only make $270k? NJ.com is running out of ideas for hit pieces https://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/...ayroll-why-rutgers-says-its-not-nepotism.html
It’s less about what they are being paid and more that they are skirting the nepotism clauses. If you have one relative on staff with appropriate credentials. You can excuse it. When you have 3 with zero experience. There’s an issue. Regardless of what they’re paid. And then excusing it away with saying they don’t report to you is next level. When you have to state that they volunteered and work 16-18 hrs/ day basically shows that you know you’re wrong. His sons get a lot of play here but they are irrelevant. If the team was winning no one would care. The are making a pittance.
Perhaps one is legitimately qualified and talented to be on the staff, but hiring all 3 reeks of mindless nepotism. It’s less about what they are being paid and more that they are skirting the nepotism clauses. This is exactly why multiple coaches are on record as to why they don’t hire their children. They send them away to learn the “business” other places. Once they get skills then maybe they can come home. But not first gig. Beamer, Ferentz, Paterno etc… all in record saying as such. Good friends father was a D1 AD. He wouldn’t even let his son take a position in the same conference. Shipped him off to Iowa for his first gig.Perhaps one is legitimately qualified and talented to be on the staff, but hiring all 3 reeks of mindless nepotism.
let’s be very clear that, while might make fun of it once in a while, I couldn’t care less that his sons are on the staff so long as they’re getting paid appropriately for what they do.
NOW….Why does somebody who played the game at the collegiate level and coached for 30 years now at both the collegiate and professional levels, need someone following them around with a book of what to do when?
That tells me so much about so many things. Enough.
Agree 100%. Especially your last paragraph. Schiano is living proof of paralysis from analysis. He doesn’t know what he is looking at anymore. Drunk with data. No feel.Like many coaches (Harbaugh as an example), the new era of data/metrics has taken the human element out of sports. Baseball is a great example. The entire sport is metric driven. You don't even need a manager anymore. In Schiano's quest to become a better coach, he's gone completely down a rabbit hole, which has lead to more losing.
There is a place for analytics in sport, but not when it defies what you are seeing with your own eyes.

You better hope not. You may have to settle up with your big .45 wager. HahahaahDear god I hope we win a few games.

This is exactly my thought process here; You absolutely nailed it. He overthinks everything, exponentially, to the point where it’s a defeatist way of coaching.Like many coaches (Harbaugh as an example), the new era of data/metrics has taken the human element out of sports. What kind of offense would she run?All I care about it is winning. He could make his wife OC if he won. The losing is far more of a problem than this.

they shouldn't be anywhere near the program and these articles speak volumesIt’s less about what they are being paid and more that they are skirting the nepotism clauses. Agreed. It’s one thing to talk about it in this board in a semi closed network of “fans”. It’s another when the pitchforks come out from the star ledger. This is just the beginning of the articles.they shouldn't be anywhere near the program and these articles speak volumes

45 cents per win.
"And sing aloud to Alma Mater and put all the cash in the van. For with our bank balance high, Rutgers pride will never die. On the banks of the Old Raritan."Did GS sons go to Rutgers?
"My father sent me to old Rutgers,
And resolved that I should be a football staffer"
Duhhh. Thats all analytics. He actually admitted that and used as the excuse. What do analytics say about calling a timeout to ice the kicker on a 58 yard attempt into a 20 mph wind? Or tackling a receiver on a catch and run so he doesn't score a TD with no time left on the clock? Or trying to run the ball without blocking anybody?
Not only did he call the TO, but he did it late allowing Bielema to see the kick had zero chance and promptly ran the offense back out.Duhhh. Thats all analytics. He actually admitted that and used as the excuse.
Then tripled down and played a soft zone with 15 yard cushions on the receivers. Gifting minimum first down. Not only did he call the TO, but he did it late allowing Bielema to see the kick had zero chance and promptly ran the offense back out.
He did the dumbest thing you could do in calling a TO, then did something dumber allowing them to actually get a practice kick in.
If there was any doubt he was a football moron before that, there sure wasn't after that. He gifted Bielema a win on a platter. Instead of him being the idiot for trying that kick, Schiano one upped his idiocy.

There are 3 sons and one win against FCS Howard. What, exactly, do they contribute to winning games?
Technically no one on the staff contributes anything to winning games unless you count Howard as a winWhat, exactly, do they contribute to winning games?
That's 0.33333333333 wins per son. That is violently inadequate. There are 3 sons and one win against FCS Howard.
Sounds like a rhetorical question.
But but but they’re cheap!!! And they volunteered for 3 years. That's 0.33333333333 wins per son. That is violently inadequate.
