Game is on hold per carino because we won't play the next one at Prudential. We've seen how stubborn and moronic Hobbs can be in negotiations with the schiano fiasco. Hopefully we just play the game at Prudential. They're a very beatable team and by far our biggest OOC rival. We're gonna just let the series die because of one year? Get your **** together Hobbs and get it done.

Seton Hall has the better roster right now, and we all know how Pike likes his OOC schedule to be cupcake city.

There are two sides to that argument. And frankly, I think the argument that the game should be played at the RAC next year is the stronger argument. That’s what the contract calls for after all.
I could not care less. It is one year and then it'll be rectified. If the end game of us putting our foot in the sand is no series, that is an epic fail. It's the game I look forward to the most because I despise Seton hall fans and want to beat their vanilla soft team yearly. Home or away does not matter to me. I go to both. I root hard at both.

honestly I do not care about this game anymore
Well, you're one person. There are more Rutgers fans that look forward to this in state rivalry game than literally any game on the big ten schedule, myself included. What matchup even comes remotely close?

Is this the part where a handful of our fans and a handful of theirs pretend that this game doesn't matter to them?

These two things are both true:

1. Seton Hall did Rutgers dirty last year. RU was holding dates open for the game, and SHU went and scheduled other games instead including against Penn State.

2. Rutgers should not use that as a reason to exit the rivalry entirely. Suck it up, play at SHU this year and extend the current contract so that each team gets the same number of home games. Be the good guy.

We all should listen to the SHU alum, Jerry Carino.....oy vey.....LOL

It is pretty simple, Seton Hall went to Rhode Island, then Omaha Nebraska to play Oregon, then Penn State from a Wednesday, Friday and Sunday night instead of playing and HOSTING Rutgers last year.

Can we just start a GoFundMe for this game, since SHU lost out on their precious gate of RU fans. When they inflate the prices of the tickets, knowing full well, RU brings its fans to the Rock?? They claim they didn't want to play the game because "of the pandemic".....As if their school was the only school negatively impacted financially or as a program.

But let's take Carino at face value, as he explains how going to Rhode Island, Omaha Nebraska and the Happy Valley and Penn State, suddenly allows them the ability to tell RU, "we'll get back to you, because we're probably going to lose", then Seton Hall craters and crumbled at the end of the season and miss the NCAAS altogether......while RU danced and moved on in the NCAAs.

Now they retool their roster.....?? Cool, bring it to the RAC and play the game or set up the GoFundMe for the summer months.....it's getting tiresome with the crazy media coverage, leaving out important facts.

You have time to call Rhode Island, Eugene Oregon to schedule a neutral site game in Omaha Nebraska and then call struggling Penn State on the road, in the height of a pandemic, but you somehow "didn't call RU on a game THEY were hosting???

Please don't ask me to believe this line of BS......and AshCatchEm, please don't talk about anything you know literally nothing about, this is not a Hobbs situation, every HC in America is responsible for schedules, an AD never gets involved in dictating schedules.

I think despite my rant and suggestions for a GoFundMe, Carino needs clicks and content, and there are enough people that want the charade of a game and good faith to continue. RU will take the high road and go to the Rock, to appease the people that actually want to see the game and help SHU and the Prudential center get their ducks in a row......

I'm not allowed to talk about anything on a public message board but you can continue writing your literal novels with every post that, if I'm lucky, contain 1-2 actual talking points? Not allowed to talk about the basketball matchup with by far the most buzz year after year on the basketball forum. Got it.

Last year:

Louisville hosted Kentucky

Florida State hosted Florida

Creighton hosted Nebraska

Cincinnati hosted Xavier

Iowa State hosted Iowa

Villanova hosted St. Joe's

Marquette hosted Wisconsin

Somehow all of those rivalries were able to continue on without the scheduled home team throwing a fit and backing out (some threw a fit but played anyway).

We all know who the bad guy is here. The question is whether that's worth ending the series over. I don't think it is.

Hawk is exactly correct. Seton Hall ducked RU big time last season. They played other home games that were scheduled but avoided us completely. They spent a lot of money going to Rhode Island, Penn State & Oregon at neutral Creighton but cried over losing money on a scheduled home game with RU. Personally I don't think their roster is above ours if Geo and Ron return. I hope the game can be worked out for this season but if not I believe it is SHU's loss. We already play 20 huge BIG 10 games in a conference which is far above the BIg East at this time.

Play it at the RAC or don't play it. It was their turn to host and they forfeited it.

Don't want to hear COVID. They were able to play Iona and Wagner at the Pru Center plus their big east slate so the ability to schedule it was there.

