Private does not have to follow that if they dont want to. They run at the behest of a Board of Trustees in most cases

Starkville just announced a delay until August 24. Seems weird they'd do that if they think the governor will be announcing something else in the next day or two.
Yep, it's a good test case.
Your takes get worse by the day.
So, you're OK with depriving disadvantaged kids of a good education while more affluent ones continue to get a decent education because they're more likely to have the home support needed to make distance learning work. Got it. Never would have expected that from your virtue signaling internet persona though.
Corinth had their 1st student test positive today, a high school student.I guess we will know the fallout of Corinth in about 2 more weeks.

For our school district, you have to pick virtual full time or in person full time. I assume they are going to have teachers that teach only virtual and teachers that teach only in person, at least until they get to high enough grades where you have subject matter teachers and they can't easily move them around. . And that makes sense to me. Too much work to expect teachers to split their attention in one class. And also gives an opportunity to place some of the at risk teachers that are good in completely virtual teaching to make sure they don't quit for a year.
What caused the change to start in August and get out in May?
Corinth with a positive COVID test from high school student. Student and everyone exposed to him for 15 minutes quarantined for 2 weeks.

Schools in Mississippi should never start until after Labor Day.
Hybrid is stupid. Online doesn't work. Go back to school or wait longer.
Pascagoula-Gautier district delayed our opening earlier today from Aug 6 (next Thursday) but only until until Aug 10 (following Monday) to give the teachers more time (which sounds weird because they’ve had months) I was thinking the same as you, though - why not wait for an announcement from the Gov if you thought one was coming.
My wife was telling me that the districts statewide had to submit their reopening plans to Tate today. She thinks he’ll delay the openings after “reviewing” them this weekend “because a majority of the submitted plans are not sufficient”. But who the 17 knows...
Any idea how often they test students? Or is it done only after symptoms are shown?
I’m not the only mod, *******.
I heard a few hours ago two more students tested positive at Corinth.
