Senior World Championships preview/thread

[Boomhawk52]

I will keep trying. I'll do Snyder who is on mat B soon. Not a Bo fan anymore but we are all USA

[Boomhawk52]

EV did just enough to win. Hard to score on. Like I said she is long and played smart.

[Boomhawk52]

- Random thought in between watching a ladies match. I think Borge will be a great freestyler.

[Boomhawk52]

Snyder in the red. Good central position by Snyder. Shucking and shucking. Snyder good hand control. Outside left shot and pushing. He pushed the guy around forever. Stopped. Underhook Snyder, snap and 1. Oh, he gets two more. 3-0 Snyder. (That is a man quoting the announcer) pushing and one more Snyder. Go around Snyder. And they are up. Snyder shoots gets one out. Shot in and front headlock and 2. And TF Snyder. Don't know the math

[Boomhawk52]

I'll do EVs on mat 3 in a bit after I shotgun a beer.

[Boomhawk52]

I will say that Iowa wrestling isn't dead. It's really international, just need some kinks. All I'm watching is Iowa, Iowa; and a sprinkle of Penn state overseas. Idc what you think

[Boomhawk52]

Bo tech like a psycho

[Corby2]

Big round here 4 in 1/4. Hopefully we can get one maybe 2 through

[Boomhawk52]

EV vs Germany 23 worlds.
- EV front headlock, stailmate. EV going for her ties. Shot clock on EV, gave up one but got two. Heaving on the leg lace. Back up. 2-1 EV at break. Sooo long. Start 2nd. Double overs For them and EV fn pins her!!!

[Boomhawk52]

She is fun to watch! Said no one but me!

[Boomhawk52]

Bo on same mat

[HawkAlum2002]

It's interesting, the Frenchman that Bo beat has almost zero UWW freestyle results, he is almost exclusively Beach Wrestling. His last two freestyles he went 0-1 but he must've won a match today.

[Boomhawk52]

Bo on same mat

May up!

[Boomhawk52]

2-0 may. Hand fight. Missed the takedown from terrible commercials. Good outside single but good limp arm. Now we are tied at 2. Outside single, 2! Better finish. 4-2 us. Bad shot, gives up 2, 4-4. Right outside single, 2! 6-4. Push out 6-6? I guess we won

[Corby2]

Great start 2-0. Now it's the mens turn

[Boomhawk52]

[Boomhawk52]

Great shot sad before break

[Boomhawk52]

Snyder on clock.. syd 4-1, now 4-3 syd. Syd getting lungs. 4-4 Snyder on criteria from push out . Snyder wins!

[Boomhawk52]

Great match couldn't talk about it. Snyder did great. But just two greats battling. Snyder pushed the pace

[Corby2]

[Boomhawk52]

[Boomhawk52]

[Boomhawk52]

[Boomhawk52]

Would have been nice

[Boomhawk52]

Bo goes so hard . That's what we are used to seeing

[Corby2]

Unbelievable USA 4-0. Bassett broke him bad LFG

[Boomhawk52]

Bo wins late on Iowa wrestling style

[Boomhawk52]

I'm not mad. That is how you do it!

[Tanner Lafever]

Here's the final sequence of Leydecker's WBF over 2023 World bronze medalist Anastasia Blayvas (Germany):

For context: A takedown late 1st period gave the Hawkeye a 2-1 lead after going on the activity clock first - which she nearly extended with a leg lace just before the break.

Meanwhile, on Leydecker's half of the bracket, the defending World champ from North Korea was pinned in her QF - meaning the Hawkeye will face Japan in the semis instead.

Japan went 1-1 at U23's at 53kg two weeks ago, so I'm not exactly sure what to make this momentary matchup on Mat C.

[Corby2]

5-1 win for Leydecker onto the finals

Bo wins late on Iowa wrestling style

Yeah we didn’t need him. Good one Tom

[Corby2]

Bassett is on onto the finals

[Tanner Lafever]

Leydecker gets it done 6-1 and punches her ticket to the finals:

Just a masterful job controlling the ties in that semifinal, never really letting Japan generate any sort of offense until the waning moments - which Leydecker scored an exposure off of anyway.

She’ll face Ukraine’s Nataliia Klivchutska in tomorrow’s final (~8:00am CT).

Klivchutska surprisingly emerged from her half of the bracket, picking up two pins and defeating the top seed (and reigning silver medalist) from Russia, 4-2 in the quarters.

[Boomhawk52]

Excuse me Tanner my thread bahaha just need a tooth pulled at 1:30 and I'm good

Bo wins late on Iowa wrestling style

In the same way that Mesenbrink and Nolf win with "Iowa style"?
