Might have trouble finding one team only for a foundation game. May be easier to go across the West Va side and join 2 or 3 other teams in an already scheduled scrimmage with 2 or 3 teams involved and see if they will add Graham to it.

Teams are not driving 4.5 hours for a benefit game — sorry.. Graham tried to get a game with Glenvar and Blacksburg and both said no .. so
Not necessarily true. Coach Mills is from far SWVA and Graham is that area’s powerhouse. I’m just thinking out loud. Would be good competition for the young Generals. Dinwiddie is actually going to Virginia Beach to scrimmage Green Run and Oscar Smith and then a 3 hour trip to Battlefield the next week.

I dont hate the idea - I get tired of seeing swva teams being left out of statewide polls and top player lists- I wish the teams from both ends of the state could play more . However it is not feasible to drive 4-5 hours for an hour scrimmage especially when Charlotte and Greensboro are 2-3 hours drive south. Also there is some solid East Tennessee teams a few hours away . I’m all for the kids and small schools getting more recognition.

There's also quality Eastern Kentucky teams and Southern and Central West Va teams available

I'm a fan of true home games and I really don't care for neutral site games.

But I'm also a fan of wacky games that have no business taking place (between Virginia public schools of course).

However...teams could do this if they feel like they don't want to travel the entire way to play a game.

If you're going to have an Abingdon play say, a New Kent, why don't they contact the folks at Staunton River which is roughly halfway for both and say "Hey, we want to play this neutral site game. Can we play it at your place one night where you guys aren't at home? We can split the gate 40/40 with 20 going to you (Staunton River), you keep 80 of the concessions and we'll split the other 20. Abingdon and New Kent will split the cost of the officials. There will be a two-year deal with one school being the home school one year and the other school being the home school the other year. The home school will supply the PA announcer. And each school contributes a set financial amount towards operations (lights/security).

Plenty of ways to skin a cat here and this is just a random example between two random schools I picked (I could care less if you're a fan of one of these schools as I just randomly picked them to show an example). Schools in geographically odd states do this and hosting schools are generally glad to host.

This might not be a concrete perfect example, but it does show that these things are possible if people actually want to put forth an effort (yes, I know it's tough to try to be creative and actually try as it's easier to complain).

If you like "exotic" matchups, William Fleming and Union have agreed to a home & home for the 2027-28 cycle.

From field to field, that's around a 3 hr 20 minute drive.
Love this! We should encourage more wackiness like this!

I'd rather have something like this instead of some undisciplined Create-A-Team AAU academy-type program against a public school or an out-of-state contest that some people crave for whatever reason.
