you can say that about any recruit in the country. your really reaching with that take.First off, I'm excited as heck if this turns out to be true! Not only for getting Sharpe's talent, but also for who he might talk into coming with him. Buuuuut, and I hate to be that guy or a Negative Nancy, but a commitment doesn't guarantee Sharpe would ever play a min for UK. In this day and age with opportunities outside of NCAA ball for these elite guys, things could change real quick. I'll be excited, but won't get my hopes up until he steps on the court at the first game.
I don’t recall Cal saying he could no longer land top 5 talent. Particularly considering Boston was ranked 5th nationally by Rivals. This is silly...Calipari all but acknowledged recruiting issues when he fired his top two recruiters and replaced them with O and Chin.
Also, those top 2 classes, year after year, hasn't stopped a 6 year FF drought and a 9-16 season last year.
"Kentucky First Fans" and "Cal First Fans" will celebrate together if Coach can bring in the best of the best year in and year out like good ole days....(provided he wins on the court, of course).
Why do you think he fired his top 2 recruiting guys last season?I don’t recall Cal saying he could no longer land top 5 talent. Particularly considering Boston was ranked 5th nationally by Rivals.
I don’t think Jai Lucas got fired man.Why do you think he fired his top 2 recruiting guys last season?
I dont't recall him firing his top recruiters when we were getting Wall, Cousins, Knight, Jones, Davis, Gilchrist, Noel, Randle, Twins, Towns, etc....in consecutive years.
Nice dodge...but fail...You know Jai was not allowed to recruit off campus.I don’t think Jai Lucas got fired man.
There's only one kid ranked number one in their class. I don't see many of those kids going to college. I hope I'm wrong, and it was just a thought. I personally don't think it's a reach at all. Going forward I don't see many of the top three kids in each class going the college route, unless the NIL deals get very lucrative.you can say that about any recruit in the country. your really reaching with that take.
What an attitude to have.First off, I'm excited as heck if this turns out to be true! Not only for getting Sharpe's talent, but also for who he might talk into coming with him. It’s a fair and realistic concern in today’s recruiting environmentWhat an attitude to have.
What did I dodge? You said something that was factually inaccurate. He was hired to be the lead recruiter. He was also promoted to full-time assistant last year, before the season even started.Nice dodge...but fail...You know Jai was not allowed to recruit off campus.
Regards
Great. Haven't watched him in a full game setting, but sounds like he has the hops for it.He does appear to enjoy blocking shots.
In about three weeks we'll get to shift from "why hasn't he committed" to “worry about the G league” for 14 months.
Gotta love the sarc and the baiting...and the fact that he hasn't actually signed yet and may, in fact, go G league after all.
This is silly...Calipari all but acknowledged recruiting issues when he fired his top two recruiters and replaced them with O and Chin.

Ha ha ha...move those goalposts...this THREAD is about recruiting. Jeez you're so blind in the forest for the trees. You act like that is the singular qualifier for success or recruiting success. How many of those top 5 misses had deep post season runs? Hell, we had a recruiting victory and subsequent transfer that likely had more success than these top 5 guys you're referring to.
...and you circle back to last season's 9-16 mark. Continue, please.I don’t recall Cal saying he could no longer land top 5 talent. Particularly considering Boston was ranked 5th nationally by Rivals.
I also don't recall too many of those top 5 guys playing in many final fours or winning championships in that span either. That's just further proof recruiting well doesn't always equate to winning.
Every fan should celebrate if we are winning. That's kinda of what they do!
Eh. Remember when Jaden Hardy was a UK lock and went G League? Some of us can spot patterns or read the seams on the fastball. Others of us just yell "EEYORE!" because 'muh feelz' or something.Eeyore
Note the bolded part. This is known as a straw man. Cal doesn't have to SAY that, him firing his recruiters is a SOLID IMPLICATION.I don’t recall Cal saying he could no longer land top 5 talent. Particularly considering Boston was ranked 5th nationally by Rivals.

You mean the same coaches that had literally jusr landed a top 5 player in Boston?Note the bolded part. This is known as a straw man. Cal doesn't have to SAY that, him firing his recruiters is a SOLID IMPLICATION.
What does going 9-16 have to do with recruiting or top 5 guys?...and you circle back to last season's 9-16 mark. Continue, please.
1. You shifted the argument from recruiting to wins and losses. What goal posts were moved?
Do you normally resolve to ad hominem attacks when you lack substance?
You mean the same coaches that had literally jusr landed a top 5 player in Boston?
What does going 9-16 have to do with recruiting or top 5 guys?
I think it’s pretty strange to say that the coaching in just one particular year was bad, when there are 11 other years that would prove that to be incorrect. Would it not make more sense that the players that we had were a combination of overrated and didn’t get hardly any practice time? Maybe too much logic.aren't recruiting & wins/losses related
Either the recruits are over rated or if not, the coaches can't coach
last year was a combination of both
I mean none of my posts include mention of our wins and losses, particularly not 9-16, but I guess if you say so...1. You shifted the argument from recruiting to wins and losses.
2. I thought it was about wins and losses, I believe you are confused. That's probably why you're deflecting.
3. You are the one who tried to conflate winning and recruiting, maybe you should answer that question yourself.
It's a fair point, and there have been multiple threads debating that particular topic season by season. Would 2013 be considered a bad coaching season? Would 2014 be a coaching overachievement?I think it’s pretty strange to say that the coaching in just one particular year was bad, when there are 11 other years that would prove that to be incorrect. Would it not make more sense that the players that we had were a combination of overrated and didn’t get hardly any practice time? Maybe too much logic.
I thought the goal was to move away from the one and done; drafts night is all that matters; their young and it's just potential at this point model and move to something more sustainable, with more experienced players that we actually get the benefit of seeing develop...It would be nice to get back to signing multiple top ten guys, again. Sharpe and Wallace would be a hell of a backcourt. Wallace is better than some are thinking. Tremendous defender for his age. Rebounds, does the dirty work.
Why can't you have both? You need both to win at the highest levels.I thought the goal was to move away from the one and done; drafts night is all that matters; their young and it's just potential at this point model and move to something more sustainable, with more experienced players that we actually get the benefit of seeing develop...
How about : " Nothing's etched in stone till the hat goes on!"You’re not doing a good enough job of trying to divide. Try a different phrasing.
What top rated freshman did Baylor just have? Why can't you have both? You need both to win at the highest levels.
Not new, it's lead belly.Appears there's a new troll on board....same ol type posts though, they never learn
How many Championships or FF's has Calipari been to with a Baylor type roster? What top rated freshman did Baylor just have?
