We beat Purdue whoop de do! Even the way we won a game is horrible - 50 pass attempts 40- yards rushing and gave up 199 yards on the ground. The most telling part of this whole game was the way Purdue pushed us around the whole game - Let me state that again "Purdue" physically beat up the Nebraska Cornhuskers

And still some on this board are saying - If he goes 7-5 he earns another year - Riley has earned nothing from this University or fan base ,think we were a laughing stock before now we are just pitiful.

Get rid of him and call Frost and beg/pay him whatever it takes to come

I think MR will be gone no matter what. My question is what exactly has Frost done to prove he can coach with big boys? The AAC is way different than the BIG10. I think peoples love with Frost at this point is an emotional one vs a talent.

I edited my post. I hear and share in your frustration. It’s obvious that the football program has issues, hence the new AD and decisions that will come at the end of the year. However there’s no arguing the timetable that’s been set forth

I believe Florida fired their coach to get a jump on other programs - They knew he would not last the season and saw benefit in having the opening now rather than later - maybe we should be paying attention

We've got a couple of really bright good guys who will make this decision and one of them has the endorsement of none other than the Tomfather. It'll be fine. The decision that is made will be logical and based on critical analysis of the entire situation and not just a knee jerk fan reaction to a poor season. It will involve all factors including recruiting, injuries, staff, game coaching etc. IF they can Riley we'll know they were professional and deliberate in the decision making. IF they decide to keep him the same holds true.

Agree. I also believe if we don't take a shot at him now we won't get him. He could be the next TO and be here for 20+ years. If he comes and finds success I don't see him leaving to go anywhere else. In that aspect I think it would be great. My point was this hire needs to be right. We can't go another 20 years of this. Neb football won't survive it. Deep down I do belive Frost will be the next coach.

Explain to me what is so naive. I know exactly how it works. I know Ronnie Green. I posted before Green mentioned it publicly that Green would know where Tom stood on the AD hire and Riley's status. Now we know that in fact Tom and some former players were on the search committee. This is not hiring and firing the manager at the Burger King you work at. This is a high stakes game and we've got good people making the decisions. Let it play out.

Yeah, 2002, 2004, 2007, and countless other debacles since 1998 say differently. It's been this mediocre for a long time.

The high point since 2001 is essentially a 1 second game against Texas which NU lost.

I have looked at the stats for the season and where the team is statistically. The stats are horrid. Nationally they are in the lower half in everything except K.O. returns. You can't win championships if you suck. The stats speak for themselves, and the record reflects the stats. This is a very bad team.

I’m at a work meeting today - in Iowa - and the consistent joke for the day is how excited the Huskers are for their come from behind win over Purdue. Iowa State fans are having a huge amount of fun at the Huskers expense and there is not a damn thing I can say about it - because they are right. I think at the end of the day barring running the table that HCMR is let go after Iowa. With that said if there was ever a team that could benefit from making a bowl game and getting another 3-4 weeks of practice it is this Nebraska team. If they already knew they were going to fire him and McElwain gave UF ammunition to fire him based on false death threats, Florida won big time not having to buy him out. I'm sure they will pursue Frost to be their HC, but it doesn't seem that Frost will entertain offers until after the season is over anyway.

I think it is possible to hold both views. Namely, that Husker football has been very mediocre since 2001, even horrible at times (2007), AND that Riley has brought it down even lower. This HAS been a very piss poor three years even by our recent standards.
But that doesn't necessarily mean he should be fired either. I lean that way, but freely admit I am an idiot about such things. Three years is a short leash. But this is modern college football and short leashes are becoming common. But that is probably a bad trend, not a good one.
At this point though, the question may be purely academic. Riley has lost the fan base and Moos may feel it is just time to give the program an adrenaline boost by bringing in new blood