You think Louisville wanted to host Kentucky in an empty arena? Nope but they did it.

Hobbs will relent because he is a SHU guy but hope Pike digs in his heels.

Why is the burden of keeping this series alive dependent on RU/ Hobbs giving in and conceding something?

F@ck that! You’re right, it is one year, so Seton Hall should nut up... and do what the contract calls for. Period.

It would be SHU screwing this up, not Hobbs.

So you're fine with just letting a rivalry die because shu fans and admin are douches? That's always been known. I still want to play and beat them.

Last time we played SHU, I was in a San Jose CA hotel and went to the hotel gym after work. Grabbed the remote and when I flipped through the channels I found we were playing and we were beating the brakes off the Hall like 18-2 or something like that.

I didn’t even remember we were playing that day. This is no longer the big game for me and many others. It ranks somewhere below Michigan, MSU, Ohio State, Maryland, Indians, Minnesota, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin and Illinois. It maybe has more juice than PSU, Northwestern and Nebraska.

just my .02.

Yes. Why should the P5 school give in to the mid major. We have the trophy. We have the story that they ducked us. If they want the trophy let them come get it back.
Because that's just weak. Nobody cares who had the trophy last. That is not why the games are played. A weak excuse to claim we won forever. We will not win against them ever again if there is no series.

I want to beat them, every single year, for the rest of my life. That is rivalry passion. And plenty of their fans feel the same. It is the battle for NJ.

Well it was sold out and probably the loudest crowd until the Maryland game at the end of the year, so...

You bring Hobbs into a situation, he's not involved in....Hobbs is not a discussion point for games or game days, we get the stuff about Schiano is apparent, let it go.....

I think the long time RU fans still consider the SHU game as one of the most important that we play....... despite the fact that the league games should be more important

What you describe would more aply describe us playing Princeton..... this game has faded, yet there are still a few fans who would circle the game on the schedule due to decades old rivalry

A Princeton game would not be a hot ticket, while a Hall game is a big draw

I watched Luther Wright playing at the RAC as a student in 1990. I want the game to continue but as we get better, Seton Hall becomes less
Important to me. We have bigger fish to fry.

As long as SH remains a good team the game will be a hot ticket with a loud crowd

you are right that the better big 10 games
Should be more important

And yet they aren't. I would've been more excited going into the shu match in 2020 than I was heading into the Illinois matchup. I have plenty of friends who went to Seton hall. I have zero friends who went to Illinois.

Yes.....We do not need them at this point. Our B1G schedule is tough enough and why not add a tougher opponent elsewhere.

You really just do not get it. It does not matter whether they are the best team in the country or the worst. Have you people been out of college so long that you forget what a college rivalry is? Jesus

The game is going to be played, because SHU is going to whine to the state and even though they screwed RU over, they're going to whine and place the blame on RU for not playing it going forward. Then the spin doctors are going to spin it as RU and Pike not looking to continue the series.

Pike is a super nice guy so the fact he isn't openly diplomatic about this, is all you need to know.

We didn't run away. We were ready to play last year. They were not. We appear to be ready to honor the contract this year and have them at the RAC per the contract. They don't want to come.

So tell me again which school is the one running

"Force majeure".....let me Google this "legalese"

I'm no legal expert but it borders on ridiculous or the notion that something specific preventer the event from happening. Not that you could not play ANY games whatsoever, because of the pandemic happening, SHU wasn't prevented from playing ANY games.....they are temporarily now known as "Scared Hall University".....they can't play unless they get the amount of ticket sales they want OR they can't come to the RAC, due to unforseen traffic on the Garden State Parkway or Turnpike......if there's too much traffic on the day they have to travel the distance, let's just throw a legal clause out there.....

OR, if we can't get to sit front and center for a road game with 20% of the tickets made available to them in RUs gym, we don't want to continue to play.

I thought they were the Basketball Conference?? Maybe I missed that memo that changed when they missed the NCAAs.

You don't talk to attorneys and hide behind Carino throwing out ridiculous articles leaving out 8 other national rivals who also played during a pandemic either. It's Basketball folks and RU is good and SHU is CLEARLY, very uncomfortable with that fact right now.

We all know if the game could be played, you don't need a lawyer, you need Kevin Willard to man-up and not run like he did last year. The RAC has apparently scarred SHU and Willard into legalese indefinitely......the building is clearly too loud, too intimidating and too much for the Pirate Blue brigade.....

How about we all compromise and play a home and home this year

Then who hosts next year in your scenario?? Doesn't really solve anything, the issue is SHU "dont want that smoke (my nephew and younger relatives keep me up to date on the current lingo)...LMAO
