which is exciting to me, since I think Monk may have been the most gifted 2G I've ever seen in my years following UK (his athletic gifts seemed to me to be perfect for a basketball 2G). As beautiful of a young scorer as Monk was, however, he was also inexcusably deficient even for a freshman in regard to most everything other than perimeter scoring. Again, the reports on Sharpe, however, are that he will defend and rebound, and maybe also be more adept at going to the rim. Anyway, Sharpe would be fun to watch develop, and I think by the end of next season he could end of being one of the better wings in college basketball.

He does appear to enjoy blocking shots.

Get Sharpe, Wallace, and Lively or Bona and I am happy.

Hopefully we get some veterans back (Fredrick, Allen, Hopkins, Ware, maybe Toppin).

Then get some transfers to fill in the holes.

A Wallace, Fredrick, Sharpe, Clark, and Allen rotation at guard would be exciting.

He's batting 2/26 on his last 26 top 5 RSCI player offers. Might want to slow your roll there before mocking the skeptics.
You act like that is the singular qualifier for success or recruiting success. How many of those top 5 misses had deep post season runs? Hell, we had a recruiting victory and subsequent transfer that likely had more success than these top 5 guys you're referring to.

Not everything is binary. You can both be glad for what you have while also wanting better.

Cal alone isn't enough. That isn't even a bad thing. I'm just glad he finally surrounded himself again with the best support staff

Of course it is, I don't recall saying it wasn't, but we also can't act like it was that bad before. We literally never had worse than the 2nd best recruiting class in 12 years.

Ohh, I like the new staff, but as we saw with Duren, Bates, Geroge. Flipowski and a couple others, we aren't guaranteed guys we want just because the new staff came.

This is silly...Calipari all but acknowledged recruiting issues when he fired his top two recruiters and replaced them with O and Chin.

Also, those top 2 classes, year after year, hasn't stopped a 6 year FF drought and a 9-16 season last year.

"Kentucky First Fans" and "Cal First Fans" will celebrate together if Coach can bring in the best of the best year in and year out like good ole days....(provided he wins on the court, of course).
